Chapter 28: I’ll Make You Block the Bridge! I’ll Make You Block the Bridge!

The white motorcycle sped along the road, and the red leather trench coat on Cyril flapped wildly in the wind.

To be honest, Cyril still hadn’t figured out why Evelyn insisted on making him wear a red leather trench coat.

But, to be fair, Cyril actually kind of liked it.

Wearing it made him feel as if, by some hidden fate, he had become a devil-slaying, fear-inducing, stylish rogue uncle.

Of course, that was just an illusion.

After all, Cyril was still young—not quite at the “uncle” stage yet.

As he raced forward, Cyril saw several racers who had been ahead of him now either flipped over on the roadside or turned into flaming fireballs along with their bikes.

“Tsk… brutal…”

Cyril drifted perfectly around a 90° sharp turn, only to spot one unlucky rider pinned against a wall by the spikes on the side of his bike.

It looked like a chunk of meat nailed to a board.

Recalling the ruined building he had seen earlier, Cyril quickly realized that this must be the handiwork of that crazy Evelyn.

Insane…

Probably only that woman could come up with such a wildly efficient solution.

“Prepare to die, brat!”

A rough voice called from the side-rear. Just by hearing it, Cyril could tell the owner of the voice was not a good person.

Through the rearview mirror, Cyril saw the man chasing him.

The man wore sunglasses, had a Mohawk, was bulky, and his thick beard looked like a jungle.

In a race where he was constantly running with death, he wasn’t even wearing a helmet—the most basic protective gear.

Did he have absolute confidence in himself, or was he just stupid?

Or maybe…

He thought I’d be easy to mess with?

The man was hoisting a rocket-launcher-like device, with a horn-shaped protrusion resembling a rhino’s horn at the muzzle. Just by looking, it was obvious this thing wasn’t light.

If it hit, at best it would destroy the bike and throw the rider off balance; at worst, both rider and bike would be smashed into a heap of scrap and flesh.

Cyril turned his head, and an invisible force shot out from his eyes, penetrating the dark visor of the man’s goggles and stabbing straight into his eyes.

“Looks like… you’re not a good person either.”

Cyril smirked, savoring the information that force had brought him.

This man was David Ferrier. Just judging by his usual antics, “beast” was an apt description.

His favorite thing to do was, once the race started, charge ahead to John Bridge, park and shut off his bike, then use his rocket-launcher device to block later riders from passing.

In almost every race, he could score two or three kills this way.

More than winning prizes, he seemed to enjoy the thrill of slaughtering his opponents.

And all of this had been observed by Cyril through his uniquely demonic, invisible mental powers.

In other words, this guy was a deservedly doomed man.

He was chasing because his prey—Cyril—had just raced past his bridge-blocking tactic at terrifying speed.

Seeing his prey break through his blockade like a thunderbolt must have infuriated him.

Cyril’s lips curved into an arrogant grin.

Then…

He slowly extended his hand toward a nearby building.

Inside, the metal objects began to twitch faintly, then increasingly violently, sparks of purple electricity jumping between them.

It was as if an invisible force was drawing them together.

But after rounding the next turn, Cyril immediately withdrew his hand.

Not because he lacked the ability to maintain the arc and create a magnetic field, nor because he suddenly felt mercy for the man behind him.

He had no intention of sparing a beast who took pleasure in slaughtering others.

It was because he saw ahead a rolling spherical object on the road and a thin steel wire suspended in the air, dripping blood.

“Looks like I don’t need to intervene…”

Cyril twisted the throttle. Facing the deadly wire, he didn’t slow down; instead, he accelerated straight toward it.

Not even a hint of evasive maneuver.

“Zzzz!”

A strange sound rang out as he passed through the wire. Cyril’s figure flickered, as if an unstable current had caused a light to strobe.

The wire passed through him during the flicker, as if passing through a phantom, causing no harm whatsoever.

“Brat! All you do is run?!”

David roared from behind. Cyril’s speed prevented him from aiming properly, forcing him to accelerate to reach Cyril’s vicinity.

At close range, the steel rhino horn from his launcher could flatten the boy and bike together.

But just as he tried to throttle harder and catch up, a gust of cold wind brushed his neck.

“Pfft!”

A ludicrous sound erupted, and his vision began to spin wildly.

What the hell?

His anger-fueled rationality hadn’t yet comprehended what had happened when the head severed by the wire fell heavily to the ground.

“Hmph~”

Ahead, Cyril hummed a discordant tune.

Despite being a bulky man, he liked to block bridges in a sneaky, cowardly way. What would he think if his own head were cut off by a wire left by an even more cunning competitor?

But that was none of Cyril’s concern. Riding the White Widow, he flickered like lightning past the three steel wires that blocked all possible paths for those behind him.

Again, the wires caused him no harm.

In the center of the urban race track ahead, two terrifying craters slowly emitted smoke, only to be instantly blown away by Cyril’s wild speed.

Cyril knew these craters well—they were obviously caused by Evelyn’s exaggerated revolver: “Shut Up.”

Only such a deadly weapon could leave craters like that in the road.

Nearby, a heavily damaged bike, along with its rider, burned fiercely. It looked as if it had been suddenly shredded by a massive chainsaw appearing from the side.

The ground still bore burning tire tracks, the entire road seeming to be gouged by something moving at extreme speed.

Nearby buildings were slowly collapsing, as if someone had just raced through, smashing several structures in succession.

Those marks probably weren’t Evelyn’s doing, were they?

Cyril rode the White Widow through the flames. Evelyn’s bike, like his, was unmodified, meaning her bike couldn’t have caused that level of destruction.

In other words, all this chaos must have been caused by the undefeated champion Cage.

So Evelyn had already clashed with Cage…

I wonder how that battle is going.

“Hope you don’t die too quickly, Evelyn…”

Cyril licked his lips, pushing the throttle further along the blazing tire tracks.

He even entertained the thought of using the chaos to kill Evelyn himself.

Standing up, his arrogant personality fully expressed itself. If he got the chance, he thought he wouldn’t hesitate to completely eliminate the crazy woman.

The White Widow’s streamlined body cut through the air. Not far ahead, the blazing wall of fire came into view.

Along with the fire, the heavy, dark shadow—like a giant beast charging from rooftop to rooftop—appeared.
