X
At four in the afternoon, Duan Yan had one last scene at the film set.
Duan Yan found the previously lost safety charm and put it back on the little cat’s neck, her movements solemn and focused.
“Baby, don’t lose it again this time, okay~”
“Meow.”
The string had been replaced.
The color was still red, but the material was clearly much harder to break.
‘I’m sorry. I’ll never leave you again.’
Song Jin was filled with guilt.
She nodded enthusiastically and rubbed her fluffy little head against Duan Yan’s palm, a trace of unspeakable apology mixed in with her fawning.
Curly witnessed the boss, who had been so ferocious last night, now so docilely pleasing the two-legged beast.
The words were on the tip of her tongue, but seeing Song Jin’s glare, she tactfully shut her mouth.
The two little cats were brought to the set by Duan Yan together and instantly became the center of attention.
Most of the crew members were experienced elders who had no resistance to such fluffy, cute creatures.
They immediately wanted to reach out and touch the soft fur.
“Wow, what a cute little cat.”
However, Song Jin only allowed Duan Yan to pet her.
If anyone else reached out, she would mercilessly show her claws.
“Hiss—”
There was only one person who made Song Jin hesitate—Director Yuan Si.
She knew this director’s status in Duan Yan’s heart; she was a close person whom she valued greatly.
After much deliberation, Song Jin decided to lower herself and act cute.
“Mewl~”
Song Jin let go of her pride and started acting coquettishly towards Director Yuan Si.
“Hey, this cat even knows how to suck up to the powerful!”
“Yeah, it seems Director Yuan has the strongest presence here.”
The crew members teased one after another.
Being treated so specially by this little cat, Yuan Si’s eyebrows shot up.
She was clearly very happy.
Seeing that she had left a good impression on Yuan Si, Song Jin was secretly delighted, feeling that she was one step closer to her wife.
Duan Yan couldn’t help but laugh when she saw that the cat would only let her and Yuan Si pet it.
“By the way, this cat doesn’t have an owner. Does anyone want to raise it? See if you have a connection. You can take it home.”
Duan Yan pointed to the other little cat and suggested.
All the crew members’ eyes immediately focused on the other little orange cat, Curly.
Curly felt the pressure and looked to Song Jin for help.
‘Boss, save me!’
“So cute, let me pinch it~”
“Its fur is the same as the other one’s. Let me pet it.”
Curly had a gentle personality and wouldn’t flash her claws randomly.
She was soon being passed around and “huffed” by the crew members.
“Mewl—”
‘Boss, help!’
Curly was being petted by several pairs of hands, and someone’s face was even buried in her belly for a huff.
She was forced to let out only a weak sound from her throat.
But in the ears of the cat-huffers, this was a sign that the cat was very comfortable being petted, so they petted her even more wantonly.
“Little Duan, this cat of yours, it feels just right to pet. Just let me raise it. It can keep me company. You should know my character. You don’t have to worry about me abusing it.”
One of the actors smiled at Duan Yan, deciding to adopt this orange cat.
“Of course I trust you. After the scene is done, you can take this cat back with you.”
Curly couldn’t understand human language, but she felt uneasy.
She wanted to struggle but couldn’t move.
She could only look helplessly at Song Jin, hoping she would save her from this fiery ordeal.
Song Jin watched as Curly was manhandled by the other actors and couldn’t stop laughing.
When she heard the actor wanted to adopt Curly, she hesitated, but still decided to send Curly back to be reunited with her calico cat.
“Just stay put. I’ll send you back later.”
When the time came, Director Yuan Si called Duan Yan’s name, signaling the other actors to prepare for the next scene.
“Stop playing with the cats, everyone. Get ready, it’s time to start filming.”
Duan Yan gently patted the little orange cat’s head, stood up, and instructed, “Mommy is going to work now. Be good and wait for me to come back, okay~”
Song Jin meowed in acknowledgment.
The other actors also let go of Curly.
After being thoroughly rua-ed, Curly lay sprawled on the table, her eyes vacant, as if her body had been completely hollowed out.
Xu Qin was left here by Duan Yan to watch the cats and prevent them from running off.
“Boss, I miss my wife so much—”
“I know.” Song Jin directly cut off Curly’s impending display of affection.
Song Jin whispered in Curly’s ear.
Curly cooperated with Song Jin, and together they shook off Xu Qin.
With no one watching, Song Jin prepared to send Curly away.
Just a few steps out, Curly suddenly sensed a familiar scent.
“Boss, wait, there’s a very familiar feeling around here.”
Song Jin: ?
Curly suddenly dashed off happily, running up to a cat.
“Darling, it’s you~”
Song Jin saw the cat that Curly was circling.
It was a charming calico cat, with an elegant posture, a well-proportioned body, and thick, glossy fur.
Its two pointed ears stood erect, the tips a hint of black.
Its eyes were large and bright, its pupils shimmering in the sunlight.
This silly orange cat actually had such a beautiful calico wife!
The calico cat narrowed its eyes, glanced at Song Jin, then ignored her.
It stuck out its tongue and gently licked the orange cat’s ear.
Curly seemed used to being groomed by the calico, closing her eyes slightly and immersing herself in the moment.
“Wifey, I missed you so much. How did you get here? Why is it a little dusty here? I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have run off and made you worry…”
Curly looked carefully at the calico cat’s appearance, her eyes filled with affection, her heart aching for her.
She hurriedly helped the calico cat brush the dust off her fur.
After looking her up and down and finding no wounds or the smell of blood, she finally relaxed.
“Mm.” The calico cat let Curly fuss over her without responding, simply pressing closely against her, sharing body heat.
The orange cat nestled its head in the crook of the calico’s neck, while the calico gently rested a front paw on the orange cat’s back in a silent reassurance.
Song Jin only felt that her mouth was stuffed full of something strange.
After they had been all lovey-dovey, Curly pointed at Song Jin and said, “Wifey, she’s the one who saved me.”
“Thank you very much.” The calico cat’s voice was faint, yet it carried a barely perceptible politeness.
She lifted her head, her ink-like eyes staring at Song Jin, but her tail was hooked around Curly’s, full of possessiveness, as if silently telling Song Jin not to have any improper thoughts about Curly.
‘Is she treating me as a love rival?’
‘Please, how could I possibly be interested in this silly Curly? What is she thinking?!’
The person she liked was Duan Yan.
She really wanted to rush up to that calico cat and say: She already has someone.
‘But, Duan Yan hasn’t confessed to me yet, boohoohoo…’
‘Alright, alright, bullying me for having no official status, is that it?’
Song Jin forced a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.
“It was nothing.”
Curly remained as dense as ever, completely oblivious to what had just happened, and said foolishly, “Sister, no need for thanks for such a great kindness. If there’s a chance in the future, I’ll treat you to the most delicious mouse.”
“No need for the mouse.”
Song Jin pursed her lips, showing no interest.
Fifteen minutes had passed since they shook off Xu Qin.
Using the crew’s security system and surveillance, Xu Qin found the two orange cats.
“Why are you running around? What if you get caught by bad people?”
The moment Xu Qin saw the two orange cats, she was furious.
Seeing Curly with the calico cat, she was about to pick Curly up.
“Meow—”
The calico cat was very alert and pressed tightly against Curly.
Curly also leaned tightly against the calico, unwilling to leave.
Xu Qin was baffled.
What was going on?
“Mewl.”
Song Jin pulled on Xu Qin’s pant leg.
Xu Qin gave the actor who was supposed to adopt Curly a call.
That actor had no scenes and arrived quickly.
Xu Qin explained, “It’s these two cats. Who would have thought this orange cat would fall for the calico so quickly!”
“Perfect, I’ll take them all back.”
That actor stretched out her hand, coaxing, “Meow, do you want to come back with Auntie? There are lots of dried fish snacks to eat~”
The calico cat took a step forward, blocking Curly, and looked the newcomer up and down.
“Are you willing to go with her? Don’t worry, this person… this two-legged beast is very nice.”
Song Jin persuaded.
She was originally going to send Curly to be reunited with the calico cat, but now they were already reunited.
If they were adopted, they wouldn’t have to be strays anymore.
The calico cat hesitated for a moment, but finally extended a paw, agreeing to the adoption.
Since the calico agreed, Curly naturally agreed as well.
As they were leaving, Curly seemed to remember something.
After whispering a few words to the calico cat, she ran to Song Jin and said quietly, “Sister, you stay by the two-legged beast’s side. Those people like it when we do this and this…”
Listening to the techniques Curly was imparting, a blush crept onto Song Jin’s face.
‘Will that really work?’
‘Maybe I should try it out next time?’
Watching Curly and her calico wife leave, a smile returned to Song Jin’s face.
Now she was the only cat by Duan Yan’s side.
She was going to monopolize Duan Yan and win her over!
Song Jin wasn’t far from the film set.
She had originally planned to turn into her human form to send Curly to find the calico cat, but she hadn’t expected to be bombarded with their public display of affection!
Curly’s matter was settled.
Song Jin and Xu Qin returned to the set, while the calico and Curly were taken home by that actor.
