Chapter 28-Part 1: The Kiss and the Embrace

The instant Duan Yan’s eyes fully opened, Song Jin panicked and transformed back into an orange cat.

“Mewl~”

Still shaken, Song Jin met Duan Yan’s eyes and let out an ingratiating meow.

Her hand, which she hadn’t had time to retract, turned into a soft paw, resting gently beside Duan Yan’s face.

Her fluffy tail seemed to have a will of its own, uncontrollably winding around Duan Yan’s neck and rubbing gently, as if craving a more intimate contact.

Through a hazy vision, Duan Yan vaguely saw a woman.

She seemed to look just like Song Jin, the one who was always clamoring to defeat her.

As her pupils focused on a single point, what she saw was the little orange cat, right before her eyes.

‘Was that just an illusion?’

‘Right, that little girl should be far away from me. How could she possibly appear on my bed?’

But she didn’t know why; lately, she felt that the little one’s attitude towards her had softened, even carrying a hint of deliberate ingratiation.

Perhaps she had grown up a bit during her training camp, realized her past childishness, and wanted to compensate her.

Duan Yan shook her head, casting the thought aside, and looked at the little orange cat before her.

The little orange cat’s fur pressing against her body brought a delicate, soft, and warm sensation, like a ray of sunshine in winter, gently pulling Duan Yan back to reality from the abyss of her dream.

Its eyes, like dewdrops on a clear autumn morning, were moist and hazy, its amber pupils clear and transparent.

The cat from her dream overlapped with the real figure before her.

Duan Yan remembered the sight of the little orange cat lying in a pool of blood, and a trace of fear couldn’t help but rise in her heart.

She gently held the little orange cat’s paw, pulling it into her embrace, and softly stroked its fluffy little head, whispering almost deliriously, “Don’t leave me.”

‘Yes, Song Jin did indeed like sleeping in an embrace with Duan Yan, but not like this!!’

Song Jin could feel her own cheek pressed tightly against a mound of soft, snow-white skin.

The collar of Duan Yan’s nightgown was slightly open, and with a single careless glance, one could glimpse the faint scenery within.

Song Jin accidentally looked up and saw it, her face instantly turning crimson.

She didn’t even dare to lift her eyes again.

Song Jin gently wriggled her body, trying to quietly slip out of Duan Yan’s embrace, but Duan Yan’s arms were like iron hoops, making it impossible for her to escape.

‘But if I struggle too hard, I’ll disturb my wife’s sleep. What am I to do?’

Song Jin sighed lightly and, in the end, obediently lay in the crook of Duan Yan’s arm.

‘Wife won’t let me move, so I can only accept it helplessly.’

Duan Yan contentedly hugged the “plush toy” in her arms.

Sleepiness washed over her once more, and she sank back into dreamland.

This time, there were no nightmares to disturb her, only a sweet and unbelievably beautiful dream.

Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting mottled light and shadow on the little orange cat.

In her grandmother’s backyard, the daisies from her memory were in full bloom.

She and the little orange cat ran and played freely.

The afterglow of the sunset gradually stained the sky red.

They rested on the grass, the little orange cat nestled on her lap.

Until the very end of the dream, the little orange cat was always there.

In her sleep, Duan Yan couldn’t help but reveal a faint smile.

And Song Jin, alone, faced this sweet temptation, swallowing hard.
