“Let’s review last lesson’s content. Briefly explain the role of the ‘Broken Moon Platform’ in the vampire castle. Luoyao, you answer.”

Huangwei was increasingly like a high school teacher.

Not only reviewing material, but now calling on students.

Soon, she’d probably assign homework.

Those who failed might have their parents—or masters—summoned.

Luoyao stood nervously, head down, scratching her forehead.

She had no clue what the Broken Moon Platform was.

Vaguely, she recalled Huangwei mentioning it last class.

But it came right after the Well of Burning Sin.

Luoyao’s mind was on Noah then, missing everything about the platform.

She stammered, unable to answer.

Huangwei didn’t scold her, just waved her to sit. “Xiaan, you try.”

Xiaan stood, speaking calmly, “The Broken Moon Platform is a vampire competition for claiming prized blood slaves, like a human arena. If two vampires want the same s*ave and both intend to fight for them…

They settle it by dueling on the Broken Moon Platform. No weapons allowed, no private brawls afterward. Violators face a thirty-day feeding ban. Using violence to decide a s*ave’s fate is primitive and brutal.

But it’s effective and fits the vampire law of survival of the fittest. So the platform remains popular among most vampires.”

Huangwei nodded, pleased. “Well done, sit. After class, tutor your cute desk mate. If she wants to stay with vampires long-term, knowing their history and rules is crucial. Am I right?”

Luoyao bit her lip, smiling awkwardly, and nodded.

She accepted Huangwei’s subtle critique.

The blonde teacher was right.

If Luoyao wanted to stay with Noah, living as a human among vampires, she had to learn their ways.

As the saying goes, when in Rome, do as the Romans do.

Like a bride adapting to her husband’s hometown, no matter how unfamiliar.

Luoyao didn’t see it as a sacrifice.

She knew her love with Noah was forbidden, unrecognized.

If Suyue’s Blood Cross squad caught them, a fate worse than the Well of Burning Sin awaited.

Early on, Luoyao’s softness and shallow feelings for Noah led her to retreat.

Now, one thing was clear: she loved Noah.

She couldn’t leave her.

No obstacle or danger scared her if it meant being with Noah.

Softness was most girls’ nature.

But growing stronger for love was Luoyao’s choice.

She left her comfort zone, diving headfirst into love’s turbulent waters for Noah.

Noah protected her in the vampire way.

Luoyao would support Noah with human tenderness.

The brave human miss propped her chin on her hands, elbows on the desk.

She thought of her silver-haired goof while listening to Huangwei.

Mastering multitasking like a pro.

Back in college, Luoyao honed this skill.

She’d listen to lectures while sketching her next drawing.

Her mind worked faster than most, more active.

But usually, Luoyao was lazy.

Too lazy to handle more than one thing at a time.

Typical slacker girl vibes!

The class passed quickly.

This time, Huangwei didn’t keep Luoyao after.

But passing the podium, those soul-snatching fox eyes stared, making her uneasy.

Come on, Teacher Huangwei, I’m your best friend’s girl!

Keep staring all flirty like that, and you’ll lose her friendship!

“What’re you thinking? I admit you’re pretty and cute. But I’m staring because I’m imagining what Noah does with you. Plus, I look at everyone like this, right, Xiaan?”

Huangwei, adept at mind-reading, shifted her sultry gaze to Xiaan.

Xiaan shivered, scampering out of the classroom.

Luoyao sighed, facepalming. “Tone down that seductive vibe and stare, Teacher.”

“Watch your mouth, or you’re staying after class.”

“Nope! I’m out, bye, Teacher!”

Luoyao bolted from the classroom.

Huangwei watched the two girls’ backs, shaking her head with a smile.

She stood, gathering her books.

As she prepared to leave, a crow landed outside the window.

Huangwei froze, staring at it.

After a moment, she snapped back. “Mother… you’re coming back soon?”

***

“Xiaan, I’m here to pick you up!”

The two had barely left the classroom when a petite figure dashed from the fourth-floor stairs.

It was Anna.

“I’m not late, am I? Did you just finish class?”

Anna jogged up, asking.

Xiaan shook her head. “You’re not late, Lady Anna. But you don’t need to pick me up next time.”

“I’m bored at home. Plus, didn’t we plan to visit my workplace tonight? So I came to get you.”

Anna’s tone was casual, like picking Xiaan up was no big deal.

Their conversation sounded so natural, you’d think it was routine.

But this was Anna’s first time fetching her new friend.

Xiaan was both surprised and delighted.

Back with Xiyue, she never got this treatment.

After class, exhausted, she’d drag herself home.

Not only could she not rest, but Xiyue would torment her.

Only in utter weakness could she pass out.

Anna, like Noah with Luoyao, treated Xiaan with absolute respect.

Even… indulgence.

Compared to that, Xiaan had no regrets.

Live and let live, girl.

All hardships pave the way for a brighter future.

“Okay, whatever you say, Lady Anna.”

“Just call me Anna. ‘Lady’ feels so weird.”

“Mhm.”

Anna smiled, glancing at Luoyao. “Little Luoyao, rushing home? If not, come with us.”

“Me? Won’t I… bother you?”

“Nah, join us.”

Luoyao’s eyes flickered, like she’d thought of something.

She nodded. “Alright, thanks, Anna.”

“No problem, let’s go.”

Anna led the two girls to the castle’s underground blood bank.

The castle’s design was intricate and unique, but places to explore were few.

The blood bank was a decent choice.

Sure, as Luoyao said, taking a human to a human blood storage felt like showing a chicken KFC’s factory.

Weird.

But Xiaan didn’t overthink it, so Luoyao let it slide.

At the blood bank, Anna pulled out an antique bronze key, unlocking the door.

They stepped inside, the temperature dropping sharply.

Vaporized dry ice floated across the floor.

Shelves were neatly arranged, divided into A, B, and O sections for the main human blood types.

Type A had the most shelves, suggesting vampires preferred it.

“Wow, it’s huge,” Xiaan marveled.

“Yeah, it wasn’t always this big. Once, a flu swept through the hunting grounds. Vampires avoided hunting, relying on the blood bank. But stocks were low, and many sisters went hungry.”

Anna explained, “After the flu, Huangwei expanded the bank.”

“I see. Hey, these tubes have names on them.”

Luoyao stood by a shelf, picking up a labeled test tube.

“Yup, picky vampires store their favorite slaves’ blood.”

Luoyao studied the tube, lost in thought.

After a moment, she looked at Anna. “Can I store some of my blood here?”
