Hilda’s slightly androgynous voice echoed in the air above.
Her voice wasn’t loud, but everyone clearly heard it.
Then, a powerful force pushed Luo Li backward so hard that she nearly flew off the carriage. The entire cavalry unit suddenly accelerated!
Although it was only a few hundred riders, they thundered forward with the sound of ten thousand galloping hooves.
This was a heavy cavalry unit. Every knight wore armor weighing more than 300 jin (about 150 kg), and the armor on the horses was even heavier than the armor worn by the knights themselves.
Together, their combined weight exceeded 1,000 jin (around 500 kg). Charging at 50 kilometers per hour, such a force on a cold weapon battlefield was practically unstoppable.
No other military unit could survive even a single clash with a charging formation of fully armored heavy cavalry.
Luo Li took a deep breath. Her class skill could only be used once per day. While it had no time limit, the number of uses was restricted.
The skill could only block the first attack. The rest of its effects were support buffs for teammates.
She had to save it for the most crucial moment.
Her class skill, “Banner of the Moon, Guardian of the Glorious Night,” was powerful enough to turn the tide of a battle.
But the timing had to be perfect.
Too early, and it wouldn’t be able to block a later fatal blow. Too late, and the entire team could be wiped out. Then it would be too late for anything.
Luo Li stared straight ahead. The central camp of the demon army was getting closer and closer.
At this moment, the demon army also reacted and began sending troops to reinforce their flanks.
However, to stay hidden and move quietly at night, they hadn’t brought enough troops. And they hadn’t expected a defensive counterattack at all.
The number of troops on the demon army’s flanks was only around one or two thousand.
Their central formation quickly fell into chaos, turning their weapons and formation toward Luo Li’s direction.
An ancient battlefield is like a chessboard—once you place a piece, there’s no taking it back.
This was the moment Luo Li had been waiting for!
Her understanding of the battlefield—
Especially ancient battlefields—
No nation could match the knowledge of a Chinese mind in this area.
The demon army’s central command was clearly trying to reorganize and redirect.
But the flank troops were a different story.
They weren’t elite soldiers like the center—they were basically disposable units.
Faced with such a sudden change, the flank fell into instant disarray.
Seeing this, Luo Li’s heart settled.
At this point, the odds of winning were roughly 64 to 36.
She held the upper hand!
Victory was possible!
However, the flank was made up almost entirely of cavalry—and specifically, wolf cavalry!
Each rider sat atop a wolf-type beast, and most of them were demonized werewolves.
At night, werewolves were even more powerful.
She couldn’t use her skill yet. What she needed to do now was conserve her strength—and wait for the critical moment.
So, Luo Li watched with her own eyes as a portion of the wolf cavalry broke off from the main group and charged toward her.
But none of her knights showed any fear.
Hilda raised her long spear high and shouted:
“Kill!”
The two forces surged forward like crashing waves in the night and collided with a heavy impact.
In that first instant, Luo Li clearly saw—at the very front of the cavalry charge—Hilda leading the way.
A single wolf rider was instantly torn apart by Hilda’s spiral-patterned lance!
It was like stabbing a sheet of thin paper with a knife—the lance pierced the wolf cavalry soldier’s body with no resistance. The massive momentum ran him through completely.
The demonized werewolf’s body slid forward along the spear before being ripped apart by the weapon’s powerful shaft.
The werewolf’s face twisted in pain and despair, but it all happened in a blink.
The next second, its body fell into the cavalry ranks and was trampled to pieces under the heavy hooves.
The wolf cavalry hadn’t had time to reach full speed, nor had they finished forming proper lines. In their rushed response, they stood no chance against the fully-charged heavy cavalry—they were crushed into the ground like mud!
The scene was brutally bloody and violent.
Screams, wolf howls, galloping hooves, crashing weapons—the sounds echoed nonstop!
The demon army’s signature black blood sprayed everywhere like it was free, splattering across the land.
The yellow soil turned pitch-black!
In front of Luo Li’s carriage, a row of five knights stood firm, blocking every flying corpse and splash of blood.
Until Hilda broke through the wolf cavalry formation, not a single drop of black blood touched Luo Li.
But the stench in the air made her throat tighten in disgust.
Demon blood was corrosive to other races and smelled unbearably foul.
The air filled with that twisted, putrid scent.
Suppressing her nausea, Luo Li stood firm at the front of the carriage, gripping the Moon Banner that had been planted into the wooden floor, her gaze locked onto the central demon camp.
That was where the true victory or defeat of the battle would be decided.
Just as the demon army’s center and flank were about to recover their order, a voice suddenly rang out from within the city—
“Thanks be to God’s miracle, bringing light to us… Great Light Spell!”
Luo Li quickly turned around and saw a group of clergy in white robes standing on the city wall.
Each of them held a Holy Church scripture in their hands. Their expressions were full of sorrow, mixed with compassion. All of them stood with open arms, as if trying to embrace the darkness.
Then, before them—a single point of light—
Lit up the world.
That light instantly expanded into a glowing sphere ten meters wide.
Its radiance was blinding.
The demon army was facing the west wall directly, and the light flared up right on top of it. They were forced to raise their hands to shield their eyes.
At the same time, another voice echoed from the city walls:
“Great Fire Spirit—bare your fangs at our enemies!
Heavenly Fire Rain!!”
With a sharp sound of wind slicing through the air, the sky lit up again. A small fireball dropped from above, landing squarely on the face of a demonized beast.
The fireball exploded—the beast didn’t even have time to react. Its entire head vanished, and only a scorched, smoking neck remained.
Then, more slicing sounds filled the sky.
But this time… not just one.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh~!
Like a meteor shower, a downpour of flaming magic rained down from above!
It was the magic unit of Glory City—no one had expected they still had the power to cast such high-level magic!
