Chapter 3: Beauty sisters, leirin and sirin

The beautiful sisters, Raylin and Seirin, suddenly came to find me.

I had wondered what important matter brought them all this way, but,

they were immediately challenging me to a duel.

Moreover, Raylin and Seirin’s expressions were definitely not joking.

I could see magic flowing from the body of the blonde beauty Raylin, who was already holding out her wand, and,

Seirin also adopted a swordsmanship stance, and her eyes gleamed.

However, the two women were not threatening to me at all.

Raylin’s magic wasn’t strong enough to deal me a significant blow, and,

Seirin’s sword also looked nothing more than a toy to me, who had just broken a sword with my bare hands.

Only if she wrapped her sword in a lot of magic and swung it would it be worth deflecting,

but Seirin’s magic, far from looking that strong, felt incredibly clumsy.

For a moment, I wondered if the remaining heretics had come for revenge, but,

there was no way people seeking revenge would be this weak,

nor would they dare invade the headquarters of the order.

Unable to understand the situation at all, as I stood still, Raylin spoke.

“Choose. Will you duel me first, or my sister Seirin first…?”

“Is there any need to bother with that? Just both of you, come at me at once.”

“Huh?”

“It’s not just two; even if there were a hundred of you, you couldn’t beat me, so just come at me all at once.”

I didn’t know why they came, but their demand was simple.

They came to defeat me, so they wanted a duel with me.

‘Then if I just grant their wish, they’ll leave quickly, right?’

‘Or maybe they’ll get scared and run away.’

However, contrary to my expectation that they would be scared,

Raylin and Seirin’s atmosphere was subtly strange.

‘It was like they had been hoping I would say something like that?’

Seeing a bolder flush on their cheeks, it was enough to make me completely flustered.

Soon, shaking her head, the silver-haired woman Seirin spoke to me.

“No, that won’t do. It’s important which of us defeats Deron-nim.”

“Even if both of you come at me together, it’s futile, yet it matters who defeats me?”

“Yes. We already promised.”

I couldn’t grasp what on earth they were talking about.

‘Is this some new suicide method?’

As I let out a hollow laugh in disbelief, Raylin and Seirin spoke to me in turn.

“If we proceed with the duel here, there might be problems, so let’s go somewhere spacious.”

“On the way here, I saw a training ground for the Order’s Holy Knights; let’s go there.”

Without knowing why, I was led by the two women to the training ground.

Perhaps because it was an uncrowded time, there was no one at the training ground, and,

Raylin quickly took her place on the training ground and waited for me.

I shuffled over and stood facing Raylin, and she spoke to me.

“Don’t you have a weapon?”

“I don’t think I’ll need a weapon to face you.”

“No. That won’t do. Please fight with your best effort.”

“I’m telling you, you’re not worth that much.”

As I spoke in disbelief, Seirin, who was nearby, also chimed in, supporting Raylin’s words.

“It’s fine if you hurt her, so please crush my sister so she can never challenge you again.”

‘Does a younger sister usually ask someone to beat up her older sister?’

‘Of course, there are many cases where they say that jokingly,’

‘but asking to be hurt with a weapon seems rare…’

“Or would you like to use my sword?”

At Seirin’s words, I nodded, and,

Seirin, who was standing far away, threw the sword she was holding towards me.

Perhaps due to Seirin’s lack of strength, the sword was about to fall far short of me, but,

I naturally drew the sword with magic and grabbed its hilt.

When I held it myself, it was a decent sword.

‘I just don’t know why a kid like that has such a masterpiece.’

“Are you ready? Then let’s begin right away!”

Raylin gathered a lot of magic and aimed her wand at me.

Even I, who had been standing still with a very reluctant expression, casually took a stance,

Raylin immediately began firing spells at me.

“Haa!”

Starting with fireballs, all sorts of magic, including magic bullets, ice spears, and lightning arrows, flew towards me.

They were spells that truly conveyed a determination to defeat me, but,

I yawned and casually swung the sword, and,

with that relaxed sword strike, all of Raylin’s magic was neutralized.

The flames of the fireballs scattered and died out, and,

the magic bullets had their trajectories twisted and struck random places, and,

the ice spears and lightning arrows were cut down and failed to hit me.

“Next.”

When I spoke, Raylin immediately regulated her breathing and shot the next spell at me.

Her momentum was still good, but it was still far from being able to deal me a blow.

I could have simply cast a magic barrier and blocked everything, but,

since she was trying so hard, with the thought of just playing along, I swung my sword.

“Next.”

I stood with the sword stuck in the ground, leaning on one leg, and spoke.

Raylin seemed a little tired, sweating and breathing heavily.

‘The skill gap is this wide, so why isn’t she giving up?’

“As expected, you are powerful.”

“Right. So, are you going to say something obvious like you’re going to get serious now?”

“I’ve been serious the whole time.”

“A seriousness that can’t even reach me. How pathetic.”

“No, my seriousness… it will reach you!”

Raylin raised her wand with a flourish and chanted a spell.

Soon, a bright light emanated from the tip of her wand, and a large fireball, different from before, began to gather.

Raylin seemed to be squeezing out her last bit of magic and concentrated intently, and,

the fireball gathering in the air became much larger than Raylin herself.

“Please accept it, my sincerity!”

Raylin threw the enormous fireball towards me.

I, who had been staring at the fireball flying towards me, subtly moved one foot to the side, and,

before the fireball could reach me and explode, I moved with lightning speed and dodged.

Soon, the fireball that hit where I had been exploded, creating a roar and a cloud of dust.

Of course, I suffered no damage.

Rather, I used the roar and dust cloud to hide my presence, and before Raylin could notice, I got behind her.

Unaware that I was right behind her, Raylin wiped away sweat and muttered to herself.

“Did I defeat him…?”

“As if?”

With the hand not holding the sword, I made a fist and lightly flicked the back of Raylin’s head, and,

Raylin, from the impact, tumbled forward and fell flat on the training ground floor.

Raylin, who had been twitching with her nose pressed to the training ground floor, barely managed to lift her head and spoke to me.

“It’s a shame, but… I lost.”

“Do people usually call something like this a ‘shame’?”

“But I won’t give up…”

“Suit yourself. Oh, I’m borrowing your wand.”

I snatched the wand from Raylin’s hand and threw the sword towards Seirin.

The sword I threw flew in a perfect trajectory for Seirin to catch and landed in Seirin’s hand, and,

I beckoned to Seirin with my hand.

“You come in quickly too. I don’t want to waste any more time on this kind of thing.”

“Isn’t your main weapon a sword?”

“I do like swords, but it’s not like I can’t use other weapons. A mace is good for smashing heads, and a wand is good for erasing troublesome magic circles.”

“As expected…”

“So, are you coming or not?”

“I’m coming now!”

Seirin readjusted her grip on the sword and charged at me.

Just like her sister Raylin, her momentum was excellent, but,

the problem was that her skill was equally clumsy.

The sword she swung at me was so straightforward that its trajectory was completely predictable, and,

it wasn’t fast, nor did it have additional attacks like sword qi, which made it even harder to get hit.

I didn’t even use the wand in my hand, and moved my feet, lightly dodging all of Seirin’s attacks.

Seirin, who had been swinging her sword relentlessly at me, pointed the tip of her sword at me and asked.

“Why are you only dodging?”

“How should I put it… I don’t really see the need to counterattack.”

“Please go all out!”

Seirin shouted boldly and swung her sword at me.

Just like with her other attacks, I moved my body back about 10 centimeters and casually dodged the attack, then Raylin, who was brushing dirt off herself, shouted.

“Please crush her with your full power, so she can never challenge you again!”

‘They’re sisters, yet how broken is their relationship?’

‘To the extent that they ask me to crush their own sister.’

I subtly stepped back and extended the wand towards Seirin, and,

soon a strong shockwave was fired from the wand and hit Seirin squarely in the chest.

“Kyaa!”

Seirin screamed and flew backward, and,

after rolling a few times on the ground, she plopped onto the floor like her sister.

I threw the wand back to Raylin, then approached the fallen Seirin and asked.

“Hey, let me hear your reason. Why are you challenging me with such pathetic skill?”

“Because you promised…”

Seirin got up and replied.

‘Promise? What promise?’

‘I’ve never seen either of them before, and I made a promise?’

As I stood bewildered, Raylin and Seirin, who had somehow lined up in front of me, spoke.

“Don’t you remember? The incident in a small, unknown village.”

“You saved a pair of desperate sisters who had nowhere to rely on but each other.”

“Back then, as you left, you made a promise to us.”

Raylin and Seirin had somehow seemed to forget they had just been hit by me and were looking at me with sparkling eyes.

But to their regret, even after hearing their story, nothing specific came to mind.

“Sorry, but that kind of thing has happened more than once or twice, so I don’t remember.”

“It’s okay. We remember.”

“So, what promise did I make?”

At my question, Raylin and Seirin exchanged glances for a moment and hesitated.

After a brief silence, Raylin and Seirin spoke in turn.

“If, after time passes… we become strong enough to defeat you…”

“You said you would take us in…”

“?”

“And if we were to stay by your side like that…”

“Someday, we could become your brides, right?”

“???”

‘What in the world are they talking about?’
