Chapter 10: O Hero from Another World!

Actually, Mianbao was a very obedient person.
You see, she had never refused anything Kunta asked her to do.
Of course, she didn’t dare to refuse either.
After all, Kunta was not someone to be trifled with.
And the contract of servitude she was forced to sign was still with Kunta.

And now, after dinner, Mianbao dutifully went to keep watch by the injured man’s bedside.
At the same time, she also had the chance to get a good look at this strange man she and Zero had rescued from the forest.

To be honest, after seeing the man, Mianbao didn’t know how to describe him specifically.
If she were to evaluate a girl’s appearance, she could still squeeze out a few words.
But if she were to describe a man… there were probably only two words: “handsome” and “ugly.”

And it was obvious that the man before her belonged in the “handsome” category.
As for how handsome… Mianbao could only say this: “He’s probably half as handsome as I used to be.”
Of course, she said this through gritted teeth.
If anyone else had been there, it would have been easy to detect the sour tone in her voice.

The task Kunta gave her was simple, and also very tedious: to stay in the room until the man woke up.
Although it was a bit boring, at least she didn’t have to do that “limb-stretching” exercise that could totally kill her.

“You actually saved a man from the forest?” Kunta’s tone held a slight dissatisfaction.

Zero just kept her usual cold face.
“Yes, Grandma Kunta.”

“Never mind, I don’t mean to blame you. Let’s wait for him to wake up first.”

Mianbao was so bored she was squinting, her head nodding little by little as she was about to fall asleep.
Then, after suddenly jolting awake, she felt as if she had been in this small room for almost a century.
She also felt as if her body would be covered in cobwebs in the next moment.

“How can he sleep so much? Do such minor wounds really require that much rest?” Mianbao unhappily crossed her arms over her chest, staring daggers at Hu Qingyu’s face with a gaze that could kill a mosquito, as if trying to stab Hu Qingyu awake from what was either sleep or a coma with her glare.

It was unclear whether Mianbao’s needle-like gaze had worked or for some other reason, but Hu Qingyu actually groaned and began to wake up.

“Damn, he’s finally waking up.” Mianbao shot up from the chair she had brought over.

Upon waking, Hu Qingyu once again saw the girl whose looks were as beautiful as a celestial fairy, but whose attire was, to him, extremely revealing.
This time, however, he did not lose his composure as he had before.

“Ahem.” Hu Qingyu cleared his throat and said, “I am Hu Qingyu. Many thanks for your life-saving grace, miss.”

His name was Hu Qingyu, Mianbao understood that much.
But why was this person’s name so strange?

Mianbao had never heard anyone speak the way Hu Qingyu did.
Although every word was clear, she could only half-understand what he was saying.
Could this really be a dialect from some remote mountain village?

“But miss, why is your attire so indecent?” Hu Qingyu lowered his head, too embarrassed to look directly at Mianbao.

‘Attire? Are my clothes strange? What does indecent mean? Not good-looking?’ Black question marks began to pop up above Mianbao’s head.
With every sentence Hu Qingyu spoke, the number of question marks grew.

Hu Qingyu went on and on, saying a bunch of things to Mianbao.
Mianbao could only barely grasp what he was asking.
Her head felt twice its size, and the question marks clattered to the floor.

“Stop!” Mianbao held up a hand in a stopping gesture.
Her other hand trembled as she held her head.
“You wait, I’ll go get someone.”

After speaking, Mianbao fled as if escaping, rushing out the door.
She hurried to find Kunta for help. It wasn’t just her saying it; this man named Hu Qingyu was simply too strange.

“Hu Qingyu? That’s your name, correct?” Kunta sat down in the seat Mianbao had previously occupied and, at Mianbao’s request, began to converse with Hu Qingyu.

From the bed, Hu Qingyu politely cupped his fist to Kunta.
“That is correct, elder.”

Watching Hu Qingyu’s every move, Kunta frowned.
“From the looks of you, you’re from the Eastern Continent?”

“The Eastern Continent?” Hu Qingyu paused, then shook his head firmly.
“The place I am from is the largest nation in Shenzhou, the State of Yan.”

Even though Kunta was old and well-traveled, she, like Mianbao, could only half-understand some of the words Hu Qingyu used.
“Shenzhou? The State of Yan?”

“Young man, I have lived for many years and have traveled to every corner of the continent.
I have never heard of a place called Shenzhou, let alone a country called the State of Yan.”

“This…” Hu Qingyu cupped his chin in thought for a moment.
He finally decided to explain the whole story to this seemingly unfathomable old woman before him.
“Actually, this is what happened…”

After a lengthy explanation.

“You’re saying that when the sky was clear, a purple moon appeared in the sky.” Kunta’s brows furrowed tightly after hearing this.

“In my opinion, you may not belong to this world.” Kunta exhaled and explained something that was incredibly shocking to Hu Qingyu.

“Elder… wh-what is the meaning of this?”

Kunta stood up and turned her back to Hu Qingyu, adopting the air of a worldly sage.
“Beyond the world you live in, there are thousands upon thousands of other worlds you don’t know about.
It’s as if your world is a single grain of sand, and beyond that grain of sand, there is an countless number of other grains.”

“And you, right now, have moved from one grain of sand into another. Do you understand?”

Hu Qingyu’s comprehension was quite outstanding; he more or less understood what Kunta was saying.
“This junior understands. I never imagined the vast universe held such wonders.
Then, why have I moved from one ‘grain of sand’ into another?”

Kunta narrowed her eyes, a barely perceptible killing intent leaking from the thin slits.
“I fear it is because of the 【Dead Moon】, ‘Lan’ernaduo’…”

‘This planet… just how many unknown powers are there…’

“In any case, you can stay here with me for a few days.
I will help you understand some of the laws of this world.” Kunta said, looking at Hu Qingyu.
“Also, you can call me Kunta.”

Sitting on the bed, Hu Qingyu gave Kunta a grateful smile.
“Since that is the case, this junior is endlessly grateful!”

“Xixi, that guy is so weird!” Mianbao held a foxtail grass in her hand, waving it around continuously.
She complained to Xixi, “The way he talks is even weirder. I can barely understand him!”

“There, there, Big Sister Mianbao. Grandma Kunta is here, so you don’t need to be like this.” Xixi smiled faintly and reached for the foxtail grass in Mianbao’s hand.
“But Big Sister Mianbao, that fox… Hu Qingyu? What does he look like?”

Mianbao’s body stiffened.
“He’s alright, I guess. Not ugly. In any case, he’s not as handsome as me, that’s for sure.”
