Chapter 69: Unexpected Confessions and a Fiancee’s Fury

Ouyang Xiyue and Night Xuehui, walking along the academy road, remained utterly oblivious to the throngs of students gawking at them.

Even with the incessant chattering around them, as students clustered in twos, threes, or larger groups, their discussions revolved around the inexplicable events of what had been, moments ago, a perfectly ordinary noon.

What exactly had transpired?

From where had this unexpected display of public affection sprung?

While ordinary couples at the academy were one thing, how had the two most prominent figures of the institution secretly become entangled?

Though their recent closeness had fueled various speculations among the students, this sudden development was beyond anyone’s expectations.

Indeed, it seemed the world was vast, full of wonders, and anything was truly possible.

At this very moment, facing the large crowd of onlookers, Ouyang Xiyue and Night Xuehui appeared to disregard their surroundings entirely.

Within their own minds, however, countless private thoughts churned.

‘In Ouyang Xiyue’s heart, a whirlwind of thoughts erupted.

‘While the initial intention had been merely to provoke that fellow Chi Congyu, it now seemed as though things had escalated far beyond what he had anticipated.

‘What was he to do?

‘What was he to do?!’

‘Pfft, the mere recollection filled him with an overwhelming sense of shame.’

‘He was a boy!’

‘And… and Night Xuehui was also a boy!’

‘He had been… forcefully kissed by a boy?’

‘Though, admittedly, the boy was quite handsome, that wasn’t the point!’

‘No, this was all Night Xuehui’s fault!’

‘Night Xuehui!’

‘It was entirely Night Xuehui’s doing, launching that sudden, unexpected kiss.’

‘Ugh! Honestly, if Night Xuehui were to discover that he was also a boy, would he be scared to death?’

‘Actually, it felt rather good, quite amusing, even.’

‘No, no… he still needed to keep it a secret…’

Meanwhile, Night Xuehui’s thoughts were in utter disarray.

‘I…!’

‘Is this real or fake?!’

‘What did I just… just do?!’

‘Ouyang Xiyue is a girl, just like me!’

‘I… I actually developed feelings for… a girl…!’

‘Oh no! Oh no!’

‘This was terrible, a major crisis concerning her sexual orientation?!’

‘But… but if she thought about it carefully, she couldn’t recall any boys she actually liked.’

‘And Ouyang Xiyue, being a girl, with her fragrant and soft demeanor, seemed rather appealing…’

At that very moment, a seed was quietly and unknowingly planted in Night Xuehui’s heart.

It was slowly taking root and sprouting, yet she remained utterly oblivious.

Arm in arm, the two slowly walked out of the gates of Saint Sea Academy, gradually disappearing from the students’ sight.

****

Both simultaneously soared into the sky on their swords, hovering above the Saint Sea, each attempting to calm their tumultuous emotions.

“Hey, Ouyang Xiyue, are you satisfied now?” Night Xuehui asserted, her gaze fixed forward, her face once again adopting a dismissive expression.

“Your plan has succeeded, hasn’t it?

“With this, we owe each other nothing; from this moment on… all debts between us are cleared, and you won’t have to come to my house as a maid anymore.”

To Ouyang Xiyue, Night Xuehui’s demeanor was overflowing with tsundere pride.

Naturally, Night Xuehui still harbored a great deal of reluctance in her heart.

Despite her outward words, a hint of unwillingness persisted within her, yet she had already agreed.

Night Xuehui considered it for a moment, then decided to let it go.

Still, it didn’t seem like a loss after all.

Taking advantage of Ouyang Xiyue’s inattention, Night Xuehui slowly reduced her speed, then gently raised a hand to touch her own lips.

Instantly, images from the academy flooded her mind once more.

The girl’s lips had been so soft, and her body carried a faint floral scent—a truly intoxicating fragrance that left one craving more.

“Hmph! It’s a deal then! I’m leaving, goodbye!” Ouyang Xiyue declared, then accelerated, preparing to depart.

A hint of secret delight stirred in Night Xuehui’s heart at that moment.

‘What a charming fellow,’ she thought.

‘So shy, is he still embarrassed, perhaps? Hehehe.’

“Hey, why are you in such a hurry to leave?” Night Xuehui called out.

“Let’s talk a bit more, wait for me!”

With that, she also sped up, catching up to him.

“Who wants to talk to you!” Ouyang Xiyue retorted, displaying resolute coldness.

“I have things to do, I won’t bother you anymore, goodbye!”

He was clearly determined to leave, unwilling to stay even for another moment.

Night Xuehui, observing from the side, assumed Ouyang Xiyue was angry.

On second thought, it made sense; after all, she had been the one at fault initially.

Yet, if time were to rewind, she believed she would still make the same choice—no regrets!

However, Ouyang Xiyue’s thoughts diverged entirely from Night Xuehui’s.

He could distinctly feel the aura of the necklace he wore around his neck, rapidly approaching him.

From that silver pendant resting on his chest, Ouyang Xiyue could clearly sense the terrifying presence emanating from the other end of the necklace.

This necklace had been a gift from Chi Congyu to Ouyang Xiyue, supposedly a token of their affection.

More accurately, Chi Congyu had forcibly given it to Ouyang Xiyue.

Ouyang Xiyue had no recourse, for he owed such a massive favor that he felt as though he himself had been ‘pawned off.’ Pfft.

Nevertheless, Ouyang Xiyue harbored no regrets.

His thoughts mirrored Night Xuehui’s recent sentiments: if time were to reverse, he would still make the same choice.

“Damn it… tsk, too late,” Ouyang Xiyue muttered under his breath.

“That Chi Congyu fellow is incredibly fast; they’re almost here…”

Night Xuehui, who had been keenly observing Ouyang Xiyue, naturally caught snippets of his murmuring.

She couldn’t discern what he was saying, however, as his voice was too faint, and the piercing rush of air from their rapid sword flight drowned out the words, rendering even her acute hearing helpless.

Just as Night Xuehui prepared to speak, a sudden chill ran down her spine.

Her combat instincts screamed at her that she had been locked onto by a powerful magical force.

“Quick, behind me!” Night Xuehui exclaimed, spinning around abruptly.

With a gentle surge of magic, she pulled Ouyang Xiyue behind her.

“Power of the Bloodline! Star’s Eye! Open!

“Great Ancestor Lucifer, your descendant borrows a fraction of your dormant strength to awaken your strongest defense!

“Awaken! Satan’s Shield!”

Night Xuehui completed this entire sequence of actions with extreme speed.

Behind Night Xuehui, Ouyang Xiyue felt the surge of magic emanating from her entire body, expanding at an incredibly terrifying and astonishing rate.

Even he felt profoundly inferior.

Could this truly be the magical power of a fourteen or fifteen-year-old child?

It was genuinely breathtakingly formidable.

“Clang!”

Suddenly, a piercing sound ripped through the air from a distance.

A colossal golden sword, exuding an unstoppable, divine aura, much like a sun sword poised to shatter darkness, collided with the defense Night Xuehui had erected.

An astonishing boom erupted, followed by a massive explosion and shockwave generated by the immense energy impact.

The Saint Sea beneath Night Xuehui and Ouyang Xiyue’s feet hissed and sizzled as a vast expanse of water evaporated, filling the air with a dense, white mist of steam.

Yet, in the blink of an eye, the vanished seawater replenished itself, as if it had never disappeared at all.

Night Xuehui and Ouyang Xiyue were also enveloped by the shockwave generated by the explosion.

Strangely, however, the two remained utterly motionless in the air, as if such a colossal burst of energy had not affected them in the slightest.

Night Xuehui slowly retracted her magic, exhaling a long breath.

Her eyes, suddenly filled with murderous intent, fixed upon a figure that was slowly materializing in mid-air before them.

It was none other than… the intensely jealous Chi Congyu.

Chi Congyu had rushed over at her fastest possible speed, literally without stopping—though, in reality, she had been flying on her sword.

Along the way, as she read the news on the forum, she felt as though she might explode with rage.

A cuckold’s hat! Such an enormous hat!

“Night Xuehui! Stay away from my Xi’er! You wretched fiend!” Chi Congyu roared, her face contorted with fury, pointing a wrathful finger at Night Xuehui in the distance.

“Hm?!” Night Xuehui scoffed, her own anger beginning to boil over.

“I wondered who would openly attack like this.

“So it’s the Pope’s granddaughter, it seems the Pope has been far too lenient with you!

“What do you mean, ‘my Xi’er’?!

“This scoundrel, using such powerful magic, were you trying to kill us?”

Such a pleasant leisure time had been abruptly interrupted by this sudden lunatic.

“Aren’t you perfectly fine?” Chi Congyu retorted.

“Besides, with my Xi’er’s strength, he would certainly be safe and sound.

“The magic was originally locked onto you; it was you who pulled my Xi’er behind you, otherwise, Xi’er would have long since fled far away.”

Although Chi Congyu spoke with such bravado, she still reconsidered, realizing she had been too impulsive.

What if Xi’er had actually been hurt?

“Alright, alright, let’s both stop arguing,” Ouyang Xiyue interjected, crossing his arms and directly questioning Chi Congyu, utterly devoid of any sense of wrongdoing for his earlier actions.

“Chi Congyu, how did you know to come out and see me?

“Why aren’t you hiding anymore?

“Didn’t you not want to see me?”

Chi Congyu could only scratch her head helplessly, thinking, ‘Grandpa, you’ve truly landed me in a terrible mess!’

“Hehe, Xi’er, listen to me,” Chi Congyu said, patting her chest in an oath.

“Didn’t I have my reasons for not being able to speak?

“Come back with me, and I’ll explain everything from beginning to end, without a single omission.”

“Alright, I was just deliberately provoking you, so you wouldn’t come out,” Ouyang Xiyue admitted, scratching his head apologetically.

“Night Xuehui, we’re leaving now.

“Sorry, Chi Congyu sometimes acts without thinking; I’ve apologized to her on your behalf.

“Bye-bye.”

With that, he flew out from behind Night Xuehui.

“I’m telling you, Night Xuehui,” Chi Congyu declared loudly, as if asserting her claim.

“Xi’er is my fiancée!

“Please stay away from him from now on!”

Hearing Chi Congyu’s words, Ouyang Xiyue felt a headache beginning to throb.

‘Ah, forget it, just stay calm, stay calm,’ he thought.

“Too talkative,” Ouyang Xiyue muttered, then left without a backward glance.

Chi Congyu followed close behind, not hurrying.

Before leaving, Chi Congyu cast a triumphant smile at Night Xuehui, who was still some distance away.

At that very moment, Night Xuehui felt a torrent of confusion flood her mind.

The three words that still echoed in her thoughts were like a demonic whisper.

“Fiancée?!!!?!”

‘Could it be… that Ouyang Xiyue’s self-introduction on the first day of school wasn’t a lie… and even the kiss just now wasn’t truly his first time?… This…’ Night Xuehui felt as though something within her had shattered, and a wave of discomfort washed over her entire body.

A short while later, she too slowly departed.
