The Knight’s Guide

After a long wait, I finally met my guide.
My one and only guide.

But when I first saw him, I couldn’t smile.

After all, he was only ten years old.

“Do you want a hug?”
“…What?”
“You look tired.”

You more than anyone else.

He had looked like he was about to collapse just moments ago, yet even then, all he could think about was me.
Someone who only ever gives, never knowing how to receive.

“I’m heavy.”
“You’re not heavy.”

I liked him yesterday.
I like him today.

But another feeling began to fill my heart.
At some point, whenever I looked at him, my chest would ache.
And somehow, even that pain felt good.

An ordinary day.
Just today.

Yet the same everyday life had become different.
