Chapter 18: Hey, I’m also the Sword Sect Master’s good friend!

“Why is that?” Song Xiaoxiao pressed.

“Well…” Su Li’er shrugged, her beautiful sakura-pink eyes blinking. “I naturally have my reasons… Big Sister Song, you were the one at the scene. Why didn’t you come out to meet me?”

‘I’d like to see who you really are.’

‘At that time… only the Sect Master and I were there. Could it be one of the guests who fainted and then woke up?’

‘Or perhaps…’

“I also have my reasons,” Song Xiaoxiao stated calmly.

The general store fell silent for a moment.

A strange atmosphere began to permeate the air.

“Right, right, right.” Su Li’er blew a puff of air dismissively, sending her snow-white bangs flying. “Big Sister Song, just keep trying to get information out of me. You’re not sincere at all. I might as well not do this business!”

Song Xiaoxiao was taken aback. “What I said is true.”

“Then…” A hint of sakura pink bloomed in Su Li’er’s beautiful eyes, the corners of her mouth turning up slightly. “What’s the sincere reason?”

“Alright.” Song Xiaoxiao thought for a moment. “I am a good friend of the Sword Sect’s Sect Master. Naturally, I am concerned about her.”

“A good friend of the Sword Sect’s Sect Master?” Su Li’er was surprised. She hadn’t expected such an answer.

Does the big ice block Sect Master have any friends?

I remember her being all alone, didn’t she?

And she always said she didn’t have any friends… Could it be that the Sect Master was lying?

Impossible.

The Sect Master has no reason to lie. I know the Sect Master.

Which means… this woman in front of me might have some ill intentions towards the Sect Master? She’s trying to get information, but her real target is actually the Sect Master?

“An extremely good friend,” Song Xiaoxiao nodded.

“Oh right, Big Sister Song and the Sword Sect’s Sect Master share the same surname. Could it be…” Su Li’er narrowed her eyes, deep in thought.

Song Xiaoxiao suddenly grew nervous.

“Could it be that you are relatives?” Su Li’er guessed.

“Ah… right.” Song Xiaoxiao nodded emphatically, sighing in relief inwardly. ‘Thank goodness, this nine-tailed fox isn’t very bright…’

“So that’s how it is!” Su Li’er rubbed her small chin, once again lost in thought.

A relative of the Sect Master?

Really?

No matter what… I have to be more careful. I absolutely cannot expose my junior sister identity!

But they are both quite large…

“Where are you looking!?” Song Xiaoxiao covered her chest with her hand.

“The mounds,” Su Li’er blurted out.

—Bang!

The tabletop was slammed heavily. The cola flew up, splashed, and fell onto the wooden floor, spilling everywhere.

Su Li’er quickly lifted her foot, but it still got splashed. She shook her fair little foot vigorously, looking extremely disheveled and comical.

Song Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Of course, it was a heartless, mocking laugh.

“You, you’re much more violent than the Sword Sect’s Sect Master!” Su Li’er grumbled indignantly, placing her feet on the chair and curling up into a ball, hugging her knees.

‘Damn it, if I didn’t only have 8 hours of lifespan left, I would have definitely thrown you out to feed the pigs!’

‘So annoying…’

“Little Heavenly Dao is quite familiar with the Sword Sect’s Sect Master?” Song Xiaoxiao had caught onto something.

“Of course!” Su Li’er said nonchalantly.

“And what is the relationship between Little Heavenly Dao and the Sword Sect’s Sect Master?” Song Xiaoxiao hinted. What was this nine-tailed fox’s purpose?

For the Sword Sect’s secret manual?

She possesses such immense power, what could she possibly see in it?

“Doesn’t Big Sister Song know?” Su Li’er asked.

Song Xiaoxiao hesitated for a moment. “I do not.”

“I’m also a good friend of the Sword Sect’s Sect Master!” A cunning glint flashed in Su Li’er’s eyes. ‘Hmph, hmph, you think you’re the only one who can tell barefaced lies?’

‘If you can lie, then so can I!’

‘You, you must have some ill intentions towards this fox, right?’

‘Investigating and trying to get information… do you think I’m that easy to fool? You won’t find out anything!’

“How is that possible?” Song Xiaoxiao was dazed.

The corner of Su Li’er’s mouth lifted.

‘As I thought, you… you were lying, weren’t you!’

‘I caught you, didn’t I?’

“How did you get to know… the Sword Sect’s Sect Master?” Song Xiaoxiao’s emotions were in turmoil.

“You have to ask even that?” Su Li’er looked at her with suspicion. “Is Big Sister Song planning to do something to my good friend?”

“You’re lying!” Song Xiaoxiao retorted.

Su Li’er pouted. “Isn’t Big Sister Song lying too?”

“I am not.” Song Xiaoxiao’s face was ashen. ‘Calm down, calm down! This nine-tailed fox is doing it on purpose!’

“Hmm? Are you not?” Su Li’er twirled a strand of her snow-white hair around her fingertip, making circles.

“There’s no need to deceive you,” Song Xiaoxiao regained her composure in a second.

“Ah, is that so?” Su Li’er was still playing with her hair, distracted. “Actually, I’m not deceiving you either.”

“…You damn fox,” Song Xiaoxiao cursed under her breath.

“Hey!” Su Li’er got serious. “I’m telling the truth. The Sword Sect’s Sect Master and I are super, super, super good friends, no deception to the old or young!”

“Who knows if you’re telling the truth,” Song Xiaoxiao said.

“Fine, don’t believe me then.” Su Li’er couldn’t be bothered to argue.

Song Xiaoxiao began to think.

‘My good friend?’

‘What good friends do I have!?’

‘Nonsense!’

‘If you’re talking about someone who’s on very good terms with me, there’s only one person!’

‘Wait…’

‘Little Li?’

Angel persona: ‘Song Ruoxue, there are only two possibilities right now. First, the nine-tailed fox isn’t lying to you. She is indeed your good friend… someone you know. But you don’t know anyone around you, only Junior Sister…’

‘Are you trying to say that this nine-tailed fox is Junior Sister?’

‘How is that possible!?’

‘Nonsense!’

Devil persona: ‘Dear Sect Master of the Sword Sect, there is another possibility. This nine-tailed fox is lying to you. She might have already set up something extraordinary in the Cloud Sea Sword Pavilion. After all, the stone wall of the ten thousand immortals is there…’

‘Right.’

‘That makes sense.’

‘The ten thousand immortals… might really be able to move this nine-tailed fox.’

‘But what does she want to use the ten thousand immortals for?’

Angel persona: ‘You have to believe me! Song Ruoxue, my judgment is definitely not wrong this time!’

Devil persona: ‘Your judgment is completely unfounded, all nonsense! Go away! Dear Sect Master of the Sword Sect, even if Little Heavenly Dao possesses invincible combat power in this world, there must be something she wants, right?’

‘Something she wants?’

‘What would someone with invincible combat power want… Could it be?’

Devil persona: ‘That’s right, long life! The ten thousand immortals are the heroic spirits from ancient times to the present. The secret to long life might be among them. This nine-tailed fox liberated the ten thousand immortals simply as a deal with them!’

‘Is that so… what you mean is?’

Devil persona: ‘The ten thousand immortals told the nine-tailed fox the secret to long life, and the nine-tailed fox liberated the ten thousand immortals. That’s why the seal on the stone wall of the Cloud Sea Sword Pavilion was broken… Her purpose must have been this!’

She was in a daze.

The truth was right before her eyes.

‘For the sake of long life, she broke the seal of the ten thousand immortals… saving me and Junior Sister was just a matter of convenience, she just thought that bandit was in the way?’

‘This nine-tailed fox indeed has this kind of rebellious personality.’

‘She said so much just to try and find out my identity, right?’

‘I will absolutely not tell her!’

“What is Big Sister Song thinking about?” Su Li’er stretched lazily.

“Nothing.” Song Xiaoxiao came back to her senses and said calmly, “Continue my treatment.”

“Oh, the treatment!” Su Li’er’s eyes darted around, then she said with a troubled expression, “You see… my feet are all sticky, I can’t get down. How about Big Sister Song goes and gets a basin of water to wash my feet for me? Once they’re clean, I’ll start the treatment.”

The corner of Song Xiaoxiao’s mouth twitched.

‘This… damn fox!!!’
