Chapter 5: Everlasting story

“Okay, please deliver this letter to someone named Jina.”

“Jina… Yes, I understand.”

I said, engraving the name spoken by the person handing me the letter in my head.

It has been about 3 weeks since I got up and started working, that is, about a month since I came to this world.

After lying still for 2 weeks after giving birth to Set, the little money I had left began to run out.

I had heard that a lot of money was needed to raise a child, so I was reluctant to run out of money.

So I had no choice but to accept the jobs that the old woman had found for me. Of course, the only jobs I could do were odd jobs, jobs that required physical labor.

Of course, some people may think of physical labor as those kinds of jobs, but the job I was assigned was just so-called odd jobs that mainly involved physical labor.

I couldn’t leave Set, who was only 1 month old, to anyone, so I had to carry him on my back, so even those were limited jobs.

Among them, the job I am currently in charge of is none other than a delivery person.

There were two reasons for taking this job: first, I could obtain information through the various rumors that floated around when I was a delivery person.

And secondly, it is useful for training this body.

If you ask why a mother of a child needs to train her body, you first need to organize the information I have learned so far.

First of all, this world is divided into several continents, and among them, the place where I am located is Ionia, the so-called first land.

This place had originally maintained neutrality in the battles taking place on other continents, but it is said that it underwent a major change when a country in the continent next door, called Noxus, invaded.

The biggest change was the cultural erosion of Noxus due to the shaking of traditional culture, which expanded the underworld and caused Ionians to pursue material values.

As a result, bandit groups (criminal gangs) were created in Navori’s Placidium, which was the sacred place of harmony in Ionia, and the country was going crazy.

There was a reason why there was an arena (fighting ground or battleground)  in a place that seemed like a place for monks to practice.

No, what I wanted to say was that the current situation is a state of war due to the invasion of Noxus.

Although there is currently a truce, I cannot guarantee that the Noxians who have gathered to watch the arena games will not threaten my safety.

In Noxus, where the weak are ignored, a person like me is just a good person to pick a fight with, nothing more and nothing less.

The conclusion I came to through this information was that I must have the strength to protect at least Set and myself.

So I started working to train myself and make a living, but this Ionia region has a lot of forests and mountains, so it was inevitable that I would have difficulties in delivering goods.

If the distance was close, the recipient was in a difficult area, and if it was flat, the distance was far, so I was physically exhausted.

But fortunately, this body seems to be suitable for physical activity, and in just 3 weeks of taking on this job, I have achieved amazing growth in physical strength.

You might think, how much has your stamina increased? But what if a person who was out of breath after walking only 2km three weeks ago is now starting to feel tired after walking 10km?

If I have such good physical strength, I thought it would be quite worth seeing if I learned how to fight.

Anyway, let’s put aside the thoughts about this body that is achieving such high growth and return to the explanation of the job I am currently in charge of.

You may have questions about what is so worrying about this delivery of goods, but surprisingly, this world did not yet have a means of transportation to help with movement, such as cars that were in the original world.

I don’t know what it’s like on other continents, but it was certain that there was none in Ionia.

If you ask how I found out, I didn’t really want to know. Just people walking around the streets with horses or on their own feet, and people on the river using small boats without motors.

Of course, I could borrow a horse to make deliveries, but in the first place, borrowing everything costs money, and I didn’t know how to ride a horse.

Therefore, the method I chose was to deliver to difficult areas that were close but could not be entered by horse.

Most other people didn’t want to go to such difficult places to deliver, so naturally these jobs became my responsibility.

The delivery point can receive jobs that other delivery people are reluctant to take in the future, and I can train and earn money at the same time. What an ideal win-win relationship this is.

The place I am heading to now is called Rocky Mountain Valley, where you have to climb along a steep slope to climb.

Fortunately, Set had been awake for a while and had only fallen asleep recently, so he would be fine no matter what until this delivery was over.

But is this what they call setting up a flag? I ended up encountering a group in the middle of Rocky Mountain Valley.

Who would throw a dagger to graze the cheek of someone carrying a child and hiking? It was the Navori bandit group I had thought about just a moment ago.

“Hey, lady. You’re out of luck. To meet this Highway-nim  in this outskirt.”

Saying that, one of the people surrounding me approached me and said.

Damn, was I too careless? Even though it’s an outskirt, it’s within the activity range of the Navori bandit group.

I didn’t imagine that there would be personnel deployed in such a remote area because there was a recent dispute with a newly formed group called the Shadow Order.

“I don’t know why you came to such a remote place, but once you’ve met us, we can’t let you go easily.”

I know. Bandits are a group that moves for profit. In other words, they will try to extract everything they can from me.

That means that these guys will not leave ‘special products’ like me alone.

“Put out everything you have! Of course, don’t think about running away. It’ll only waste your energy.”

…What boringly textbook bandits these are.
