Join the ServerAfter truly getting to know Lin You, Zhao Xixia found that she could no longer continue to dislike him.
He was a quiet boy, a bit soft and timid, yet positive and easy to please.
At first, Xixia had disliked Lin You for getting in the way of her becoming friends with Yuxiu.
Now, the tables were about to turn.
She was starting to envy Yuxiu for having such a unique “boy-friend” like Lin You.
In art class.
Zhao Xixia was observing the boy in a roundabout way.
She saw Lin You completely absorbed in drawing his grandmother in his art pad.
His seat had originally belonged to Yuxiu, on the left side.
Therefore, from Zhao Xixia’s perspective, she could only see the right side of the boy’s face.
It was a delicate and flawless side, with no sign of the red birthmark. His nose, his eyes—everything about it was handsome.
At six years old, Zhao Xixia realized for the first time just how “superficial” she was.
She shouldn’t have been so quick to judge and categorize the boy as a “red-faced freak.”
‘He probably has no idea…’
Thinking of the hurtful words she had said, the arrogant Zhao Xixia felt a pang of regret for the first time.
After spending just one class together, her opinion had done a complete 180.
Zhao Xixia knew how to hide her feelings. She thought she had hidden everything perfectly and that the boy would never know.
In reality, Lin You had noticed the subtle change in the light belonging to Zhao Xixia.
From the gray at the beginning, it had gradually dyed into a vibrant green.
This also meant a change from dislike to friendliness.
The obvious change left Lin You a bit confused, but when he was with Zhao Xixia, he no longer had to be so on edge.
Ring ring ring.
The bell for the end of school rang!
After the teacher dismissed the class, the classroom erupted into noise.
Lin You wasn’t in a hurry to leave. He organized the art supplies Yuxiu had lent him, preparing to return them to her later.
Beside him, Zhao Xixia was also carelessly fiddling with her school supplies.
This arrogant and difficult little girl was, seemingly unintentionally, observing the boy’s every move.
Her initial disgust had clearly turned into an interest in him as a person.
Held back by her tsundere personality, Xixia couldn’t express her desire to be friends with the boy as openly as Yuxiu could.
“Youyou!”
Yuxiu quickly packed her things, shouldered her small backpack, and rushed over to Lin You’s desk.
She called the boy by his nickname, then shot a wary glance at Zhao Xixia.
For the entire last period, she hadn’t been able to focus on the lecture, her attention constantly on Lin You and Zhao Xixia.
She was afraid that this bad girl, Zhao Xixia, would bully Lin You, and had been on pins and needles.
“Yuxiu, thank you for the art supplies!”
Lin You immediately returned what he owed.
When talking to this one of his few friends, the boy’s tone was light, unlike the polite yet distant way he spoke to Zhao Xixia.
“You’re welcome. Let’s walk home together!”
To be honest, many of the things that had happened that morning had been quite unpleasant for Yuxiu, but in front of the boy, all those troubles were pushed to the back of her mind.
“Hmph, Zhong Yuxiu, you’re a girl walking home with a boy. Aren’t you afraid of being laughed at?”
Before Lin You could even respond, Zhao Xixia couldn’t help but jump in and meddle.
It seemed like she was mocking Yuxiu, but in reality, Zhao Xixia was jealous of her walking with Lin You.
“What’s it to you? Stop meddling in my and Youyou’s business.”
Yuxiu’s mood was like finding a disgusting fly on a cake she was about to eat. She wished she could tape Zhao Xixia’s mouth shut.
“Yuxiu, you should go ahead. I’ll wait a bit longer.”
After some consideration, Lin You still tactfully declined the girl’s proposal.
Even if Zhao Xixia hadn’t interjected, he most likely would not have agreed.
He had to think about his friend and couldn’t just think of himself.
He absolutely could not let Yuxiu endure too many strange looks from others.
“Hey, alright then.”
Yuxiu nodded in disappointment and had to slowly walk out of the classroom alone.
Suddenly, Yuxiu hurried back.
“Hey, Zhao Xixia, why haven’t you gone home yet?”
It turned out that Yuxiu had noticed Zhao Xixia was still lingering in the classroom. If she left her alone, she might bully the boy.
“I’ll leave when I want to leave. Does your family own this school? Why are you trying to control me?”
Zhao Xixia pretended to flip through a textbook on her desk, retorting with a dismissive attitude.
“You…”
Yuxiu was speechless for a moment. She could only cast an urging gaze at Lin You, hoping he would leave the classroom quickly.
“Okay.”
He had originally planned to stay a little longer and finish his homework before going home, but Lin You didn’t want Yuxiu to worry, so he decided to leave the classroom first.
“Tsk.”
Under Zhao Xixia’s watchful gaze, Yuxiu and Lin You left the classroom one after the other, leaving her all alone.
“Country bumpkins, unworthy of being my friends.”
Zhao Xixia took out the tissues from her desk drawer. Her pale little hand tore the tissues into shreds as she muttered to herself in frustration.
On campus.
At Lin You’s strong insistence, Yuxiu had no choice but to leave first.
‘Aren’t Youyou and I friends? Shouldn’t we be walking side by side?’
Yuxiu was not satisfied with their current mode of interaction and grumbled to herself.
She couldn’t help but turn back to look at Lin You, who was seven or eight meters behind her.
‘Hurry home.’
Lin You said nothing, but when their eyes met, his clear and pure gaze seemed to speak, conveying his meaning.
‘Did I perform poorly when I was arguing with Zhao Xixia? Does Youyou think I’m unreliable?’
Zhong Yuxiu’s thoughts were running wild on her way home from school.
She quickened her pace, wanting to see her mother and get an answer from her.
As for Lin You, he was caught before he even left the school gate.
The person was a girl about half a head taller than him, with bright eyes and pearly teeth, very pretty.
“Ah, Yuting, didn’t we agree…”
Lin You recognized the girl blocking his path and was confused by her actions.
“Ah You, I have something super important to tell you! Let’s go to the little grove at school. There’s no one there, so our secret relationship won’t be exposed.”
Yuting had a mysterious look on her face as her little mouth quickly proposed a plan.
“Alright, you lead the way.”
Lin You was completely baffled, but at Yuting’s strong request, he couldn’t refuse her.
The little grove.
This was the school’s green belt area. The chirping of cicadas and birds mingled together, and the lush trees provided shade from the summer heat.
Two sneaky little students appeared here—it was Lin You and Yuting.
“Sob sob, Ah You, my mom found out I went out last night.”
With no one else around, Yuting immediately pouted and tearfully told the boy about last night’s ordeal.
“Ah, is that so? Are you okay?”
After understanding the situation, Lin You wasn’t too surprised, as he had already imagined what would happen if his own grandmother found out.
He hadn’t expected that he would be fine, but Yuting would run into trouble.
“Sob, not okay at all. My mom hit me with a clothes hanger. My butt still hurts.”
Yuting spoke with “tears streaming down her face.” In truth, she had only confided this embarrassing matter to the boy.
To her other friends, she hadn’t said a word, acting as if everything was normal.
