When Arisugawa Yuu finally arrived at the courtyard for lunch using the Wind-Riding Incantation, the stone table was already set with bowls, chopsticks, and a feast of delicious dishes.
Miyamizu Rin gave him a glance with her clear eyes—*Why are you so slow?*
Of course, Arisugawa Yuu had a reason for his delay. He’d excitedly flown around the entire Miyamizu Shrine, then landed on the wooden boardwalk by the river just to enjoy the breeze. Early spring was still chilly, and the river wind felt icy against the skin. Luckily, he was a guy wearing pants. If a girl had been wearing a short skirt, that wind would’ve been unbearable.
Seeing him approach, Miyamizu Yukisato—Koyuki—pouted: “Arisugawa-onii-chan is such a meanie, always bullying me! Big sis said the wooden doll stopped moving because *you* withdrew its spiritual energy.”
Ignoring the white fox Koyuki’s complaints, Arisugawa Yuu grinned at Miyamizu Rin: “Senpai, I finally understand why so many girls wear undershorts. If I’m not mistaken, when you wear your miko outfit, you wear them too, right? I mean, flying around in the sky—without them, you’d risk exposure *and* get freezing cold.”
Miyamizu Rin pressed her fingers to her temple, her stunning face twisted in pain: “Arisugawa-kun, if you spent half this energy on cultivation instead of analyzing such *indecent* topics, I’d actually feel proud of you.”
“……”
Was it just Arisugawa Yuu’s imagination, or did Miyamizu Rin, for a brief moment, resemble his mother?
Especially when she said, “I’d feel proud of you,” and gave that warm, slightly exasperated, *motherly* smile—his illusion deepened.
Unfazed by being ignored, Koyuki wore a mischievous grin and whispered: “Arisugawa-onii-chan, let me tell you a secret—big sis *sometimes* wears undershorts… and sometimes she *doesn’t*~”
No way?
Arisugawa Yuu was stunned. “When doesn’t she?”
“Make the wooden doll move again, and I’ll tell you.”
Koyuki puffed her cheeks, setting her terms.
Just like a little fox spirit—so many tricks up her sleeve.
“All things in the world, obey my command.”
Arisugawa Yuu activated the Divine Soldier Incantation. The wooden doll beside Koyuki sprang back to life, moving on its own under his control.
Koyuki squealed with delight, hugging the doll tightly as it wiggled cutely in her arms.
“So fun! So fun!”
Her adorable face lit up with pure, innocent joy.
“And my answer?” Arisugawa Yuu reminded her.
Koyuki looked up, grinning: “Arisugawa-onii-chan, are you an idiot? Of *course* it’s when big sis is taking a bath!”
Ah—*facepalm*.
Arisugawa Yuu slapped his own forehead in self-disgust.
Of course. How could a refined beauty like Miyamizu Rin fly around in a short skirt without undershorts?
Still, he’d gained useful intel—no matter how powerful, Miyamizu Rin still needed to bathe.
For a moment, he wasn’t sure whether to feel happy or disappointed.
Happy because it made her feel more like a normal girl—less like a celestial being from another species.
Disappointed because it meant the cultivation novel trope—*reaching a level where you never get dirty or develop body odor*—wasn’t going to happen.
But on balance? Definitely more happy.
They say the highest realm forgets emotion. Though Miyamizu Rin still seemed like an ordinary girl now, who could say what would happen if she became truly godlike—free from human needs and desires? Over time, might she lose her feelings?
He didn’t want to fall in love with a cold, emotionless statue—even if that statue was breathtakingly beautiful.
Having been tricked by Koyuki, Arisugawa Yuu wasn’t about to let her off easy. That would be too embarrassing.
He started fishing for more info: “So when does senpai usually bathe?”
“Hmm~” Koyuki pursed her lips, pretending to think.
After about half a second, she clapped her hands: “Arisugawa-onii-chan, big sis usually—”
Before she could finish, a cold, murderous voice cut in from the side: “Do you two think I’m not here?”
Noticing Miyamizu Rin’s icy, trash-like gaze—like she was staring at some filthy insect—Arisugawa Yuu raised both hands in surrender faster than lightning: “Sorry, senpai, I was wrong!”
Was it just him, or had his apologies become *too* smooth and quick?
Miyamizu Rin’s clear eyes widened slightly, as if even *she* was stunned by his speed.
“……” She cleared her throat, patting her chest. “Good. Just don’t do it again.”
As her delicate hand patted her chest, her ample bosom swayed gently—so captivating it was hard to look away.
*Don’t look, don’t look.* Arisugawa Yuu forced himself to turn away.
*Just one last glance!*
*Really!*
In the end, he couldn’t resist—his eyes lingered one more second before he looked away.
Miyamizu Rin didn’t notice. After scolding Arisugawa Yuu, she turned to Koyuki.
She grabbed Koyuki’s snowy fox ear, voice icy: “Koyuki, are you an idiot? A wooden doll bribed you?”
“Big sis, I’m sorry, waaah~”
Even though Miyamizu Rin hadn’t pulled hard yet, Koyuki’s acting was top-tier. She puffed her cheeks, teared up, and let the tears fall dramatically.
This was getting ridiculous.
Arisugawa Yuu watched, stunned.
Seeing this, Miyamizu Rin only grew angrier. Others might fall for it, but *she* wouldn’t.
Her expression turned frosty—and this time, she *did* pull.
“If a *wooden doll* makes you betray me like this, what if someone gives you delicious food or fun toys? Will you sneak out my *underwear* and hand it over to someone else?”
By the end, she shot a glance at Arisugawa Yuu—her meaning crystal clear.
“Senpai, even if you just name me directly, I won’t mind.”
Arisugawa Yuu looked innocent.
Her reply was cold, cutting: “Shut up. You don’t get to speak here.”
So scary!
Wise enough to stay quiet, Arisugawa Yuu watched as Koyuki took her scolding.
That said, the scene was *very* pleasing to the eye.
Miyamizu Rin’s beauty needed no explanation.
She was the very embodiment of nature’s finest—blessed by the stars and moon.
Koyuki wasn’t bad either. Though still just a silly, adorable white fox, her delicate features promised future beauty. Her petite frame already hinted at a stunning figure to come. And those snowy fox ears and fluffy tail? Major assets. Arisugawa Yuu was certain fans of white-furred beast girls were *not* few in number.
After Koyuki’s scolding, the trio began their meal.
Midway through, Miyamizu Rin set down her chopsticks. With her lake-clear eyes, she looked at Arisugawa Yuu and softly said: “The day after tomorrow, I’ll send you over. Before that, you have one day to go out and spend time with your sister.”
“So soon? I thought it was supposed to be a few days from now?”
Arisugawa Yuu paused mid-chew, speaking around a mouthful of chicken.
Not sure if it was because she kept a fox, but Miyamizu Rin’s chicken was *incredibly* delicious.
Miyamizu Rin sighed lightly: “Unexpected circumstances. We have to move up the schedule.”
“Alright.” Arisugawa Yuu nodded, then asked, “Is it dangerous?”
Hearing this, Miyamizu Rin’s face lit up with unwavering confidence: “Don’t worry. As long as you train hard and don’t cause me trouble, there’s nothing that can truly give me a headache.”
Even though he’d been dismissed, Arisugawa Yuu couldn’t think of a more reassuring answer.
If possible, he wished she’d say this every time.
