Days passed as I searched for a solution, preparing for the moment I would inevitably meet the man who had senselessly shot at me again.

‘That bastard, next time, I’ll erase him from this world.’

I should have just finished him off decisively in one blow back then instead of playing around.

My overly lenient response gave him a chance to escape.

So now, I am heading to Piltover to establish one of the countermeasures.

It’s to find out exactly what that item he ordered was.

If I know what that item is used for, I can somewhat predict what he might try to do.

It’s truly regrettable that I have to visit Piltover for such a reason.

Set came with me this time too.

Since we’re going to Piltover anyway, I won’t return until I’ve done everything I wanted to do before.

To find clues while spending time with Set, I need to move swiftly.

It’s important to shorten the time as much as possible by doing only what needs to be done accurately, without wasting a single minute or second.

Arriving at the Piltover port, completing all entry procedures, I first explained the situation to the delivery company I worked for and headed towards the sender’s location they found out for me.

Actually, it’s impossible for a mere delivery person to obtain such information, but it was possible this time because I had almost been murdered and because I had numerous experiences being selected as an outstanding employee.

Looking at the sign of the place I arrived at, the company name ‘Black Mesa’ was written there.
TL Note: Reference to the company from the Half-Life game series.

So, this means one of the employees here personally sent the package to that man.

Because it’s unheard of for a seemingly large corporation like this to send something via package delivery to an individual.

If they were going to do that, they would meet in person to deliver it.

Entering the company building, the counter staff greeted me.

It was likely just professional courtesy, but I was still grateful for the smiling face directed towards me.

After explaining the detailed situation to the employee, she said she would report this matter upstairs and asked me to wait for a moment.

Having no other viable option, I waited in the lobby as instructed.

Not long after, permission was granted to enter, and I followed the counter staff inside the building.

The employee said they found out which person sent the package based on the invoice I showed and told me to speak directly with that person.

‘Setting aside finding them so quickly, is it really okay for me to come inside and meet them directly?’

The place the employee guided me to was labeled ‘New Product Development Lab’.

Heh~ New Product Development Lab… you say!?!!?

‘A place containing your company secrets?’

‘What if I see it and leak it to another company?!!?!?!’

‘Are you crazy, Human?’

‘Letting an outsider like me into a top-secret security area like this, what on earth are you thinking?’

That’s what I thought back then.

Because of the first sight I saw upon entering, I understood why these people acted crazy and allowed me to enter this place.

‘I didn’t particularly want to know…’

All that was in that place was a researcher in a white coat doing a countdown.

“5 seconds. 4 seconds. 3 seconds. 2 seconds. 1 second. Test chamber activate!”

At that moment, electricity began to rise within the lab, coalescing into a pillar shape.

Seeing this, the scientist couldn’t contain his excitement and laughed maniacally, shouting “I did it! I finally did it! This will overturn the academic world!”, but I saw it.

The unstable flickering flow of electricity within that pillar.

Perhaps if this state continues…

“Hahahaha! Hmm? What!? Th-this can’t be! At this rate, stop the equipment! It’s… it’s not stopping!”

The researcher, having failed to stop the equipment’s operation due to some problem.

The result was obvious.

Eventually, the pillar made of electricity began to shake, and its form distorted.

The electricity, unable to maintain its shape, began to release the pent-up energy, resonating with each other.

The result…

Pikka Pikka… Chiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!
TL Note: Sound effect reminiscent of Pikachu’s electric attack.

A high-pitched commotion arose from within the test chamber, burning the interior with electricity.

What remained inside the lab looked like contents zapped by roughly a million volts.

So, the important doctor got caught up in that force and met the disaster of crashing into the wall.

But… his hair came off?

Was it a wig?

I realized the saying ‘Piltover’s science and technology is the best’ wasn’t just empty words.

For a wig to be made with such precision that it’s completely unnoticeable, this is a revolution in the wig industry.

Ah! That researcher should have information, but if he’s unconscious, I can’t hear anything, can I?

I immediately ran to the researcher and healed him so he could regain consciousness.

As soon as I stepped back slightly, the researcher shot up.

Then, looking at the disaster he had caused, he let out a scream of despair.

“Najeda (Piltovan dialect meaning ‘Why’)!!! What’s the problem? Why did it fail this time! There were no issues with the output or safety devices!”

If he stayed in this state, I wouldn’t be able to ask the questions I wanted, so I decided to use a somewhat rough method.

I lightly chopped the neck of the researcher screaming at the blackened laboratory, knocking him out, then grabbed his torso, slung him over my shoulder, and sat him down on a nearby chair.

Then, wake him up again, profit!

Waking up again, confused about what had happened, I explained the entire situation to the researcher, calmed him down, and then asked about the contents of the package this researcher had apparently sent.

The researcher, while flustered by the sudden turn of events, dredged up his memory and told me the contents of the package.

“That’s a Hextech Alternating Current Generator.”

“It’s for someone doing personal research in Ionia, they sent me a letter saying they absolutely needed it.”

“And you just readily gave such an item to a stranger? Are you sane?”

“But it was too much money to refuse! I happened to be short on money because of equipment I ordered recently. Come to think of it, if I add the AC generator to this experiment… there’s a possibility! Thank you so much! Thanks to you, I’ve found a clue to the solution! Well then, I must be going!”

With those words, the researcher dashed outside.

Ha… Researchers, they all act so selfishly.

I let out a deep sigh, thinking of the bald researcher who disappeared before I even had a chance to grab him.

Still, I achieved my initial objective, so now I just need to predict where that item will be used and prepare accordingly.

But doesn’t that researcher know his wig came off?

I remember him just leaving…
