Time seemed to freeze in that moment.
Su Cheng stood rooted to the spot like a wooden statue, her face stiff.
Seeing Su Cheng’s slightly sunburned cheeks, Yin Xuelian showed a hint of distress.
“Little Orange, you definitely didn’t put on sunscreen, did you? Your face is all red from the sun.”
Snapping out of her daze, Su Cheng was forced to face reality.
She and Yin Xuelian had become the center of everyone’s attention.
“Let me wipe your sweat first.”
Yin Xuelian pulled a handkerchief from her bag, raising it to wipe Su Cheng’s face.
But Su Cheng intercepted her hand mid-air.
“Sen… senior, I can do it myself.”
Yin Xuelian furrowed her brows in dissatisfaction, muttering, “I told you to call me Sister Lian. Why can’t you get it right?”
Su Cheng could only offer an apologetic smile.
“Habit… just a habit, Sister Lian. No need to trouble you, I’ll do it myself.”
Su Cheng reached for the handkerchief, but Yin Xuelian twisted away, dodging her.
Yin Xuelian gently pinched Su Cheng’s chin, a slight smirk curving her lips.
Su Cheng froze like a kitten grabbed by the scruff, motionless.
“Listen to your sister, be good~”
A wave of goosebumps erupted across Su Cheng’s skin.
Yin Xuelian’s soft, syrupy voice was overwhelmingly lethal.
“W-Well… alright then.”
Su Cheng gave in to Yin Xuelian’s wishes, letting her wipe the sweat from her cheeks.
Her eyes never dared meet Yin Xuelian’s gaze.
Deep down, Su Cheng felt embarrassed—especially being so intimate under everyone’s watchful eyes.
‘What on earth is Yin Xuelian up to?’
Lin Shiyue stood to the side, coldly observing their actions.
Her tightly clenched fists left faint nail marks on her palms.
Her eyes held one part hatred, two parts wariness, three parts displeasure, and four parts bitterness.
It was the look of someone glaring at a romantic rival.
“Let me put some sunscreen on you, or you’ll get tanned and won’t look as pretty.”
After putting away the handkerchief, Yin Xuelian pulled out a tube of sunscreen.
It seemed her bag was packed with things prepared just for Su Cheng.
“I can at least put on sunscreen myself, right?”
Yin Xuelian shook her head, letting out a low hum of refusal.
“I’ll do it for you. You won’t apply it properly.”
‘It’s just sunscreen, slap it on your face and you’re done, right?’
Su Cheng could only grumble inwardly.
Right now, she just wanted Yin Xuelian’s antics to end quickly.
Yin Xuelian squeezed a small dollop of sunscreen onto her palm.
She dabbed some onto her fingertips and began applying it to Su Cheng’s face.
Then, with her palm, she gently smoothed it over Su Cheng’s cheeks, tenderly spreading it out.
After finishing her face, she moved to Su Cheng’s slightly sunburned arms.
“All done~”
After applying the sunscreen, Yin Xuelian seized the chance to cup Su Cheng’s face, giving it a gentle knead.
“Mm… Sister… what are you doing…”
Yin Xuelian giggled happily, her hands continuing to knead as if molding dough.
“Hehe, Little Orange’s face is so soft. It feels so nice.”
Su Cheng took half a step back to escape Yin Xuelian’s grasp.
But Yin Xuelian reacted swiftly, grabbing Su Cheng’s arm to prevent any escape.
“Sister Lian, don’t do this…”
Su Cheng couldn’t stay calm for even a second.
The curious and speculative stares around her were already making her heart race.
Yin Xuelian let out a soft sigh, feigning sadness as she wiped the corner of her eye, her tone laced with grievance.
“Do you dislike your sister that much? Did I do something wrong? I’ll change… just don’t hate me, okay?”
Su Cheng nearly spat out a mouthful of blood but held it back by covering her mouth.
‘Good grief, are you sure you studied broadcasting and not acting?’
Since when did Yin Xuelian become such a skilled actress?
‘Did all my ex-girlfriends gain some kind of talent boost after I was reborn?’
‘And why is my talent being flat-chested?’
“I didn’t mean it like that, Sister Lian. Don’t misunderstand.”
Yin Xuelian gazed at her pitifully, pulling a delicately wrapped gift box from her bag.
The moment Su Cheng saw the gift box, her eyes lit up.
She finally understood Yin Xuelian’s true intentions.
Yin Xuelian firmly grasped Su Cheng’s hand, personally placing the gift box in her palm.
“I know it was my fault yesterday for making your phone fall into the water. You must be upset with me. So, I hope you’ll accept this new phone I bought for you.”
Before Su Cheng could respond, the onlookers began murmuring among themselves.
“Wow, I’m so jealous. The campus belle personally gifting a phone? This girl’s too lucky.”
“Sigh, why is the gap between people so huge?”
“Shouldn’t we be more concerned about how the campus belle caused her phone to fall into the water?”
Su Cheng stared at the gift box in her hand, hesitating for a moment before deciding…
“This is too expensive. I can’t…”
Yin Xuelian’s soft finger pressed against Su Cheng’s moist lips, cutting her off.
Su Cheng stared blankly at Yin Xuelian’s face, unable to decipher the deeper meaning behind her smile.
“Be good and take it. It’ll ease my guilt. I think you’ll like it.”
As Yin Xuelian smiled, she gently patted Su Cheng’s head, her expression brimming with affection.
The surrounding crowd’s eyes were filled with envy and jealousy.
“Are you free for lunch after morning training?”
Su Cheng wanted to refuse, but seeing the expensive gift Yin Xuelian gave her, she felt obliged to express her gratitude.
After all, she was someone who repaid kindness.
Plus, she wanted to figure out what Yin Xuelian’s actions truly meant.
“I’m free.”
Yin Xuelian beamed with joy.
“Great, it’s a deal then. I’ll wait for you over there. The student council’s organizing people to hand out water to the freshmen during training. If Little Orange runs out of water, come find me anytime.”
Su Cheng swallowed hard.
Yin Xuelian’s words hit her like a bombshell.
It seemed Yin Xuelian was really planning to keep an eye on her during military training!
The thought alone was terrifying.
Beep beep! Assemble, assemble!
Instructor Qiu’s whistle snapped the murmuring crowd back to attention.
Su Cheng bid farewell to Yin Xuelian.
“I’m off to training, Sister Lian. See you later.”
Yin Xuelian nodded, her eyes narrowing with a smile as she cheered Su Cheng on.
“Mm, go get ‘em, Little Orange!”
Su Cheng gave an awkward smile.
With so many people watching, Yin Xuelian didn’t care about her status as student council president and campus belle, openly cheering for her.
Su Cheng could hardly handle it.
Returning to the formation, Su Cheng distinctly felt a sharp gaze boring into her from behind.
It was Lin Shiyue’s icy stare.
She was angry.
But why was she angry?
Su Cheng was puzzled.
‘Unless…’
A bold guess struck her.
If Lin Shiyue was also a transmigrator, it would all make sense.
In her past life, after breaking up with Lin Shiyue, Su Cheng’s second girlfriend was Yin Xuelian.
Back then, when Su Cheng got together with Yin Xuelian, Lin Shiyue had confronted her, causing trouble.
It was Su Cheng who stepped in to resolve their conflict.
Earlier, Su Cheng had noticed the way Lin Shiyue looked at Yin Xuelian—like she was staring at a romantic rival, just like in her past life.
This made it even more likely that Lin Shiyue was a transmigrator.
The thought sent chills down her spine…
“You there, white-hair, focus!”
“Yes, sir!”
Su Cheng snapped to attention, stomping her foot and straightening up, her gloomy expression shifting.
But if Lin Shiyue was a transmigrator, then Yin Xuelian…
Could she be one too?
Hiss…
