Chapter 4: Betrayal

Yes… , that’s right. This is… the setup for Bad End 1!

Since this was the first ending she got in her previous life, Olivianne remembered it quite clearly. Even though a lot of

later gameplay had blurred her memory a bit, the moment she saw this familiar scene, everything came rushing back to

her.

Bad End 1 takes place in the latter half of the school arc. By this point, all three heroines have already betrayed Gawain,

and he has found out. But Gawain still refuses to believe that they would completely turn on him. He thinks they were just

forced by Cassius, and keeps trying over and over to persuade them to come back to him.

In the game, the first heroine, the black-haired childhood friend Meimel, gets annoyed by Gawain’s persistence. So, she

starts urging Cassius to get rid of him. Cassius, who already wanted to crush Gawain in utter despair to get him out of the

way, saw this as the perfect chance. Together, those two snakes set up a trap — and Gawain didn’t even notice.

The way they framed him was downright despicable — not even clever, just disgusting. They stole the underwear of

Natasha, the daughter of the Duke, and planted it inside Gawain’s bag. Then, when Natasha realized it was missing and

asked the teacher to help find the thief, they led the teacher right to Gawain’s bag. The evidence was solid. Just like that,

Gawain became the suspect.

What followed was the confrontation scene in the auditorium. Gawain, totally confused, would be dragged there. And

before he could even understand what was happening, Natasha would accuse him of stealing her underwear. Then

Cassius and the others would humiliate him publicly. Natasha’s father, the powerful Duke, would explode in rage, have

Gawain arrested, and make sure he was thrown into prison with the harshest sentence… And there, locked away in

despair, Gawain would never see the light again…

That’s the full plot of Bad End 1.

Olivianne frowned deeply as she kept watching the scene in front of her. She wanted to make sure again. The tense

atmosphere hadn’t faded. Amid the noise, the blond-haired bastard Cassius was the first to speak…

“Gawain, you really are disgusting. No wonder Meimel, Martina, and Rinne all left you. You’re such a piece of trash~”

As he spoke, Cassius — who was shorter than Gawain by a whole head — smugly walked right up to him. He tilted his

head back to meet Gawain’s angry glare with a nasty, gleeful grin. Then suddenly, he grabbed Gawain by the collar and

screamed like a maniac:

“You even dared to steal the underwear of the Duke’s daughter — what were you planning to do with it?! I can’t stand that

fake righteous act of yours! Drop the act already! The evidence is right there! Lady Natasha’s underwear was found in

your bag — what more proof do we need?! Hahaha! You might as well just confess already. If you admit it now, maybe…

I’ll even help plead your case with Lady Natasha~ since we’re so close, after all~”

Listening to this disgusting attempt to force a confession, Olivianne clenched her teeth tightly. This damn blond

bastard!!!

“I have nothing to do with you…”

On the other side, Gawain slowly raised his head and replied coldly. Looking at the blond and the three heroines, he

seemed to finally understand what was going on. As he looked at the faces of the girls he once loved, sorrow filled his eyes.

Meimel, the one being stared at, looked a little uncomfortable. She rolled her eyes, then coyly walked over to Cassius and

clung to his arm like a sweet little girl. Putting on a cute and soft tone, she said:

“How could we not be connected~? Cassius is my boyfriend now~ and you, pervy Gawain, you’re just my ex. So… in a

way, that kind of makes you two good buddies, doesn’t it~? Kukuku~ But y’know… Cassius is much better at everything

than you are~ Pfft~ Probably because you’re just a creepy, useless loser~ Hahahaha~”

That b*tch…

Standing in the crowd, Olivianne felt like her heart was being torn apart. Even though she wasn’t in Gawain’s place right

now, facing the betrayal head-on, she could still completely empathize with his pain. A lover not only betrays you and

runs into the arms of a sleazy man like Cassius, but also publicly hurls disgusting insults without caring one bit about

your reputation. It was… utterly infuriating!

Then, the other two heroines stepped forward as well. Martina, the tall, red-haired knight with a high ponytail — once the

most dependable big sister figure in the party — walked up with a disgusted look on her face. She said in a disappointed

tone:

“Gawain, maybe our leaving hurt you more than we thought. But don’t you think you should reflect on your own problems

too? If you still won’t admit fault even now… then I really was wrong about you.”

Finally, the last heroine — the silver-haired loli, Rinne, the Imperial Princess and the most noble person in the room —

stood still, staring at Gawain with an indifferent expression. After a long silence, she looked down and whispered:

“You’re just… disgusting. Why don’t you just go die already?”

【Holy sh*t! The things these girls are saying are messed up as hell. So disgusting!】

【If I were the protagonist, I wouldn’t want to live either…】

【They framed him, and now they’re acting like they really believe their own lies?】

【Classic case of the guilty shouting the loudest. No logic, just pure emotional assault.】

【Wait, so what’s the relationship between Gawain and Cassius? I’m lost.】

【Why doesn’t the protagonist say anything to defend himself? He’s so dumb! Just standing there and getting framed to

death!】

【Where’s Olivianne?! Come on, real heroine, do something already!】

Even the livestream comments couldn’t bear to watch anymore. People were furiously calling for Olivianne to step in and

do something…

But…

It’s no use anymore…

Olivianne took a deep breath. She had cleared this ending countless times and knew better than anyone — at this point in

the story, no matter what you did, the three heroines would never turn back.

She looked up and saw Gawain’s face filled with despair. Unable to bear it, she shut her eyes. She fully understood how he

felt. The reason he didn’t say anything in his defense was because… his heart was already broken.

He couldn’t believe that his lovers betrayed him. He couldn’t believe they would team up with someone like Cassius to set

him up. He couldn’t even understand what he had done wrong. All his trust had been shattered. Even they no longer

believed in him. So what would be the point of explaining anything?

Olivianne silently watched the scene unfold and slowly lowered her head. She understood exactly what was going through

Gawain’s mind.

That hopeless numbness — wasn’t she the same?
