Chapter 64: What to do if your girlfriend gets angry

Su Cheng maintained her usual aloof demeanor, her hand still stubbornly out of reach.

At that moment, some onlookers began to envy the rabbit cradled in her arms.

It was fortunate enough to be held by Su Cheng.

“Oh, what is all this nonsense? This is ridiculous.”

Yin Xuelian murmured under her breath, her brow furrowed in consternation as she scrolled through the myriad of unhelpful responses on her phone screen.

If Su Cheng were to see what she was researching, she would surely be laughed to death.

[What should I do when my girlfriend is angry?]

‘Serve her a cold dish, scramble some eggs, or perhaps garnish them with spring onions for a prettier look.’

Yin Xuelian secretly glanced at Su Cheng, who was walking ahead, her slender back still radiating an aura of ‘do not approach strangers’.

In her previous life, it was always Su Cheng who had to cajole her, but now, their roles had been completely reversed.

Having never had to placate a girlfriend before, Yin Xuelian found even consulting Baidu (TL Note: Colloquial term for the Chinese search engine Baidu, often personified as ‘Lady Du’ or ‘Auntie Du’.) to be fruitless.

It seemed the key to resolving this situation could only be found by considering their actual circumstances.

A sudden thought struck her, and Yin Xuelian hastened her pace to catch up with Su Cheng.

“Little Orange, are you thirsty? Would you like some water?”

Yin Xuelian leaned closer, her voice eight octaves softer than usual.

“Yes, but I just want water; no more sodas.”

Yin Xuelian’s eyes lit up, much like a puppy receiving a treat. “Then wait for me, don’t wander off, okay?”

“I won’t wander off.” Su Cheng replied with a faint smile.

Just then, Lin Shiyue approached them, her face etched with apology. “Chengcheng, my roommate and I made plans to see a movie, so I can’t accompany you any further.”

Su Cheng gave a slight nod, her clear eyes reflecting Lin Shiyue’s apologetic smile.

“It’s fine; you should go quickly so you don’t miss it.”

“If there’s another opportunity, let’s watch a movie together next time.” Lin Shiyue gazed at Su Cheng, her eyes filled with anticipation.

“We’ll see.” Su Cheng did not give a definite answer, and this response was unexpected by Lin Shiyue.

“Then I’ll be going.”

“Alright.”

Lin Shiyue departed, a look of bewilderment on her face, surprised by Su Cheng’s reply and her evident coolness.

Watching Lin Shiyue walk away, Su Cheng patted her chest and let out a huge sigh of relief, leaning against the railing with a hint of exhaustion.

All she wanted now was to return to school, to her dormitory, and to lie down on her small bed.

The outside world still felt far too dangerous.

“Little Orange, here’s your water.” Yin Xuelian pressed the water bottle against Su Cheng’s delicate cheek, making Su Cheng shiver in surprise.

“Why isn’t it cold?”

Yin Xuelian lightly pinched Su Cheng’s soft, tender cheek. “You just ate spicy food and now you want something cold? Aren’t you tired of getting stomach aches?”

“No, no, I know I was wrong.”

Su Cheng remembered the experience of her stomach ache that day, and the memory of being kissed into unconsciousness back in the dormitory.

The cap was already twisted open, and Su Cheng immediately took two gulps of water, cooling her mouth.

Yin Xuelian stayed by Su Cheng’s side, watching her.

“Sister Lian, would you like some?”

“Yes, of course.”

Yin Xuelian’s eyes curved into crescent moons as she took the water bottle Su Cheng offered, happily drinking from it.

Once the water was finished, Yin Xuelian looked at Su Cheng again; the previously icy expression on her pretty face had melted like solid ice, returning to its normal lively appearance.

“Little Orange, were you really angry just now?”

Su Cheng turned her head, her recently relaxed expression immediately becoming stern again. She said coldly, “Angry? Of course I was angry! And Sister Lian, you too—how could you ambush me like that?”

“You’re always playing tricks on me, treating me like I’m easy to bully, aren’t you?”

Hearing the lingering displeasure in Su Cheng’s tone, Yin Xuelian immediately offered an apologetic smile. “No, no, I truly didn’t consider your feelings. My mistake, my mistake.”

This move was called ‘actively admitting fault,’ a strategy she had found among Baidu’s answers, and it was proving useful right away—a perfect example of putting theory into practice.

Su Cheng had not expected Yin Xuelian to admit her mistake so readily, leaving her momentarily speechless.

In her previous life, it had always been Su Cheng who had to humble herself and apologize; this reversal left her feeling unaccustomed.

Yin Xuelian seemed to be playing the role of her past self.

“Then… then it’s good that you know you were wrong,” Su Cheng stammered, her formidable aura suddenly deflating as she hugged the rabbit plushie tightly.

She hadn’t truly been angry, after all, as anger was bad for one’s skin.

Besides, Su Cheng was only putting on an act to scare them, and it seemed to have been effective.

Seeing Su Cheng’s softened attitude, Yin Xuelian immediately pushed her luck, taking a step closer and subtly hooking her pinky finger with Su Cheng’s.

“So… have you forgiven me?”

Su Cheng looked down at the restless hand, her lips twitching slightly. “You think I’ll forgive you just because you say so?”

“Then what do I need to do for you to forgive me?”

“Hmm, I don’t know. Maybe I just won’t forgive you.”

Su Cheng immediately pulled her hand away after speaking, denying Yin Xuelian the chance to hold on, and turned to leave.

“No, you can’t not forgive me!”

Yin Xuelian firmly grasped Su Cheng’s hand, her eyes cast down, like a child who had done something wrong.

“I’ve already admitted my mistake; won’t you forgive me?”

Her tone was low, tinged with a hint of humility and sadness.

Su Cheng slowly turned around, seeing Yin Xuelian’s lowered head, the sparkle in her eyes gradually dimming, her lips drooping as if she were about to cry.

‘Ugh, there’s truly no helping this idiot.’

“Alright, alright,” Su Cheng stood on her tiptoes slightly, gently stroking Yin Xuelian’s beautiful hair. “I forgive you. Why do you look like you’re about to cry?”

Yin Xuelian’s expression brightened like clouds parting after a storm, and a joyful smile immediately appeared on her face as she pulled Su Cheng into a hug.

“If you hadn’t forgiven me, I would have cried for you to see.”

“No, I don’t want to see that. Crying makes you look bad; hurry and let go of me.”

Upon hearing this, Yin Xuelian immediately released Su Cheng without the slightest hesitation.

Su Cheng was momentarily stunned. It seemed her method was still effective; at least Yin Xuelian was much more obedient than before.

Though Yin Xuelian had released her body, their hands remained firmly clasped.

“Sister Lian, let’s go back. I’m a bit tired.”

“En, alright.”

The two walked towards the mall’s exit, only to halt at the main entrance.

Outside, heavy rain was still pouring down, and it was several hundred meters to the nearest subway station, requiring them to cross a traffic light.

“Strange, where did my umbrella go?”

Yin Xuelian searched herself thoroughly; it wasn’t in her bag, and she almost lifted her skirt to check there too.

“I probably lost it while shopping.”

“How about I go back and look for it? You wait here.”

Su Cheng stopped Yin Xuelian, who was about to turn back, saying, “You probably won’t find it anyway, so let’s forget it. It’s not far to the subway station.”

“But it’s raining so heavily; you’ll catch a cold if you get wet.”

Su Cheng shook her head. “I won’t catch a cold. What’s a little rain? I’m not afraid.”

“Should I go buy a new umbrella?”

“That’s too much trouble. We could save that money for two bubble teas instead. If you don’t walk, I’m going without you.”

Su Cheng released Yin Xuelian’s hand and dashed directly into the rain. Large raindrops pelted her, and in no time, her white dress was soaked through.

“Hurry up! I’m not waiting for you!”

Su Cheng waved to Yin Xuelian, who was still hesitating, then turned and ran off.

“Little Orange, wait for me!”

Seeing this, Yin Xuelian followed, rushing into the rain.

As night had just fallen, the two girls sprinting through the heavy rain became a beautiful, striking sight.
