Chapter 49: Yes… I Did It All

Alicia glanced at the viscous substance on the ground again, a circle of blood-red flames ignited at her feet, precisely burning the blood on the floor, and she lay back down in a clean spot.
“Inside! Come out!” The shouts of guards came from outside.

Bang— They kicked the door open, only to see Alicia lying on the ground, covered in blood, unconscious.
Adelle, dressed in a black vest, indifferently looked at the two people lying on the ground, merely glancing to ascertain the general situation.

She put down her briefcase, and without a word, turned and left, rushing to Dounia, who was wrapped in a black cloak, and gently picked her up from the seat.
She didn’t trust anyone else to look after Dounia.

Time flew by, a day and a half later, they had already returned to the Anomaly Bureau aboard the repaired train.
In a private hospital room, Alicia slowly opened her eyes.

A white ceiling, the smell of disinfectant lingering in the air; she was in a hospital.
As Alicia was about to sit up, she found her hands firmly bound by intricate iron chains, and the small nurse sitting beside her nearly jumped in surprise.
“Patient 18 is awake! Get someone here, quick!”

Thump, thump, thump.

Adelle poked her head out from another room, then walked in, her black boots tapping.
She pulled over a wooden stool and sat down, casually removing her leather gloves, which still had fresh bloodstains, as if she had just come from an interrogation.
“I ask, you answer.”

Adelle immediately put pressure on her, but Alicia’s eyes held only dimness and indifference, as if completely numb.
“Your name.”
“Alicia.”
“No surname?” Adelle took out a notebook and jotted down a few notes.
“I’m an orphan, I don’t know.” Alicia replied indifferently, meeting Adelle’s gaze without fear.
“Your Path, Sequence.”
Alicia blinked.
“I hope you’ll cooperate with our interrogation, it will make things simpler.” Adelle said.
“I don’t know what my Path is, but I can show you.” As Alicia raised her hand, a flash of bloody light appeared, and the refined iron shackles on her left wrist immediately began to turn red, emitting white smoke.
Clatter, the gradually melting refined iron shackles dropped directly to the ground.
“I hope this serves as proof of my sincerity.” Alicia elegantly curved her lips, showing a benevolent smile.
Adelle frowned deeply.

If Ms. Violet hadn’t mentioned beforehand that this was a friend she knew well, she might have truly made the other party pay a price for such arrogant behavior.
Even Dounia wasn’t this arrogant when she first met her, not to mention Dounia was genuinely cute…

‘Tsk, that little thing is really starting to grow on me, especially when her eyes are red and she’s panicking…’
Adelle silently repented for the impurity in her heart.
“Why were you in the train control room?” Adelle continued to ask.
“Because I sensed a killing intent; someone in a cloak sneaked into the train control room, and I felt she wanted to cause some damage, so I took the opportunity to follow her.” Alicia said.
“Have you seen a silver-haired girl?” Adelle asked alertly.

She understood that Alicia would not easily provide her with truthful information, and as a surveillance officer of the Anomaly Bureau, she had already obtained more information from the train passengers, the dead guards, and the guards who arrived later, from multiple perspectives.
The other party’s information was likely more limited than her own, which would help her discern the situation.
Alicia raised an eyebrow.
“Yes.”
“What, is she someone from your Anomaly Bureau?” As she spoke, Alicia rubbed her fingers expectantly, as if there were still crystal-clear liquid on them, the strange stickiness making her heart rate subtly quicken.
‘That person, in order to save me, actually used my own hand to make me feel that warm, moist touch… hehehe.’
“No.”
“Oh…?” Seeing Adelle’s denial, Alicia instead confirmed another piece of information.
‘That person, possibly “Dorothea,” is in the Anomaly Bureau!’
‘This is getting interesting…’
‘Whether killing her or loving her fiercely until her eyes are vacant like a doll, both are excellent and wonderful choices.’

Before her eyes, it was as if she saw the contemptuous smile of the silver-haired girl, reaching out with tentacles, just before she met her death in her previous life.
No matter how much she paid, how much pain she endured, in the end, she was easily filled amidst the silver-haired girl’s mockery, and no matter how much she begged for mercy, it never stopped, finally plunging hopelessly into an endless abyss of pleasure.
The most fatal thing was that, before the end of her life, she learned from the silver-haired girl’s mouth—from the very beginning, it was Dorothea who had led her step by step into degradation and created the tragedy!
For this, she had to make the other party pay a blood price!
“Please answer my question, Alicia.” Adelle said.
“What did you see her do?”
“As soon as I entered, I was ambushed by an assassin with bandaged hands, and the silver-haired girl you mentioned suddenly appeared behind the assassin and stabbed her several times.” Alicia said.
Adelle gazed at her for a moment, then rose silently.
“That’s all for today, please rest well.” Adelle said coldly.
“Also, please don’t damage the shackles again.

You are one of the suspects in the train attack, and Ms. Violet went to great lengths to vouch for you.”
Hearing Violet’s name, Alicia’s blood-red eyes suddenly cleared a little, and her entire body went limp, quietly lying back down.

“Violet… is it? What a nostalgic name.” She smiled gently, somewhat reminiscing.
But as soon as she closed her eyes, what appeared was not Violet’s smile in the sunlight, but the hazy, delicate features of the silver-haired girl under the chaotic mist, her desperate and pitiful whimpers, the crystal tears constantly overflowing from her eyes.

‘If she was “Dorothea,” then she clearly “killed me” with her own hands, completed the mission, fulfilled her wish, so why would she suddenly cry?’

‘She held my hands, trembling all over, begging me not to die, looking utterly pitiful, so much so that even I felt pity, let alone her pained expression later when she used that seal, which clearly belonged to the Pleasure sequence, to heal my wounds, as if she was being coerced by someone, forced to give herself pleasure to “save” me.’
‘She doesn’t look like the “Dorothea” who scornfully mocked me… No one has ever shed such genuine tears for me, nor trembled in fear of my death.’

She was unaccustomed to this feeling, but if she had to say, this feeling…
‘It’s wonderful.’

In her room, Dounia threw off the covers and sat up.
Ever since she woke up, Adelle had made her stay in the room obediently, and locked the door again.
Adelle had been busy with something, and Dounia hadn’t seen her for a long time, which made Dounia increasingly uneasy.
‘Could it be that her assassination of Alicia was exposed?’
‘That wasn’t impossible, after all, the situation at the time was too complex.’
‘And Alicia might also identify her after waking up; even if the other party couldn’t necessarily recognize her after her face was blurred by ‘Mirror Transfer’, the blood on the inside of Adelle’s suit jacket would be difficult to explain.’
As for things like hair color, she wasn’t too worried; although her silver hair was beautiful, there were many people with silver hair in this world.

Whoosh— The door suddenly opened.

Adelle, wearing a black vest and tie, walked in, her face grave.
“Did you kill a red-haired woman, one from the Path of Slaughter?”
Dounia’s pupils trembled.
‘Alicia is dead?!’
‘Didn’t I save her before I left?!’
‘What new development happened?’
‘Does Violet also know that I killed Alicia?’
‘It’s over! Everything’s over!’

A misty haze formed in Dounia’s eyes, and she lowered her head, trembling slightly.
“Yes… I did it all, I was wrong.” She raised her small hand, wiping away crystal tears.
