Chapter 14: The Four Greats: Scrutiny and Redemption on Awakened Dream

Awakened Dream

[BEST] A Rundown of the Four Greats Constantly Scrutinized on Hunter Space

There are four major figures always getting trashed on Hunter Space, you know?

I’m a hunter myself, so I frequent Hunter Space and occasionally see them. It’s truly disgusting how relentlessly these four are criticized.

Now that the latest controversy has erupted, I thought I’d compile a summary. Please keep in mind that my personal opinions are included.

1. Night’s Alchemist and Kwon Ye-na

Night’s Alchemist and Kwon Ye-na are so well-known that even muggles, not just those interested in hunters enough to be here, would recognize them. LOL.

While they aren’t on the insurmountable level of Joo Yi-won or Cheongram, they are definitely a crafting guild ranking within the world’s top 10.

Kwon Ye-na, the guild leader, is in some ways even harder to meet than Joo Yi-won. If you lined up everyone who wants to meet her for a crafting commission, the queue would easily stretch around Seoul.

However, her father handles all external affairs, while she primarily dedicates herself to research.

What’s more, their partnership with Cheongram, another domestic guild, allows them to produce rare potions and equipment using precious materials. This results in higher quality products than other guilds.

Yet, Hunter Space relentlessly trashes Night’s Alchemist. Seriously, they trash them so, so, so much. If you just visit Hunter Space, you’d think Night’s Alchemist was some corrupt guild dealing drugs. LOL.

I know they’ve spread rumors multiple times and even been sued, but perhaps because hunters have so much money, they just pay the fines and keep going. They never stop the criticism.

The reason? ‘It’s too expensive.’

Isn’t it obvious that it would be expensive? They’re the undisputed number one crafting guild; naturally, their prices are high. Not everything is expensive, though. Potions available to the general public are reasonably priced.

But people are creating a massive uproar because the potions that enhance their own abilities are sold at high prices. They’re incredibly unreasonable.

As a hunter, I’ve used hunter-specific potions, and their quality is genuinely on a different level, making the price completely justifiable.

What’s funny is that when they criticize Kwon Ye-na, they don’t just complain about crafting fees or item prices. Kwon Ye-na is completely absorbed in her research, isn’t she?

She doesn’t really bother with dressing up and is rather modest. She dresses neatly and appropriately for public appearances, of course. But then people criticize her for dressing casually when caught on camera and even comment on her appearance.

Their jealousy is truly transparent.

At least within Hunter Space, there are people who push back against the appearance shaming, so it self-corrects somewhat. But once the cooldown is over, they crawl back out and start criticizing again. LOL.

I’ve fought them hard too, but even with reports, they don’t seem to face significant sanctions, so they just keep appearing.

2. Hunter Association

The Hunter Association, well… frankly, they get a lot of flak not just on Hunter Space, but everywhere else too. LOLOLOLOL.

It seems like at least five posts a day appear on Awakened Dream about how entry-level staff treat people dismissively after they’ve been judged F-rank.

There are even people who long for the days when Joo Yi-won first established the Hunter Association. But if it were still like that, it wouldn’t have as many functions as it does now, right? Anyway…

Naturally, Hunter Space has no choice but to criticize them because the Association distributes cracks based on predictions. If people don’t like that, they criticize it. They also criticize the inability to exchange Hunter Coins for regular currency. Heh.

To some extent, I understand those complaints, as it concerns their livelihoods.

Honestly, as a hunter (which is why I understand the atmosphere on Hunter Space), I sometimes feel frustrated with the Hunter Association. They have quite a few F-rank Awakener employees who aren’t hunters.

Rumor has it that these positions often go to those born with a silver spoon rather than based on other qualifications. Hmm, well. ^^

They do some things well. Crack alerts and responses are handled effectively (the prediction system’s flaws are unavoidable), and their post-incident handling for ordinary citizens is excellent.

But then again, most national agencies are like that. Anyway, sometimes people criticize them for strange things (like when they fought for four days straight over the logo being ugly; I thought they were crazy), and other times the criticism feels justified.

However, the most significant criticism is related to section 3. It’s a total madhouse. LOLOLOL. I’ll explain it next.

3. Shin Ji-ho

Actually, this post is a summary because there’s a new controversy about Shin Ji-ho manipulating things again, and this section will be the most detailed.

Shin Ji-ho is the public enemy of Hunter Space.

If you only looked at Hunter Space, you’d think Shin Ji-ho controls the U.S. President, holds China in the palm of his hand, looks down on the Blue House, and, as the third son of Cheongram—a super-giant conglomerate that controls about 70% of the world’s wealth—orders the Hunter Association around with a nod and treats hunters as less than ants. He’s a total scumbag. It sounds like nonsense, but that’s what they say. LOL.

Honestly, when Shin Ji-ho Awakened, this place (Awakened Dream) also got a bit carried away. LOLOLOL. Those who criticized him then should apologize, even if they weren’t sued.

Back then, everyone was excitedly predicting Shin Ji-ho would be at least S-rank, quickly accumulate achievements, and rise to SS-rank. They drank a huge cup of national pride in advance. LOLOLOL.

When he was announced as B-rank, they were equally disappointed, grumbling, and then, as soon as suspicions arose, they tore into him from all sides. LOLOLOLOL.

What’s currently causing the most controversy is:

‘Did Shin Ji-ho really acquire a good new skill?’

That’s the question.

Honestly, from my perspective, it’s strange not to believe it when an A-rank and a B-rank miraculously clear an S-rank dungeon and the A-rank confirms it. But let me elaborate.

Anyone who’s picked up bits and pieces in Awakened Dream knows that a B-rank isn’t some pushover. The Awakened population worldwide is about 3 million, right? Among them, B-rank or higher accounts for about 10%. They are strong.

From what I can see, he has plenty of room for growth. Haven’t you all seen Shin Ji-ho’s Awakening video on MyTube at least once? It was incredible. Since he was that kind of person, it’s possible his potential is only now exploding.

People are spouting nonsense like ‘there’s no precedent for suddenly acquiring good skills.’ Honestly, it’s only been three years since the cracks appeared; what ‘precedent’ are you looking for? If it happens, it happens.

To be precise:

It’s unprecedented for new skills to appear (X)

New skills *can* appear (O)

It’s unprecedented for a newly acquired skill to be significantly better than the existing rank (O)

That’s the real situation, isn’t it?

But think about it, guys.

Are you all ignoring Shin Ji-ho because you constantly dismiss him? Shin Ji-ho is, in fact, the >>world’s first Awakener<

This chapter makes no sense. Shin Ji-ho was apparently the world’s first awakened. Why would everyone even know or understand about ranks to speculate? The world building for this story is a bit wonky with everything like ‘The Association’ being so organized and having what seems like a baked in reputation. It is supposed to be ‘3’ years since the first rift appeared.
