Chapter 32: Yuting knows that he has another girlfriend

Baiyun Elementary School, in the grove of the green belt.

It was after school, a time when basically no students would be lingering here.

But there are always exceptions. Yuting had brought her boy-friend here to discuss a strategy.

Yuting’s mother had found out about her sneaking out at night, had given her a sound spanking, and warned her not to run around recklessly again.

Sob, Ah You, my mom is so mean. She wants to control everything I do.”

Yuting’s bright eyes flickered. She hoped the boy would help her “attack” her “heartless” mother.

“I think Yuting’s mom was just worried you’d run into danger running around at night. You can’t blame her.”

The precocious boy could understand Yuting’s mother’s intentions and tried to convey this to Yuting herself.

“Ah You, are you on my side or my mom’s side? Aren’t we good friends?”

Hearing the boy speak up for her mom was completely different from what Yuting had imagined. She was instantly displeased.

“Of course we’re friends.”

On the matter of friendship, Lin You gave a very clear response.

“It’s because we’re friends that I don’t want you to fight with your mom, Yuting. It’s not good for anyone…”

The boy further explained his simple and unadorned motive.

“That horrible, stinky mom! She won’t let me go out at night. What do you think I should do?”

Yuting viciously slapped the nearest tree.

This was what she was most worried about.

“Of course you have to listen to your mom.”

Lin You gave the correct advice.

“Hey, Ah You, but what about you? All alone at night, won’t that be so boring?”

Yuting’s heart ached. She had wanted to see Lin You show some dissatisfaction, or sadness, or something.

Was she the only one who really wanted to meet the boy at night?

“I’ll be fine. Before I met you, Yuting, it was always like this.”

Lin You, after all, couldn’t read minds and was unable to fathom the girl’s psychology.

“So you’re saying, it doesn’t matter to you whether I’m your friend or not, Ah You?”

Yuting’s expressive little face fell.

She cherished this special friendship immensely.

But she was discovering that Lin You was not the same as her.

This disparity made the girl feel very wronged and unhappy.

“No, that’s not it… Yuting, you’re my first friend, you’re very important. It’s just… I don’t want you and your mom to fight because of me… that’s not good…”

Lin You had always taken their friendship seriously, but his approach was a bit more mature than Yuting’s, which led to a deviation in their understanding.

In Yuting’s imagination, good friends should, of course, share blessings and hardships together.

Lin You believed… good friends should, of course, share blessings, but when it comes to hardships, he should bear them alone.

He couldn’t let Yuting suffer from family discord just so he wouldn’t be lonely in the dark.

“Hey, I know, Ah You…”

Yuting finally used her brain to think and successfully understood the boy’s intentions.

Although their friendship was fine, the thought of not being able to go out and accompany the boy at night still made her face fall.

“Alright, even if you don’t come to find me, Yuting, we’ll still be good friends forever.”

The boy did his best to comfort the girl, wanting her to return to her former energetic self.

“I’ll just lay low for a while. Once my mom lets her guard down, I’ll definitely come find you at night, Ah You. I will never abandon you.”

That was just Yuting’s personality, a typical case of forgetting the pain once the wound has healed. Her little bottom was still sore, yet she dared to make such a bold claim.

Perhaps because she was a girl, this kind of rebellious spirit seemed particularly strong in her.

“Yuting, since your family doesn’t agree, you really shouldn’t…”

The sensible Lin You persuaded her not to cause any more trouble.

“Aren’t you also sneaking out behind your family’s back, Ah You?”

Yuting retorted bluntly.

“Uh…”

The boy was suddenly at a loss for words.

Although he had his reasons, his situation was indeed much worse than Yuting’s.

“Ah You, don’t worry, I’ll definitely help you keep your secret. I’d rather die than tell.”

Afraid of causing a misunderstanding, the girl immediately patted her chest and promised.

“Mhm, mhm, of course I believe you, Yuting.”

Lin You was too embarrassed to persuade Yuting not to come out at night anymore. That would be too hypocritical.

“Hehehe, have some candy, Ah You. This is friendship candy.”

Yuting giggled sweetly, as if she had won a great battle. She pulled a few gummy candies from her pocket and gave them to the boy.

“Thank you.”

Lin You subconsciously wanted to refuse, but this wasn’t the first time he had faced this situation. Yuting’s enthusiasm was hard for him to resist.

He silently committed these gifts to memory, determined to repay her when he had the chance.

“Ah You, has anyone at school been bullying you?”

Yuting didn’t want to leave the grove yet and continued to ask questions.

“I’m fine, no one is bullying me.”

Lin You shook his head, giving a clear answer to avoid worrying his good friend.

“If anyone dares to bully you, you have to tell me. I’m a second-grader, I’m super strong. You first-graders are definitely afraid of me.”

Yuting was a little disappointed. She had been hoping the boy would be bullied so she could step in and then be met with a look of admiration.

“If I really get bullied, I’ll go to the teacher. You don’t have to worry too much, Yuting.”

The roots of their friendship were deeply embedded in the soil. Lin You felt very lucky to have met girls like Yuting and Yuxiu, who didn’t dislike him.

“By the way, Ah You, why are you always going up to the second floor with a girl? To see the teacher again?”

“And that girl from yesterday seems to have cut her hair short. It’s so weird.”

Yuting was very concerned about the boy’s affairs, so it was inevitable that she would pay attention to Yuxiu, who was often by his side.

“She’s Yuxiu, my classmate. She cut her hair short for me. Yuting, you shouldn’t laugh at her.”

Lin You seriously introduced his second girl-friend.

In his heart, there was no hierarchy between his two friends, but some of Yuting’s comments made him feel it was inappropriate.

“She cut her hair short for you, Ah You? Are you two very close? That’s something I could do too.”

Yuting mulled over the boy’s words, and a strange sourness welled up in her heart. Her mood suddenly soured.

“Yuxiu is also my friend. Yuting, don’t be angry. You’re both my good friends.”

Lin You’s gaze lifted. He noticed that a hint of purple was now intertwined with the green of friendship above Yuting’s head.

“I’m not angry. I have other friends besides you, Ah You.”

Yuting seemed reasonable, but if her cheeks weren’t puffed out in a pout, it would have been more convincing.

“Yuting…”

At this moment, Lin You had no concept of a girl’s jealousy. The girl’s strange behavior left him at a loss.

He wanted to comfort her but didn’t know where to start.

“Ah You made a new friend at school. It doesn’t matter if I’m there or not.”

Yuting couldn’t hide her thoughts at all. Without Lin You even having to ask, she spilled everything.
