Doroshi’s mouth hung slightly open.
When she saw those tentacles slithering out from under Ren’s skirt, her worldview nearly shattered.
Her instincts as a living being didn’t sense hostility from the maid, but Doroshi did panic for a moment.
The dangling tentacles writhed slowly, like living creatures with a will of their own.
“Tch-these aren’t cosplay props or something, right?”
Pointing at the tentacles, Doroshi stammered words she didn’t even believe herself, her breathing quickening with nerves.
“Nope.”
Ren made no effort to hide them, instead proudly displaying the tentacles for Doroshi to see.
One tentacle stretched out of the dining room.
Doroshi could clearly see its glossy surface flexing as it moved.
She watched, speechless, as it returned, curling around a white ceramic container from outside.
So much for comforting herself with the idea of cosplay props.
Fine, as of today, it’s an indisputable fact in this world that a tentacle-wielding demon god is a red-haired beauty.
No arguments accepted.
The tentacles took on the role of skilled assistants, extending to the table and methodically clearing the dishes, placing them neatly into the container.
Their movements were swift and precise, as if a team of highly trained maids were tidying the table.
This was professionalism!
Having so many tentacles clearly meant you could do whatever you wanted.
Doroshi dubbed them the ultimate high-school-level tentacles.
Her first thought was pure envy—if she had those tentacles, chores would be a breeze.
Her carefree, thick-skinned nature made her oddly accepting of this setup.
Honestly, it was kind of cool.
The one controlling these tentacles was, of course, Ren.
Doroshi couldn’t help but wonder—how exactly were these tentacles connected to the girl under that mysterious skirt?
Only when the tentacles finished cleaning the dining room did Doroshi look back at Ren.
She suddenly noticed that Ren seemed to let out a sigh of relief, as if she’d been worried about Doroshi’s reaction to the tentacles.
It seemed the maid cared quite a bit about what Doroshi thought of them.
When she first saw the tentacles, Doroshi had been scared, but now she was jealous of their convenience—they’d be perfect for helping with homework.
‘Good thing I’m pretty laid-back and adaptable,’ she thought, a little proud of herself.
Ren flashed an elegant smile, letting go of her skirt.
The tentacles retracted quickly, disappearing from sight, leaving Doroshi slightly disappointed—she’d kind of wanted to touch one.
For a fleeting moment, Doroshi thought she saw Ren’s eyes turn a deep, inky black.
“This is something I only wanted to show you, Lady Doroshi—my true self.”
“As I said, I am the demon god Ren.”
“Demon god… what’s that? Is it related to monsters?” Doroshi asked.
“Monsters?”
Ren frowned slightly, the memory of the monster she’d dispatched earlier flashing through her mind.
“You mean the monsters from the Leitinghake Plains?”
Decades ago, in a winter far from Obscure Moon, separated by several countries, a great catastrophe struck the Leitinghake Plains.
After the disaster, the plains’ original inhabitants vanished, replaced by a mysterious species.
They came in all shapes and sizes, wielding inexplicable supernatural powers.
Nations worldwide formed the “World Alliance” to study them.
These creatures possessed strength and abilities far beyond humans, with bizarre powers.
Like monsters from fantasy stories, they attacked humans, earning the name “monsters.”
Modern weapons barely harmed them.
Even bombing the plains only scarred the landscape, leaving the monsters unscathed.
Fortunately, for some unknown reason, they never left the plains’ boundaries.
The area was declared a human-free zone, and the World Alliance’s research on monsters continues to this day.
That’s the extent of what’s known about monsters.
Since they don’t leave the plains to attack, people gradually forgot about them.
Doroshi was no exception.
If she hadn’t seen Ren’s tentacles today, she might never have thought about monsters again.
But Ren shook her head in denial.
“I’m not some lowly creature like a monster.”
“A demon god, also known as a Star-Eroding God, is a vast species capable of traversing different worlds.”
“Beyond the universe you live in, Lady Doroshi, there are countless others, all encompassed within the Sea of Stars.”
“Demon gods are a race that can open pathways across the Sea of Stars, reaching other worlds, capable of eroding and destroying universes.”
“And I stand at the pinnacle of the Sea of Stars—an undying eroder, the crimson beast, the eternal darkness of the deep sea.”
“The Calamity God of the End—Sophiatola. That’s my true identity, the ultimate weapon of the demon gods.”
‘Whoa, whoa, what’s going on? That string of ominous titles doesn’t have a single reassuring element!’
Doroshi wiped her cold sweat, quipping, “Demon god… Calamity God… that’s straight-up final boss material! And the scale of it is just insane…”
“Destroying universes is way too far removed from my life. Can we talk about something more… normal?”
“Compared to monsters that can’t even leave their plains, you demon gods are on a whole other level.”
“And what’s with this ‘ultimate weapon’ stuff? Doesn’t that mean the world’s about to end?”
Ren blinked, seemingly caught off guard by Doroshi’s wild train of thought.
Looking a bit troubled, she waved her hands as if to clear the air.
“That won’t happen! I’m Lady Doroshi’s maid now!”
“I wouldn’t do something like destroy the world.”
“Demon gods, humans—none of that matters to me.”
Her purple eyes gleamed, as if shining only for Doroshi.
Ren clasped her hands to her chest, gazing at Doroshi like a devout nun.
“To me, Lady Doroshi is the only important existence.”
‘Great, the maid’s got it bad.’
At this rate, Doroshi felt like she’d be the one in trouble before the world was.
‘What is this? Why, on this ordinary morning, is a universe-destroying demon god disguised as a girl insisting on being my maid?’
“Why, though?” Doroshi said with a wry smile.
“I’ve been wanting to ask since the start—why do you call me ‘Lady Doroshi’? Why do you want to be my maid?”
“What exactly do you think of me?”
Doroshi unleashed a triple-barreled soul-searching question.
Before Ren could respond, Doroshi realized her tone might’ve been too harsh.
She lowered her head, biting her lip, intending to apologize to ease the tension.
“Sorry, I’m just a bit anxious…”
Suddenly, a slender finger pressed against her lips.
Looking up, Doroshi met Ren’s smile.
“There’s no need for you to apologize, Lady Doroshi.”
“If anyone’s at fault, it’s me for showing up out of nowhere and causing you trouble.”
“The reason I seek you out? Because you saved me, Lady Doroshi.”
“Do you remember? Three days ago, we met. You were the one who pulled me from the flames.”
Doroshi’s body jolted, and she stood up from her chair uncontrollably.
“You’re that girl from that day?!”
