Chapter 23: Confirming the Fairy’s Identity

“Who are you?” The Blue-Horned Evil Spirit stared at the suddenly intruding Lin Fan, its expression filled with confusion.

Could it be that the Heaven Sound Sect… also had male disciples?

Lin Fan didn’t respond, instead walking directly toward Su Muxue.

Just as Lin Fan arrived in front of Su Muxue, the guiding stone in his hand suddenly erupted in a brilliant golden light.

“It really is her.”

Looking at the dying Su Muxue before him, Lin Fan quickly took out a healing pill and had Su Muxue consume it.

And in the instant that Lin Fan got close enough to see Su Muxue’s face, several lines of information appeared before his eyes.

___

[Name: Su Muxue.]

[Age: 314 years old.]

[Race: Human.]

[Cultivation: Peak Great Ascension Realm.]

[Talent: Unprecedented and Unsurpassed.]

___

“Reached the peak of the Great Ascension Realm at only three hundred years old?” After reading the information on the panel, Lin Fan couldn’t help but click his tongue. “Not bad, even more outstanding than me.”

[That’s a given~ If her talent was worse than yours, how would she hunt you down in the future?]

The system said cheekily.

“Damn, don’t joke about that!” The system’s words scared Lin Fan into a cold sweat. “I’ve finally managed to not have nightmares these past few days!”

If one were to speak of Lin Fan’s greatest worry now, it would be whether this group of fairies would turn around and hunt him down after he completed his mission.

After all, with the terrifying talent of these reincarnated fairies, let alone ten of them, even just one coming after him would be enough to smash Lin Fan into meat paste.

[Whether or not you will be hunted by the fairies in the future will depend on your performance~]

[I’m done talking, I’m a bit sleepy. This system is going to get its beauty sleep now, good night~]

“Wait a minute!” Lin Fan called out to the system, which was about to fall asleep.

[Is there something else?]

The system asked, exhausted.

“Can you tell me how your talent levels are divided?”

Although Su Muxue’s talent and aptitude sounded very strong, Lin Fan wasn’t quite sure just how strong it was.

[This system divides a cultivator’s talent into seven levels. From lowest to highest, they are: Extremely Common, One in a Hundred, One in a Thousand Years, The Center of Myriad Gazes, Unparalleled in the World, Unprecedented and Unsurpassed, and Invincible King.]

“Holy crap!” Hearing this, Lin Fan was so shocked his jaw nearly dropped. “This new disciple’s talent is this terrifying?!”

[Eh? Host, you seem very confident~ It seems she hasn’t agreed to be your disciple yet, has she?]

“Hah~ Isn’t that just a matter of time~” Lin Fan waved his hand dismissively.

[…]

The system was rendered speechless by Lin Fan’s inexplicable confidence and simply submerged into his mind, no longer replying.

“Th-Thank you, Senior…”

Under the effects of the healing pill, Su Muxue’s injuries gradually improved.
She raised her head to look at Lin Fan before her and spoke with difficulty.

“Shh—”

Lin Fan made a silencing gesture, indicating for Su Muxue not to speak. “Rest easy, leave the rest to me.”

With that, Lin Fan stood up, his eyes turning to the Blue-Horned Evil Spirit with fury.

“Kid! Ignoring me earlier was one thing, but now you dare to glare at me?” Seeing Lin Fan’s almost murderous gaze, the Blue-Horned Evil Spirit continued to court death by cursing at Lin Fan.

“Was it you who beat her into this state?” Lin Fan’s gaze hardened, and he unconsciously clenched his fists.

“So what if it was?” The Blue-Horned Evil Spirit sneered, “Kid, I don’t care who you are. Since you’ve come, don’t even think about… Ah!”

Before the Blue-Horned Evil Spirit could finish, Lin Fan lunged forward in a single step and, with one palm, blasted the evil spirit’s body into smithereens.

“Thanks for that, little system.” After dealing with the trouble before him, Lin Fan dusted off his hands.

[Huh? Thanking me?]

Hearing Lin Fan’s words, the system was completely baffled.

[What are you thanking me for?]

“Of course I’m thanking you for giving me back my demonic power,” Lin Fan rolled his eyes at the system, “Or should I be thanking you for making me your host?!”

[Please, this system has always known how to assess a situation, alright?!]

The system retorted indignantly, feeling like it had been underestimated by Lin Fan.

Seriously, what a joke.

The fairies were on the brink of death. If it had kept his demonic power sealed—what difference would there be from being a blockhead?

“Senior—” Su Muxue struggled to sit up from the ground. “Thank you…”

“You’re welcome,” Lin Fan waved his hand dismissively, “What’s your name?”

“Replying to Senior,” Su Muxue slowly stood up from the ground, “This junior is named Su Muxue…”

“Then what about Su Mubing? Where is she?” Lin Fan asked bluntly.

!!!

Hearing Lin Fan’s question, Su Muxue’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.

‘How does he know my sister’s name? Could it be…’

“Don’t be afraid,” Lin Fan saw the apprehension in Su Muxue’s heart and quickly explained, “I came specifically to save you both.”

“R-Really?”

Su Muxue raised her head and looked into Lin Fan’s eyes.

The moment their gazes met, her subconscious told her that Lin Fan was not lying.

“Really.” Lin Fan nodded lightly, then turned his gaze to the other side. “Are these… your companions?”

“They… They…”

Gazing at the several cold corpses on the ground, Su Muxue’s beautiful eyes filled with tears. “It’s all my fault, I failed to protect them…”

“Don’t cry,” Lin Fan reached out and stroked Su Muxue’s forehead, “This isn’t your fault.”

“But—”

“No buts,” Lin Fan slowly stood up, “The most urgent matter now is to ensure the safety of your sister—Su Mubing.”

[Eh? Host, how did you know that Su Muxue is the older sister?]

“A man’s intuition,” Lin Fan replied faintly.

[Intuition?]

Hearing this answer from Lin Fan, the system’s tone was full of disdain.

[I think you’re just a blind cat stumbling upon a dead mouse~]

“Think whatever you want~” Lin Fan shrugged dismissively.

“Senior is right,” Su Muxue raised her hand to wipe the tears from her face, “Bing’er is right next door. Please follow me, Senior.”

Under Su Muxue’s guidance, Lin Fan soon saw Su Mubing, who was sleeping soundly, leaning in a corner.

‘Well now, truly worthy of being twin sisters. Their appearances are really identical!’ Lin Fan secretly praised in his heart.

“Buzz!”

Probably due to the greater number of fairies nearby, the usually quiet guiding stone actually began to tremble slightly.
At the same time, a few lines of information appeared before Lin Fan.

___

[Name: Su Mubing.]

[Age: 314 years old.]

[Race: Human.]

[Cultivation: Early-stage Great Ascension Realm.]

[Talent: Invincible King.]

___

!!!

For a moment, Lin Fan thought there was something wrong with his eyes.

He immediately rubbed them and looked at the panel again.

“In… Invincible King?!”

After confirming that he hadn’t seen wrong, Lin Fan was so shocked his eyeballs nearly fell out.

He had originally thought that Su Muxue’s cultivation talent was already monstrous enough.

But he had never expected that to be just an appetizer.

What is a prodigy? This is a prodigy!

‘Wait, that’s not right…’ Lin Fan seemed to have suddenly thought of something.

Since Su Mubing’s cultivation talent was so strong, why was her cultivation far inferior to Su Muxue’s?

“Senior, is there a problem?” Su Muxue asked with some confusion, seeing the dazed Lin Fan.

“Ah… no, it’s nothing…” Startled by Su Muxue, Lin Fan finally came back to his senses. “Right, there’s something I don’t understand. Since you were out on a training mission, didn’t the sect send anyone to protect you?”

“This…”

Su Muxue hesitated slightly, but in the end, she gritted her teeth and told Lin Fan the information she had just learned.

“What scum!” After listening to Su Muxue’s description, Lin Fan said angrily, “You two stay here for now, I’ll be right back.”

“Eh? Senior, but…”

Seeing that Lin Fan was about to leave, Su Muxue raised a hand to tug on his sleeve, her expression hesitant.

“Don’t worry,” Lin Fan smiled and took out two jade pendants from his robes, “Wear these on you, they will keep you both safe.”

Actually, Lin Fan could have taken the Su sisters back directly. After all, with his personality, he wouldn’t care about the lives of the other disciples.

But Lin Fan didn’t do so.

The reason was that Lin Fan wanted to see what on earth Hua Luoyan was up to.

Relying on his sensitivity to the aura of evil spirits, Lin Fan quickly found their main base—a pagoda-style structure with buildings packed closely together.

Peeking through the crack in the pagoda’s main gate, several tall, high-level evil spirits gradually came into Lin Fan’s view.

“What on earth is Third Brother doing? Why isn’t he back after so long?” Inside the courtyard, a Red-Horned Evil Spirit frowned and asked with some impatience.

“Who knows,” a red-faced evil spirit at the side said resentfully, “He’s always the last one to arrive every time, it’s really getting old!”

“Rather than discussing this,” an ugly-faced Blue-Horned Evil Spirit suddenly interjected, “we might as well think about what to do for our food after next year.”

“Hahaha—”

Hearing the Blue-Horned Evil Spirit’s words, the Red-Horned Evil Spirit suddenly burst out laughing. “You don’t really think… that after next year, Sect Master Hua can just sever ties with us, do you?”

“Isn’t… isn’t that the case?” the Blue-Horned Evil Spirit asked with some confusion.

“Of course not!” The Red-Horned Evil Spirit floated into mid-air and stretched its body slightly.

“In fact, all the Netherworld Blood Demon Flowers have already been implanted with a soul imprint by our clan leader. In other words—even if she masters the Earthly Fiend Blood Demon Art to perfection, in the end, she can only become a puppet of our clan.”

“Brilliant,” after hearing the Red-Horned Evil Spirit’s explanation, the Blue-Horned Evil Spirit couldn’t help but give a thumbs-up, “That’s a pretty nasty trick!”

“How can you call this nasty?” The Red-Horned Evil Spirit let out a strange laugh, “Doesn’t she want to rule the southern continent? We’re helping her realize her wish!”

‘Netherworld Blood Demon Flower, and… the Earthly Fiend Blood Demon Art?’

Based on these conversations, combined with what Su Muxue had described, the doubt in Lin Fan’s heart was instantly resolved.

“So that’s how it is,” Lin Fan, having learned the truth, smashed his fist into the door panel in anger. “What Sect Master, worse than a beast!”

The sudden noise startled the evil spirits inside.

Several of them raised their heads and looked in unison toward the door.

“Who? Who’s outside?!”
