Chapter 49: A Declaration That Shook the Chat.

It’s not easy to imagine the kind of thing happening that would make a streamer’s chat window explode during a Q&A.

It’s difficult for a response to any given question to cause the chat to erupt unless it’s expressing strong opinions on something like the proper way to eat tangsuyuk [TL Note: Korean sweet and sour pork] or whether pineapple can function as a pizza topping.

But Yu Sieun had just detonated a bomb far exceeding the intensity of any explosion imaginable from things like that.

If the ripple effect that preferences about tangsuyuk with the sauce poured on or pineapple pizza brought to the chat could be described as a simply-made, homemade bomb, then the declaration that had just come out of Yu Sieun’s mouth could be described as a tactical nuclear weapon.

It was an explosion created by the intersection of situation and background.

Internet broadcasters – streamers – who broadcast on Treech can be divided into two groups according to one criterion.

Streamers are divided into camera streamers and no-camera streamers, depending on whether they use a camera when broadcasting.

Among them, Yu Sieun, or EunSiyu, was clearly a streamer belonging to the no-camera streamer group. She had never turned on her camera since starting her broadcast, after all.

Those no-camera streamers generally don’t choose to transition to camera broadcasts.

Even if there are cases where they transition, it’s often people whose appearances have already been revealed before.

Even in those cases, if it’s a no-cam streamer with some recognition, they’re a minority that can be counted on one hand.

As such, the question ‘Do you have any thoughts of doing camera broadcasts?’ that Yu Sieun had just answered was the kind of thing that brought quite a bit of stress to ordinary no-cam streamers.

Let’s say that Kim Jae-min, an elementary school student who doesn’t know that fact well, goes to the live broadcast of a streamer he enjoys watching on YouTube and asks the no-cam broadcaster with a sponsorship whether they have plans to turn on the camera.

It’s unfortunate when you see it knowing the background, but you should give up the expectation that you’ll hear good words.

In the case of broadcasters who are cracking down strongly on this kind of behavior, there was also a high probability of being banned for money.

It’s because that broadcaster would have already heard similar questions hundreds of times before receiving Kim Jae-min’s sponsorship, and would already be sick of that question.

If it was someone who had come to interpret questions about camera broadcasts as pressure on them due to those experiences, there was a high probability that they would react more strongly.

The above were things that had become close to common sense for those who enjoyed internet broadcasting on Treech.

But Yu Sieun had just turned common sense on its head.

Yu Sieun gave the answer to the question about camera broadcasts as ‘I have plans’, and not ‘Stop asking me that’ nor ‘I will never have any intention of doing it in the future’.

It was something that had almost never happened in the history of Treech’s no-cam broadcasters, and as far as I knew, Yu Sieun was the first to bring up the idea of doing camera broadcasts as an answer during a Q&A.

Considering Yu Sieun’s broadcast scale and the fact that it had been growing quickly recently, this was a statement that was more than enough to have a very large ripple effect.

-Did she say it wrong??

No, she’s going to turn it on?

???

wow

Even now, with Yu Sieun working hard to calm the viewers, the heat in the chat window wasn’t cooling down easily.

I thought that by now, there would probably be posts containing the remarks that Yu Sieun had just made on communities that dealt with the topic of internet broadcasting.

After a few more minutes had passed, I could confirm that my guess was correct by seeing that the viewers of the broadcast had increased by about two times.

From what I could see next to her, Yu Sieun seemed a little flustered by the reactions the viewers were showing.

Yu Sieun was also an internet streamer with experience and intuition.

She must have predicted the ripple effect that would occur when a no-cam broadcaster said that she had thoughts of doing camera broadcasts.

Even so, the reason why Yu Sieun was showing a flustered look next to me now was probably because that ripple effect was much larger than Yu Sieun had expected.

I wondered if I should calm her down a little, but I was just an ordinary person who hadn’t had the experience of doing a broadcast.

Therefore, I didn’t really know what I should do.

I just tapped Yu Sieun and then raised my hand and made a gesture of shouting fighting. I didn’t know how to turn off the microphone, so I did it silently.

If I had to say what my intention was, it was to say that I hoped she wouldn’t think about the current situation too seriously.

Since most of those people were just jumping around because they liked it, after all.

Fortunately, Yu Sieun didn’t change the momentary fluster she felt into negative things like anxiety or regret.

Yu Sieun, in front of the people who had calmed down a little after the time had passed since the explosion, brought out the content that would be attached to her words ‘I have thoughts of doing camera broadcasts’.

“It’s not that I’m going to start camera broadcasts right away, but I’m thinking of proceeding with a feeling that I’m growing the field a little more after achieving a goal I’ve personally set.”

Yu Sieun brought out the same content that she had told me inside the blanket before in front of the viewers.

That she had started broadcasting as a Legacy of Legend broadcaster, and that she also had a passion for the game.

That she didn’t want to hear bad things about turning on the camera and expanding the scope of the broadcast.

That she had a standard for the point in time when she could think of those words without feeling anything since a long time ago.

Yu Sieun ended the last of that long story with a declaration.

“I’ll do camera broadcasts after I reach Grand Master in solo rank! The LoL Team Tournament is over too, and we’ve done the 100,000 Q&A, so I’m thinking of seriously playing solo ranked games from tomorrow.”

Yu Sieun presented a clear goal, and then said the direction she would change in after achieving that goal.

If Yu Sieun, who had been oscillating between 0 and 100 points in Master, had said it, there might have been one or two reactions along the lines of ‘Are you making fun of us?’, but Yu Sieun was currently a LoL Team Tournament winning ADC who had renewed her top rating to the 300s, with an amazing improvement in skill from the viewers’ perspective.

A goal that had possibility.

A big change that was at the end of that.

There was nothing lacking in seeing it as a declaration towards the future.

With answering the question about camera broadcasts as the end, the answers to all the questions that Yu Sieun had prepared were over.

“Now that we’re done with the questions I had organized, I’ll just take a few more through chat or sponsorship and end today’s Q&A content….”

As if she was getting ready to slowly wrap up the Q&A, Yu Sieun presented free questions to the viewers as the final stage.

Since Q&A is something where new questions can arise while listening to one answer, I thought it was a decent way to proceed as a finale.

After all, you can read the individual messages right away in the case of sponsorships, but it was difficult to answer all of the individual questions in the chat.

As such, Yu Sieun answered by drawing out the most common questions, and those were mainly about her earlier declaration of ‘I have the intention to do camera broadcasts’.

Most of the answers were just giving a little more detail to what she had said earlier, but it was a little funny to see Yu Sieun getting heated at a question that contained sincere worry about whether she could get to Grand Master.

“Alright, then, the last question! I’ll just answer exactly one more question that was done through sponsorship and then I’ll wrap up the Q&A here.”

When the movements were gradually slowing down, Yu Sieun, after declaring that she would take the last question, took up the tumbler that was placed on the desk and put water in her mouth.

It was then that one sponsorship message came up.

Unlike until just now, when the content of the questions was focused on Yu Sieun’s declaration, the last question, although it was directed at Yu Sieun, had a little bit of relevance to me.

[‘OO’-nim sent ₩100,000!]

Does the hard-working editor-nim have a special one?”

Reading the sponsorship message that had appeared on the monitor, I could feel a slight smile appearing on my lips.

Even though it was a special guest appearance Q&A, it seemed it was a viewer who was trying to help make a heart-warming finale when it was made into a YouTube video.

Seeing that the amount of the sponsorship was also large, I could see the intention.

When I see people like that, I would have to say that I feel a little thankful as an editor.

Now that the foundation had been laid, I turned my head towards Yu Sieun, expecting her to finish the broadcast by giving a heart-warming answer that fit that question.

‘…?’

However, Yu Sieun was hacking and coughing as if she had swallowed the water she was drinking the wrong way. And without turning off the microphone, at that.

It seemed that Yu Sieun might have been seen as flustered to the viewers, who were only hearing the sound without any visual information.

That’s why, while giving Yu Sieun a little time, I added a few words about my reaction to the question that had come through sponsorship.

“Unni, you don’t love me…? I’m a little sad if you react like that….”

Yu Sieun, who had recovered her breathing in the meantime as I lengthened my sentences and spoke, brought out her answer and ended the long-running Q&A.

“Of course, I love you. Huum huum. Alright! Then I’ll end today’s Q&A here. I’ll also turn off the broadcast for a bit, and I’ll write the next schedule as an announcement on Treech. Thank you~”

As Yu Sieun was wrapping up the broadcast, I also followed suit and greeted them.

“The experience I had today was special. Thank you for welcoming me so enjoyably! I will work hard so that you can continue to see me through the channel videos in the future…!”

After my final greeting was over as well, Yu Sieun pressed the broadcast end button.

It was the end of my first broadcast experience.
