Recently, I had been recording the events of the day in a diary-like fashion. To use a more detailed expression instead of recently, from when I started living at Yu Sieun’s house.
It wasn’t about writing about the things that happened to me. Looking at the contents of this diary, it is more related to Yu Sieun’s journey towards Grandmaster than to Ha Eunsol’s life.
Having returned to my room late at night, I took out my cell phone to write today’s diary as the last task of the day.
Soon, the day that will be the 6th day after I started living at Yu Sieun’s house is coming to an end. Since it’s past midnight, I should say that it’s already over, to be exact.
Whichever is correct, the current situation could be summarized in two short sentences.
EunSiyu Goes to Grandmaster Project, Day 6 or Day 7.
Yu Sieun has not escaped from Master.
Before refilling the events that happened today in Yu Sieun’s biography, I first turned my gaze to the contents written in the records I had left.
It was to recall the memories of the past times.
On the first day I entered the house, Yu Sieun ran on a winning streak and entered 500 points. It was around six o’clock in the afternoon.
From that time on, a predicted disaster struck Yu Sieun’s account, EunSiyuSieun.
The flow of the world that prevents Yu Sieun from going to Grandmaster unfolded a desperate battle with Master’s One-Deal EunSiyuSieun, who was exhibiting the peak of her skills with a winning streak.
The first day ended in a draw without a winner.
It meant that Yu Sieun ended the broadcast without raising her score any further.
I stayed by Yu Sieun’s side, who was turning solo rank until the early dawn of that day, but my performance as a totem was limited to preventing Yu Sieun’s score, which had exceeded 500 points, from falling back down.
Like that, Day 2.
Although I didn’t tell Yu Sieun, I was able to realize one clear change that was visible.
If there was a feeling that she would win no matter what happened in the game when Yu Sieun was continuing her winning streak, now there was a slight anxiety that was felt little by little even if Yu Sieun’s team was leading the game favorably.
Like that, Day 3. Day 4. Day 5.
And until today, Yu Sieun has still been repeating wins and losses.
Fortunately, the score did not fall back down, but the score was going back and forth like a pendulum between 400 points and 500 points.
I came as a tutoring teacher, but there was nothing special I could do.
It’s not feedback to say ‘Don’t make mistakes next time’ to a mistake, or to look at another player’s play and say ‘Unnie did well, but the teammate’s play was a little disappointing’.
The parts of Yu Sieun’s play that were different from my judgment were often too trivial. Similarly, it was a part where I couldn’t see the effect even if I gave feedback.
In fact, Yu Sieun was already qualified to go to Grandmaster.
A few days ago, I had thought about whether I could reach Grandmaster if I grabbed Yu Sieun’s account and played.
The conclusion at that time was that I could go, but I would have to grit my teeth and play for two days straight.
It’s foolish to blame the team in a team game, but the team luck tied to Yu Sieun’s account was too much. Even if you take into account the kind of external pressure that comes in because she is a broadcaster.
‘Haa….’
Now, the time remaining until the end of the season could not be said to be enough.
If Yu Sieun was still unable to go to Grandmaster when there were less than 4 days left until the end of the season, I was thinking of suggesting a duo to Yu Sieun. Because it was still a time when duos in Master tier were possible.
Of course, it would bring quite a bit of backlash.
Yu Sieun wouldn’t like it when she heard these words either.
But wouldn’t it be a little better than Yu Sieun not achieving Grandmaster and the season ending, causing many things to be left hanging?
Yu Sieun’s biography remains in the video. Even if malicious people create criticism, I didn’t think it would have great power.
Time passed, and I spent another day after waking up from sleep in the morning.
The day that should be named Day 7.
The result was the same on this day as well.
Yu Sieun raised her score a little, but that was it.
Generally, raising 10 points in 11 hours is not expressed as a good achievement.
Yu Sieun is a broadcaster, so she didn’t express her displeasure strongly on the broadcast, but she seemed to have suffered a little damage to her mentality today.
I thought it was probably because the 7-day period that Yu Sieun and I had first talked about when we started living together had ended.
That was the reason why I conveyed the thought about the duo that I had recalled yesterday to Yu Sieun.
But Yu Sieun shook her head when she heard my words.
“Thank you. But that’s not possible.”
“I’m not saying that we have to do it either. I’m just telling you so that you don’t feel too pressured. You looked a little tired today.”
Yu Sieun took a long breath after hearing my words.
“It’s hard. To be honest, when I first said I was going to start the Grandmaster project, I thought it would be possible within a month.
I went up to 500 points really quickly too. But from there, I couldn’t raise it any more for several months… The plan was broken, and the conviction was broken too.”
Yu Sieun spat out the words and paused for a moment, then parted her lips again.
“Still, I’m going to do it until the end.”
Yu Sieun looked at me and said that.
It was a sentence that came out calmly without logic or emotion.
Yu Sieun didn’t give a reason or try to persuade me.
But I closed my mouth.
Should I call it human will? I could feel a firmness in Yu Sieun’s soft words.
I didn’t feel like bringing up the flow of broadcasts and videos, or the viewers’ expectations that were being thwarted in a bad way.
From tomorrow on, I would just have to pray and cheer hard. More purely without other thoughts.
I left Yu Sieun’s room and closed my eyes.
Two more days passed like that.
The feeling of facing the morning of Day 9 was a little different from usual.
If I wanted to find a reason, I could think of one.
I was thinking of going back to my house today, as the period I had initially thought of had passed by a lot.
I also had to replenish supplies, and the house isn’t very good when it’s been empty for a long time.
Since it would be difficult to make it on the schedule if I came back right away, it would be impossible to live at Yu Sieun’s house like now for two or three days.
But there was one quite subtle point here.
The current heterogeneous feeling was not a gloom coming from that fact.
In my memories, I could find several times when I had a thought that the day would come when I would achieve it someday in the face of a daunting goal.
If I narrow down the scope and only list the times when I really achieved the goal, there are roughly two memories.
When I first reached Challenger, and when I became Yu Sieun’s editor.
‘Hmm…?
The current feeling was similar to the former.
The point that a groundless strange conviction was circulating was similar.
It’s really a groundless conviction.
Because I’ve been working hard so far.
Because I seem to be in good condition today.
Because I feel like I’ve realized something.
Those reasons don’t explain it well.
Maybe it’s more of a self-hypnosis than a conviction.
Hypnosis to reassure myself that I will make it this time because I have been building up efforts for a long time.
So I didn’t take this feeling out.
While only thinking about it inside, I supported Yu Sieun, who started the broadcast earlier than usual, from the side.
Yu Sieun won the first game of today, and lost the next game. The third game was also a loss.
Yu Sieun, who rested for a while from turning the queue, brought the fourth game to victory about an hour later.
The score that had returned to the starting point after a few hours.
But Yu Sieun wasn’t showing a hard time like last night.
It was from that time that the conviction I felt this morning started to appear in reality.
Yu Sieun gradually started to raise her score.
The feeling from a long time ago had returned.
While watching her play the game, I didn’t feel like Yu Sieun would lose.
Yu Sieun first set foot in the 600-point range at 11 p.m.
I remained next to Yu Sieun, having thrown away my original plan to go home.
If she won one more game like this, the promotion was certain.
Knowing that fact, Yu Sieun’s hand, which was accepting the match, trembled slightly.
I was also quite nervous watching that.
Looking at the contents of the chat that was coming up, probably Yu Sieun’s viewers as well.
“Huu….”
The dodge did not happen, and the loading window appeared with Yu Sieun’s deep breath.
