Chapter 12: Dear Sister Lian

When the sun reached its zenith, the neat formation on the sports field quickly dispersed into disarray.

Su Cheng relaxed her shoulders, slowly exhaling. Pea-sized beads of sweat trickled down her smooth, fair cheeks.

The morning military training was over, but Su Cheng’s heart remained tense.

First, Lin Shiyue’s odd behavior, then Yin Xuelian’s unexpected appearance.

All these unusual signs indicated that these two were somewhat abnormal.

This abnormality was directed solely at Su Cheng.

Her hand was suddenly grasped, the force coming from Lin Shiyue behind her.

Su Cheng turned around, puzzled, to look at Lin Shiyue: “Class Monitor? What’s wrong?”

Lin Shiyue’s rosy cheeks concealed a hint of worry, and she asked in a low voice, “Are you really going to eat with her?”

Su Cheng nodded lightly, taking off her hat and untangling her matted hair, her eyes showing three parts seriousness.

“I’ve already promised Upperclassman, I can’t break my word.”

Although she had received an answer, Lin Shiyue still didn’t let go of her, her brow slightly furrowed.

“Must you go?”

Su Cheng nodded, offering no reply.

Lin Shiyue’s unusual behavior made Su Cheng even more suspicious of Lin Shiyue’s identity.

Having asked her question, Lin Shiyue released her, a faint smile appearing on her face.

“Alright then, I’ll make plans with you another day, and you’re not allowed to refuse then, okay?”

Su Cheng smiled helplessly, remaining silent.

At this moment, a shadow enveloped Su Cheng.

Su Cheng turned around and met Yin Xuelian’s gaze.

Yin Xuelian had already brought her things, the most important of which was naturally the phone she gave her.

“Little Orange, are you two done chatting? If we don’t go eat now, the cafeteria will be full.”

Su Cheng, maintaining a smile, nodded her head slightly, and the next second she was pulled into Yin Xuelian’s parasol.

“Then we’ll be going first, Student Lin, you should also go eat quickly.”

Lin Shiyue nodded with a sweet smile, her hands slowly clenching: “Okay, upperclassman, take care.”

Yin Xuelian gave Lin Shiyue a happy smile, laced with a hint of victory, and led Su Cheng away from the sports field.

Lin Shiyue watched them leave through gritted teeth, her clenched fists rock-hard. The current Lin Shiyue could probably punch through a wooden board.

“Damn it, damn it, damn it!”

Lin Shiyue’s face was flushed with anger, and she stomped her foot to vent her emotions, her eyes welling up with mist as she looked towards the sky.

‘Pull yourself together, she’s not necessarily yours, Yin Xuelian.’

Lin Shiyue secretly encouraged herself, her low mood gradually gathering itself.

She still had time, still had a chance.

After Su Cheng was taken away by Yin Xuelian, she naturally became the focus of passersby.

Whether freshmen or students from other grades, more or less everyone noticed the pink-and-white pairing.

“How did the campus belle get together with the white-haired freshman? OMG!”

“You obviously haven’t checked the forum, someone already leaked it yesterday.”

“Really? How did I not see that post?”

Su Cheng heard the passersby’s conversation, and a question arose in her mind.

She hadn’t paid attention to the forum since last night, after all, her phone was already out of commission.

Listening to their conversation, it was highly likely that the post had already been deleted.

That was good news, but the commotion from military training today had probably already been posted on the forum, becoming a hot topic again.

“Upper… Sister Lian, this isn’t the way to the cafeteria, is it?”

Yin Xuelian explained: “Of course we’re not going to the cafeteria. I’m taking you to a place I often go to, in the food street near the school.”

This answer surprised Su Cheng.

“Huh? I thought Sister Lian was going to take me to another cafeteria.”

Yin Xuelian’s lips curved into a smile: “You don’t want to attract attention again, do you? Yesterday when we ate together, quite a few people were staring at us.”

“That’s true.”

Su Cheng naturally understood what Yin Xuelian was talking about, but she felt that her words contradicted herself.

If she didn’t want to attract attention, then why did she give a gift in such a way during military training?

Everything seemed illogical.

Such contradictions made Su Cheng feel even more baffled.

She could only take things one step at a time, adapting as she went.

The two arrived at the food street and continued deeper into it, finally reaching a small stir-fry restaurant called “Zhenzhen Restaurant.”

Staring at the sign, Su Cheng suddenly recalled memories from her previous life.

This was Yin Xuelian’s favorite small restaurant, and her favorite dishes here were the sweet and sour pork ribs and the crispy fried meat.

“Oh, little girl, you’re here again! You brought someone today too, what would you like to eat?”

As soon as they entered the door, the proprietress enthusiastically greeted them.

“Crispy fried meat and sweet and sour pork ribs.”

As expected, everything was just as Su Cheng had predicted; it seemed the one eating with her was still the familiar Yin Xuelian.

“Little Orange, what do you want to eat?”

Su Cheng still remembered the mixed rice dish she often ordered here.

“Scrambled eggs with tomatoes.”

“Alright, alright, please have a seat and wait for a moment, we’ll arrange it right away.”

The proprietress poured tea for the two and then returned to the kitchen. Su Cheng and Yin Xuelian found a corner seat.

While waiting for the food, Su Cheng opened the gift box Yin Xuelian gave her to see what was inside.

“Wow, the latest limited edition collaboration phone with Dorothy, it looks so good.”

The pink shell of the iQOO phone was very girlish, but Su Cheng had a high level of acceptance. Besides, she was a girl now, what was wrong with a pink phone?

“This phone was discontinued two months ago, Sister Lian, how did you get it?”

Yin Xuelian smiled sweetly: “I have money power. Anything you like, I can get for you.”

Su Cheng was touched for a little while.

But how did Yin Xuelian know she would like this phone?

According to her previous life, before Yin Xuelian even knew her, she had no idea about that game.

Yin Xuelian noticed the curiosity and surprise in Su Cheng’s eyes.

“You must be curious, right? Actually, I saw your phone case that day and paid attention to it. After looking it up online, I found out about that game, and coincidentally there was a collaboration phone, so I bought it for you.”

Su Cheng nodded as she listened, but she still harbored doubts about Yin Xuelian being a reborn person.

“You can use it now, there’s no password, and the game has already been downloaded for you.”

‘Well, that’s thoroughly prepared.’

Yin Xuelian continued, “My number is already saved in this phone. If you ever have an emergency and need to find me, you can just call me.”

Su Cheng opened the contacts, and the empty contact list only had one number labeled “My Dearest Sister Lian.”

“Pfft, why is there a ‘My Dearest’ in front??? And I can’t even change it???”

‘This is outrageous! Absolutely outrageous!’

“Hehe, in short, you can’t change the note, unless I change it, and you can’t delete it either.”

Su Cheng was puzzled. Where did such black technology come from in 2021? Not even in 2025!

“Can you do whatever you want if you have money? Even mess with a phone’s contact list.”

Yin Xuelian nodded with mysterious confidence: “Of course. As long as it’s something I want, there’s nothing I haven’t been able to do so far.”

“Little Orange, don’t you agree?”

Yin Xuelian’s meaningful words sounded an alarm in Su Cheng’s heart.

‘It’s not like if Yin Xuelian wanted her, she could just kidnap her, right?’

‘That would be kidnapping!’

Su Cheng, who didn’t respond, sat there with a dry, dazed laugh. She couldn’t think of anything else to say to Yin Xuelian.

Yin Xuelian swirled the tea in her cup, her eyes reflecting Su Cheng’s slightly awkward face, drinking her tea without saying anything.

The air suddenly became quiet, with only the sounds of stir-frying coming from the kitchen.

Su Cheng couldn’t guess Yin Xuelian’s thoughts, only a faint sixth sense told her.

‘This meal is a Hongmen banquet.’
