The empty hallway echoed with the sound of violent knocking, or more accurately, pounding.
“Open the door! Why won’t you open the door!”
Gu Xiya’s hands continuously slapped against the iron door, as if she had mastered the Iron Sand Palm, determined to break it down.
Her palms were already red, yet she seemed oblivious to the pain, but the iron door remained unresponsive.
“Lin Shiyue! I know you’re in there!”
As soon as she finished speaking, the iron door creaked open.
Lin Shiyue took a step forward, and then she appeared in sight, hair disheveled, wearing a slip dress.
Her lips were redder than usual, and there was a suspicious glimmer of moisture at the corner of her mouth.
“So, it really is you.”
Gu Xiya glared hatefully at Lin Shiyue, her hands clenched into fists at her sides.
Just as she was about to step forward and burst into Su Cheng’s dorm, Lin Shiyue, anticipating this, blocked her while closing the door firmly behind her.
Blocked by Lin Shiyue, Gu Xiya glared daggers at her.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
“What am I doing?” Lin Shiyue crossed her arms, her eyes rolling. “I should be the one asking you, what are you doing here?”
“Chengcheng is sick. Do you want to go in and disturb her rest?”
Gu Xiya gritted her teeth, “You’re truly despicable. You knew she was sick, yet you still made a move on her.”
“Oh? Do you have any proof?”
“I heard everything!”
“So what? Do you have any proof?”
“You…”
Gu Xiya was speechless, staring at Lin Shiyue’s shameless expression, completely helpless against her.
Lin Shiyue smiled nonchalantly. Even if Gu Xiya had heard the commotion inside, she had no evidence to prove anything.
Therefore, the advantage was on Lin Shiyue’s side.
Gu Xiya could only point at Lin Shiyue in frustration, “You’re truly despicable.”
“Miss Gu, please don’t make baseless accusations,” Lin Shiyue sneered, looking down on Gu Xiya. “If I remember correctly, it’s military training time right now. You dare to sneak out? Aren’t you afraid of being punished?”
Gu Xiya snorted coldly, her face like ice, “I took a proper leave of absence. Chengcheng is sick and took leave, right?”
“So what? Aren’t you the same? I’m here to take care of Chengcheng.”
Gu Xiya shook her head and sneered, “Is this what you call taking care of her?”
Lin Shiyue leaned lazily against the doorframe, twirling a strand of her hair, “I have to help her take her medicine and change her clothes. Is there a problem?”
Gu Xiya took a step forward, “How is Chengcheng?”
“What did I do?” Lin Shiyue chuckled lightly, deliberately scratching her cheek. “Of course, I was taking care of a sick Chengcheng. What, are you the only one allowed to feign illness while I’m not allowed to care for her?”
Gu Xiya’s fists cracked, “I heard everything from outside just now! Chengcheng was clearly talking, yet you actually…”
“Hehe, you must have misunderstood. I didn’t do anything,” the corner of Lin Shiyue’s mouth lifted slightly, her words laced with a deeper meaning.
In Gu Xiya’s eyes, that smile was more like a provocation.
“You!”
Gu Xiya’s face instantly flushed, half from anger and half from embarrassment.
“Taking advantage of someone’s vulnerability! You’re truly despicable!”
“Without proof, anything you say is pointless.”
The two of them were at a standoff at the door, neither willing to back down.
“Alright, I’m done arguing with you. Arguing like this at the door will only disturb Chengcheng’s rest.”
As Lin Shiyue turned to leave, Gu Xiya blocked her path, “Stop! Don’t you move! Explain yourself clearly.”
“I’ve said everything I need to say. Whether you believe it or not is your problem,” Lin Shiyue’s face was impassive, as if nothing had happened between her and Su Cheng.
But Gu Xiya knew. The anger in her red eyes was already blazing, yet she was completely powerless against Lin Shiyue.
“Please step aside.”
Lin Shiyue gracefully sidestepped Gu Xiya, and this time, Gu Xiya didn’t stop her.
A dull thud of a closing door echoed in the empty dorm, leaving a helpless and dejected Gu Xiya standing frozen in place.
She felt like a cat whose treat had been stolen, left to grieve alone.
She stood in front of the closed door. Although the door was thin, it was an insurmountable chasm, separating her from Su Cheng.
The red glow in her eyes grew brighter, and her small fists weakly pounded against the wall.
“Damn it, damn it, stealing my Su Cheng like this, damn it all…”
Gu Xiya’s eyes were wide with fury, her expression terrifying.
A dreadful thought emerged in her mind, but how could she bear to harm the adorable Su Cheng?
‘I was a bit impulsive in my past life. Now that I finally have a way to get Su Cheng, even if it’s only for a short while, it’s still a beautiful thing.’
‘Since you’re all like this, then just you wait.’
‘You’re not the only ones who get to eat the meat.’
‘Hehe, my baby, just you wait for me…’
A pathological flush flashed across her face, the paranoia in her eyes surfacing and then sinking again.
Gu Xiya tossed the freshly bought fruit into the trash can downstairs.
No matter how fresh the orange, it had already been tasted by someone else.
“Soon, I will devour you.”
Su Cheng slept for a long time. When she woke up, her stomach was already growling.
The room wasn’t as bright as it had been in the morning. Orange sunlight streamed through the window, casting a dim yellow halo on the old tiles.
She thought about the time, but when she held her phone, it wouldn’t turn on no matter how many times she pressed the button.
“When did it run out of battery?”
Su Cheng scratched her head and groggily peeled the cooling patch from her forehead. The most urgent thing was to charge her phone.
She looked around the dorm. The neatly made beds were still the same, but Chen Xi and Sun Xiaochen were nowhere to be seen.
“They’re not back yet. Looks like I didn’t sleep for that long.”
She estimated that she had probably slept for half a day. After waking up, her fever had subsided, and her throat didn’t feel as uncomfortable, though her joints still ached faintly.
Thinking about how she had been “eaten clean” by Lin Shiyue in the morning, Su Cheng’s rosy cheeks couldn’t help but burn, a thin veil of crimson mist appearing on them.
“Why?”
The light words quickly dissipated into the air.
It was as if she was asking herself, but she was actually asking the absent Lin Shiyue.
‘I feel like a piece of cake that anyone can take a bite of.’
First, it was at Yin Xuelian’s villa, and this time, it was in the dorm.
In Su Cheng’s eyes, Lin Shiyue, who had taken advantage of her illness, was shameless, but there was nothing she could do about it.
She looked at her own bed, as if everything was fine.
But in reality, what was supposed to happen had happened, and what wasn’t supposed to happen had also happened.
‘After being reborn, can I really not escape their clutches?’
‘First Yin Xuelian, now Lin Shiyue.’
‘Hiss…’
The more Su Cheng thought about it, the more scared she became, and she sharply sucked in a breath of cold air.
It felt like it was fated.
“It’s best not to let her know…”
“Not let her know?”
“Whoa! You scared me to death!”
Su Cheng’s monologue received a response. The source of the voice was the seat under her bed.
She knew from the voice that it was Yin Xuelian.
Yin Xuelian’s beautiful head slowly appeared from the edge of the bed, a faint smile on her face.
The first thing Su Cheng felt upon seeing Yin Xuelian was fear.
“Hmm? You just said not to let her know. Who were you not going to let know? Wifey.”
Hearing Yin Xuelian say the word ‘wifey,’ Su Cheng’s delicate face immediately turned red.
“Who’s your wifey, you silly Sister Lian.”
Yin Xuelian smiled faintly and said gently, “Of course, it’s my most adorable Little Orange.”
“I’m not your wifey!”
Yin Xuelian propped herself up and sat on the edge of the bed, reaching out to rub Su Cheng’s rosy cheeks, chuckling, “Poor Little Orange is sick.”
“I-I’m not your wifey, hmph!” Su Cheng turned her head towards the wall and snorted coquettishly.
“Hehe, wifey is being coquettish again. So cute.”
“I told you, I’m not your wifey! You’re not allowed to call me that!”
“Alright, alright, little baby.”
Su Cheng was speechless and rolled her eyes at Yin Xuelian. She escaped the comfortable bed and slowly climbed down the ladder.
“Sister Lian, why are you here? How did you get in?”
Yin Xuelian moved the chair by her feet to make space, then reached out to stop Su Cheng, wrapping her arms around her waist.
“Your roommate told me you were sick with a fever. But I was too busy in the morning, and I couldn’t reach you, so I had to come see you at noon. It just so happened that your roommate was back too.”
“Haha, my phone died. I didn’t even notice.”
“No wonder.”
In her arms, Su Cheng looked up at Yin Xuelian’s gentle face, and her gaze inadvertently swept over the lunchbox on the desk.
Noticing Su Cheng’s gaze, Yin Xuelian followed her line of sight and took the opportunity to touch her forehead, “I bought this lunch at noon. It’s cold now.”
“Your fever’s gone. Are you hungry?”
“I am. I haven’t eaten for most of the day.”
“Growl, growl, growl.”
Su Cheng laughed awkwardly, inhaling the faint scent of jasmine from Yin Xuelian, momentarily at a loss for words.
Yin Xuelian smiled faintly, her warm palm gently caressing her cheek, “What do you want to eat?”
Su Cheng looked at the cold food on the desk and pointed, “I’ll just eat this. We can’t waste it.”
“Huh? But it’s cold.”
“I think there’s a microwave in the dorm manager’s office on the first floor.”
Yin Xuelian was a little surprised, “You know about that?”
Su Cheng smiled and nodded, “Of course. I saw it by chance, hehe.”
“But…”
Yin Xuelian was still a little hesitant.
“Aiya, we can just heat it up. We can’t waste food.”
Su Cheng’s words left Yin Xuelian with nothing more to say.
“Alright then. I’ll go heat it up. You wait for me.”
“Okay.”
Su Cheng replied obediently, watching as Yin Xuelian left with the lunchbox.
Taking advantage of this time, Su Cheng quickly ran to the bathroom to take care of her own business.
And change her clothes while she was at it.
