Morning light was blocked by heavy curtains.

The bedroom still held lingering warmth.

Luoyao clutched a corner of the blanket, covering herself.

She stared at the ceiling, asking out of the blue, “Will Anna and Xiaan be like us?”

She meant, in love.

Noah lay on her side next to Luoyao.

One hand propped her cheek, the other toyed with Luoyao’s hair.

“Don’t know. Vampires live too long. We’ve seen countless joys, sorrows, and love stories. Falling in love suddenly is hard. Unless someone holds special meaning to a vampire.”

Luoyao blinked, rolling to face Noah.

She looked up. “Why… did you fall for me? Am I special to you?”

Noah stroked Luoyao’s cheek, pondering.

After a moment, she didn’t answer directly.

Instead, she asked, “Do you think meeting, knowing, and loving someone is fated or just chance?”

“Hmm… fated, I guess. Like destiny or something.”

Noah smiled faintly.

Her fingertip traced Luoyao’s nose, resting on her soft lips.

“I think so too. Two strangers meeting in this vast world… Their souls and bodies fitting so perfectly… The odds are so slim. That first night I saw you, it was just another hunt.

I never planned to take my prey home to keep. But when you opened the door, I regretted it. In that moment, my mind was a mess.

Like a voice kept urging me: take her, take her. I couldn’t resist your… inexplicable pull. I thought it was just a fleeting thrill. Once the desire faded, I’d lose interest.

But even now, I still really, really like you. Luoyao, if we’re fated to meet and love each other… Why question why? Just follow this river called love, isn’t that enough?”

Hard to imagine Noah saying such heartfelt words.

Luoyao wondered if she’d improvised or rehearsed them secretly, waiting for this moment.

Either way, Luoyao felt Noah’s sincerity in their relationship.

Even if it started impulsively, Noah cherished it.

Sometimes, love was like a lottery.

You never knew if the next ticket held your destined numbers.

Noah was lucky.

She followed her heart, guided by fate, and held Luoyao tight.

Before Luoyao, Noah had never loved.

She didn’t even know what love was.

Even now, “love” wasn’t fully clear to her.

But if loving someone meant wanting to possess them…

To face any hardship together…

To blend your blood and flesh into their life…

Then, no doubt, she loved her.

To Noah, Luoyao was the missing piece of a broken jade pendant.

To Luoyao, Noah was the one chosen by fate, unchangeable by anyone or anything.

Luoyao sniffled, shyly burrowing into Noah’s arms.

“I get it…” she mumbled.

Noah chuckled, patting Luoyao’s head. “Good girl. Oh, wait, I just thought of something.”

Luoyao popped up, excited. “Since your Mother bans loving humans… Why not turn your beloved into a vampire?”

Noah burst out laughing.

Luoyao blinked, startled. “W-what’s so funny?”

“Nothing, nothing. My little Luoyao’s just so naive.”

Tch… then tell me why it won’t work.”

“Because Mother’s not a fool.”

Noah explained, “Others have had the same idea. Some even tried it. But the result? The master and their newly turned vampire s*ave were both thrown into the Well of Burning Sin.

Human laws can be bent that way. Every rule’s written in code, judged by books. But vampire rules… Mother decides alone. Got it, little dummy?”

Luoyao pouted. “What the heck… Vampires run a dictatorship?”

“It’s a bit dictatorial, but it’s how it is.”

Noah pinched Luoyao’s puffed cheeks, patiently explaining more vampire lore.

Bending rules by turning someone was indeed impossible.

Beyond Mother’s “dictatorship,” there were personal reasons for Noah.

Vampires couldn’t drink each other’s blood.

First, it was ethically wrong.

They followed survival of the fittest, but cannibalism was a line they wouldn’t cross.

Second, and most critical, drinking vampire blood caused severe physical distress.

Only a crazed vampire would feed on their own kind.

Noah’s body only accepted Luoyao’s blood.

Others’ caused strong rejection.

If she turned Luoyao, she’d eventually starve.

Even if Huangwei made a blood substitute, Noah couldn’t turn Luoyao yet.

Luoyao had said she wanted to live as a human.

Noah respected her wishes.

She understood—going from human to vampire wasn’t something most could accept unless forced.

So, unless a life-threatening crisis arose, Noah wouldn’t turn her against her will.

Also… who knew if a turned Luoyao would flip from soft to dominant?

A twenty-something vampire overpowering Noah?

That’d be mortifyingly embarrassing!

No way.

Better safe than sorry.

Noah decided to tease her weak human a bit more while she could.

But as the silver-haired flirt made her move, the clever dummy saw it coming.

“Hey, hold up! That’s enough for today. I’m tired.”

“Ugh, fine.”

“But I’ve got a little wish.”

“What wish? If I can, I’ll do it.”

“Um… I want to… ahem… draw something on you.”
