Prologue 0: The Crybaby Mode Pack for Total Noobs

[Title: Where does the son of a b*tch who recommended Wall of Doom live?]

He said there were no jump scares, but they’re freaking everywhere.
I seriously wanna choke the guy who recommended this.

====
└It’s a horror game, of course there are going to be jumpscares. Why have you been whining about it?
└How the hell am I supposed to play the game when they pop out every 3 minutes? F*ck.

└That’s just how the game is.

└If you hate jumpscares so much, try installing the Crybaby Mode.
└There’s a mod like that?
└Yeah, in the modes tab, there’s a “Crybaby Modepack for Utter Cowards.”

Age 23.
Name Lee Dohyun.

After being discharged from the military and before returning to college, I was browsing online communities for a game to play when I got a recommendation for a roguelike open-world horror game.

I didn’t have much tolerance for horror games, but I was reassured by the claim that it was a roguelike with few jumpscares, so I hesitantly dipped my toes in…

In the first hour of playing, I think I saw over thirty jumpscares.
I spilled the water I was drinking and punched my monitor in surprise dozens of times because of them.

But downloading a “Crybaby Mode for Utter Cowards”? My pride wouldn’t allow it.

“A Crybaby Modepack for Utter Cowards? You want me to download something like this? Me?”

It was a severe blow to my pride, but my finger was already clicking the download button for the Crybaby Modepack for Utter Cowards.

Hey, what was I supposed to do when I couldn’t even progress in the game because of all the jumpscares!

It’s better to clear it like this than to get a refund like a little girl!

If you get caught by an anomaly, [GAME OVER] flashes on the screen, followed by a barrage of jumpscares. I can’t make any progress if this keeps happening.

The game needs to have a reasonable difficulty to be enjoyable.

“Change the appearance of the anomalies. And the Doom Meter is replaced with favorability? What kind of nonsense is this?”

An ending where you get dragged away by an anomaly and live a blissfully happy life. I like the sound of that…

[Seduce the anomalies and prevent the world’s destruction.]
-Humanoid anomalies will change into beautiful girls.
-An Anomaly Favorability system will be added.
-Stats and drop rates will be increased by 10x.
-122 other quality-of-life mods will be added.

The atmosphere of the game changed completely.

It seemed like farming and collecting companions became more important than the horror aspect.

And the grotesque anomalies, which originally had gaping eye sockets, were all transformed into pretty girls, and most of the male NPCs were changed into women.

So, the point is to seduce the anomalies, make them my companions, and stop the resurrection of an ancient god?

This is doable.

I immediately clicked ‘Create New Character’ and made my character.

The class I chose this time was the Fixer.

In this game, there were Exorcists from the Church, Spirit Mediums of the shamanic lineage, Sorcerers who wielded curse energy, and Onmyoji who controlled shikigami.

Each class had its own unique abilities and traits, but the Fixer I chose had none.

Instead, it could roughly imitate the skills of other classes. Truly a Copy Ninja-like class.

Of course, being a jack-of-all-trades, it could also be seen as a character that specializes in nothing.

In truth, it was a Red Mage-like class, a “chicken rib” you couldn’t just throw away.

‘But in Crybaby Mode, the Fixer is the best.’

It was written that in Crybaby Mode, the Fixer could perfectly imitate the skills of other classes without any flaws, and even copy their traits. I had to start with the Fixer.

“Alright, then.”

After creating my character, I finally pressed ‘New Game’.

At that moment…

A loud roar erupted from my computer, and a light so intense it could blind me shot out from the monitor.

Just like that, I was transmigrated into a horror game with easy mode installed.

When adding a novel to Novel Updates (NU), please stop categorising Korean web novels as “Type: Light Novel”; they are web novels and should be categorised as such. ie. “Type: Web Novel”. You, or people in this group, have done this several times now, each time creating work for those who work behind the scenes on NU correcting the editing mistakes people make.

On NU, the ‘light novel’ category is strictly reserved for Japanese novels only, and only those novels which have been published by a Japanese publishing company as a light novel. You’re free to label and categorise a novel any way you like on your own site, but on NU you should abide by the categorisation system that it uses, and not currupt its database by applying your own conflicting catagorisation system to it.
