Chapter 37: Should we say it’s no wonder we’re sisters?

From appearance alone, the girl in front of me looked strikingly similar to Sister Yuan.
Even her cold, icy gaze was indistinguishable.

I didn’t suspect anything and invited her into the house.

After asking whether Sister Yuan was home, Yun Rou sat in a chair, staring at her phone and no longer speaking to me.

I awkwardly glanced at her, just about to speak, but didn’t know what to say.

“Um… would you like something to drink? Milk or fruit tea?” I thought for a moment and decided to at least offer some hospitality.

“Plain water, thank you. When will Sister be back?” The girl’s voice was just as cool and detached as Sister Yuan’s.
Her impression of me didn’t seem very favorable.

“By evening, I think. That’s what Sister Yuan said herself,” I replied seriously.

Although her tone wasn’t particularly friendly, she was polite, and since she was Sister Yuan’s sister, I couldn’t be negligent.

“Here, Miss Yun Rou, your cold water.”

“Thank you.”

“No need to thank me. Have you had lunch? Sister Yuan prepared some food and put it in the fridge. Do you want to eat some?”

“Not yet. Sister’s food… alright, I haven’t eaten it in a long time.”

I took the food out of the fridge, heated it in the microwave, and placed it on the table.

While eating, Yun Rou’s movements mirrored Sister Yuan’s elegance as a wealthy young lady—slow, deliberate, and chewing carefully.

She ate quietly, not saying a word, a complete contrast to the usually noisy Sister Yuan.

After finishing, I cleaned the dishes and came out of the kitchen, seeing Yun Rou still looking down at her phone.

Since she didn’t seem inclined to talk to me, I decided to wait for Sister Yuan to return.

I went back to my room alone and took a nap.

By the time I woke up, it was already evening. Upon opening my eyes, I saw Sister Yuan lying beside me, looking at me contentedly.

“Sister Yuan, you’re back! There was a guest at home—she said she’s your sister.”

“Mm, I know. Get up and finish your meal. I’ll introduce you to each other,” Sister Yuan said.

She pulled me out of bed, holding my hand, and led me to the dining table.

“Let me introduce. Xiao You, this is Xiao Rou, my younger sister by three or four years. She should be in her last year of high school now.”

After introducing her to me, Sister Yuan pointed at me and said to Yun Rou:
“Xiao Rou, this is—”

“I know. Lu You, the child you and Mom adopted from the orphanage back then, now your little brother. Is he the reason you’ve refused to return home all these years, Sister?”

“This is only one reason. And Xiao You isn’t just my little brother, he’s also my fia~ncé.”

??? What the heck? Sister Yuan and I aren’t even a couple yet! How did it jump straight to fiancé?!

Hearing this, Yun Rou excitedly stood up, her face flushed, pointing at me in disbelief:

“Fi…fi…fiancé? He…he is…Sister…you guys…”

Sister Yuan looked at the flustered Yun Rou and chuckled.

“Just kidding, don’t get so worked up, Xiao Rou. Although Xiao You hasn’t agreed yet, he will eventually become my fiancé.”

I buried my face in my bowl, shoveling rice as fast as I could, trying not to look at either of them.

No matter what Sister Yuan said, I couldn’t stop her anyway.

Yun Rou, however, was far from calm. She looked at me in surprise, then back at Sister Yuan, wanting to say something but didn’t.

“So, Xiao Rou, what brings you here? Bringing luggage—are you planning to stay long with Sister?”

“I’ve transferred to Qiuhua High, so I’ll be staying with Sister for this year. And a few days from now is your birthday, Sister, so I can help celebrate,” Yun Rou said slowly, taking a sip of tea.

“But there aren’t any empty rooms… should I rent you another place outside?”

“Isn’t there—” I started, but Sister Yuan glared at me, and I obediently closed my mouth.

“No matter. I can share a room with Sister. I don’t mind sleeping on the same bed,” Yun Rou said.

“But I… never mind, Xiao Rou, if you want to stay, you can. My room is over there. Go put your luggage down. Do you want me to help?” Sister Yuan gestured to her room.

“No need, I can do it myself,” Yun Rou replied, dragging her sky-blue suitcase into Sister Yuan’s room.

“Sister Yuan, you never mentioned having a sister. Are you two not that close?”

“No, on the contrary, Xiao Rou is way too attached to me. Since childhood, she’s always followed me around. After I moved out, she ran away countless times to find me, but Mom always brought her back.”

“Sigh… if only Xiao You liked following me like Xiao Rou does, and listened to me.”

Huh? Did I hear that right?

The seemingly aloof Yun Rou actually likes to cling to Sister Yuan like a little girl?

“Sister Yuan, does Yun Rou still cling to you like before?”

“That’s exactly my problem. I thought Xiao Rou, being so grown up and separated from me for so long, wouldn’t cling to me anymore. But when I last went home… never mind, I won’t ruin the image of Xiao Rou in your eyes, Xiao You.”

Yun Rou must be a sis-con! Definitely!

“Sister Yuan, don’t you like it when Yun Rou clings to you?”

“No, in the end, Xiao Rou will grow up and live independently. I only like Xiao You clinging to me. I only want to be with Xiao You forever, but you always ruin my plans and disobey.”

“Sister Yuan, think about what you’re doing! If I obeyed, who knows what you’d do.”

Sister Yuan smirked, crossed her legs, propping her face with her hand, and said casually:

“I’m not some wild beast, I won’t do anything… at most, I’ll just pin Xiao You down and drain him completely.”

?! WTF?

My face immediately turned red, hands flailing helplessly, not knowing where to start complaining.

“What are you casually saying! Drain… I…drain him…”

“Don’t be shy, Xiao You. You’ll experience it sooner or later. But as long as you behave, before you confess to me, I won’t force you. Even if I do, I’ll be gentle and won’t hurt you.”

“And what if I like another girl?”

“I advise you not to do that. If it happens, I won’t be gentle anymore.”

“Alright, go take a shower. After you finish, call Xiao Rou to wash up.”

Sister Yuan said, cleaned the dishes, and started washing them in the sink.

I calmed my frayed nerves and went to my room to find a change of clothes.

When I finished showering, Sister Yuan was no longer in the kitchen.

I went to her room and turned the handle to open the door.

To my surprise, Yun Rou was lying on the bed, hugging Sister Yuan’s clothes, inhaling the scent with a dazed expression.

“Sister’s smell… Sister~ hehe~ so fragrant~ so good~”

I must have opened the door at the wrong time.

I quickly closed the door, took a deep breath, and knocked.

“Miss Yun Rou, may I come in?”

“Ca…wait… okay… come in.”

I opened the door again. Yun Rou sat on the bed, clothes a bit messy, cheeks flushed.

“You can go take a shower. The bathroom is next to the kitchen, you know?”

“Oh, okay, got it.”

After receiving her response, I quickly left, closed the door, and went back to my room.

When I opened my door, I saw Sister Yuan on the bed, hugging my clothes.

Same posture, same expression, same action.
The difference was…

Sister Yuan noticed me and, before I could leave, pulled me back onto the bed.
