X
Rain poured, the exhilarating weightlessness sweeping through her body, her skirt fluttering against the falling wind, rippling.
Dark clouds loomed, jagged blue-purple lightning dancing in the sky.
She freely touched the raindrops, the relative motion of falling feeling like grasping the second hand of time, mingling with the blood seeping from her fingertips, pausing to form beautiful petals.
So free, so thrilling.
In a daze, Shizuku Sakurai felt she was soaring.
But the warmth in her palm told her otherwise.
She was falling.
Plummeting with the rain to the ground.
“Close your eyes, trust me.”
A familiar voice sounded in her ear.
She turned, looking at the boy.
His bangs were swept back by the rain, revealing a sharp forehead, his chiseled face captivating her.
…Kinda handsome.
From their first meeting, she’d thought so.
Not just his striking features.
But those deep eyes, as if they could draw out something vital from within.
Shizuku Sakurai admitted, just a bit, her heart was hooked.
Just… a little.
The heat on her cheeks couldn’t be doused by the rain.
So she followed his words, closing her eyes.
Rain still soaked her clothes.
But the falling sensation paused briefly, then a puff of breath hit her face.
It dissipated in the rain, like smoke fading into the misty sky.
They landed.
Shizuku Sakurai opened her eyes.
No pain, no bloody mess.
Only his familiar face and reassuring words.
“Helicopter landed perfectly. Rate me?”
Su Buyu grinned, gently setting her down, snapping the pen cap onto the pen like sheathing a blade.
He pocketed it.
His three teleports were used up.
The moment she closed her eyes, he’d thrown the pen cap to the ground, teleporting to confirm something.
Namely…
During teleportation, all external forces on him reset.
Gravity, elasticity, friction…
All recalculated to zero!
He’d used this, throwing the cap upward, catching Shizuku Sakurai to slow their descent, barely landing safely.
The speed wasn’t fully nullified.
But his sturdy frame could handle it.
And the result…
“Twenty-four points, out of twenty-one.”
Shizuku Sakurai gave an over-the-top score.
She smiled brightly, pointing at him firmly.
“Guess why the extra three?”
Her cheeks still radiated heat.
She glanced at his profile, swallowing the words she nearly spoke.
Because you’re important to me.
The guy who thinks of me in a crisis.
The only peer I’ve ever trusted in years.
She didn’t say it.
But she hoped he would.
Su Buyu waved it off, grinning.
“Obviously, ‘cause I’m your bro!”
“Who else could guess that? Right?”
Haha, too easy!
He clenched his fist, lightly bumping her shoulder.
Rain kept falling, wind kept blowing.
Soaking his tank top.
Reddening her face.
Shizuku Sakurai lowered her head, eyes glaring, huffing, a lump in her throat she couldn’t swallow.
Her face burned hotter.
Blushing, not from shyness.
But because she was steamed.
Bro?
Me… this…
She didn’t know how to respond.
Head down, clutching his jacket, a shy emotion churned in her chest.
Damn it, this wasn’t her at all!
Just say it boldly, simply, right?
Was she too embarrassed to speak?
No… no way!
She snapped her head up, grabbing his collar, amber eyes locking onto his.
“I…”
“…Oh! You finally noticed?”
“Huh?”
Shizuku Sakurai froze.
“Noticed what?”
She blinked, confused.
He pointed at the jacket on her, then his soaked tank top, complaining.
“My jacket! Your bro’s out here in a tank top in the rain. Don’t you feel bad? Give it back!”
He reached for it.
But she dodged, turning slightly.
“…No way.”
She kept her head down, refusing.
This puzzled him more.
Huh?
Was this her personality?
Why was she acting like this?
She didn’t get hit by the potion, right?
He’d told her to cover her mouth with his jacket to avoid the gas.
…Right?
She did it, so no weird reactions, right?
Su Buyu was baffled.
“Then tell me, how do I get my jacket back? It’s my only one, and you touched my ‘little brother’—you’re the one in the wrong!”
“What? I only did that to get close to Renyu Saiki!”
Her face flushed as she defended herself.
He just frowned, muttering.
“Pervert.”
“What?”
His word made her face burn redder.
Clutching his jacket, she stammered, about to say something, when a shout erupted from the school building’s entrance.
“Big Bro, you’re alive!!!”
“Huh?”
The sudden yell drew both their gazes to the figure running through the rain.
Soaked glasses glinted, and Su Buyu recognized him instantly.
“Genshi Fujino? Why’re you here?”
Before he could process, the figure lunged, hugging him tightly, sobbing.
“Big Bro!! Thank God you’re okay! I was… doing stuff with a girl downstairs when I saw you fall! Waaah!!!”
Genshi Fujino couldn’t forget the panic when he saw two shadows plummet from above.
His years of filming honed his dynamic vision—he instantly knew it was Su Buyu and delinquent Shizuku Sakurai.
He’d yanked up his pants, rushed to the office to report, then sprinted down, finding them unharmed.
“Big Bro! You’re okay, thank God! But why’re you in a tank top? And Shizuku Sakurai, why’re you wearing his jacket? Are you… gonna…”
Before he finished, red and blue lights cut through the rain, accompanied by sirens.
Police and ambulance.
Two familiar figures stepped out.
Officer Ni and the doctor who’d bandaged Su Buyu.
“Hey, you! My brother! Heard someone fell. Where are they? This is serious. Tell us, or they could be in danger.”
Both looked to Su Buyu for answers.
He hesitated, then pointed to himself and Shizuku Sakurai.
“What if I say we’re the ones who fell? Would you believe it?”
Silence pooled like rainwater. Officer Ni froze, then gaped, eyes wide, hands on his head, lips bursting with shock.
“Wait, wait, wait, what the hell—!?”
