Chapter 21: The Price of a Punch

“What are you doing! You’re actually hitting her!!!”

As Bai Mengze brutally attacked Wen Ruo, the previously lecherous Ren Hao finally sobered up. Seeing Wen Ruo’s face bruised and swollen, he spoke in a panicked tone.

Ren Hao’s wealth stemmed solely from his parents’ booming business ventures.

Having taken over the family enterprise less than a year ago, Ren Hao was, strictly speaking, nothing more than a pampered young master.

He had never encountered a woman as ferocious as Bai Mengze.

She attacked without hesitation, and with such brutal force!

It was as if she were trying to beat someone to death!

Not only Ren Hao, but even Ji Wenyan had never witnessed such a sight.

Bai Mengze’s appearance was simply too deceptive!

With such a commotion erupting in the shopping mall, a crowd quickly gathered, eager to witness the unfolding drama.

Some onlookers immediately raised their phones, ready to record.

In the distance, security guards rushed closer.

Seeing the situation escalate, Ji Wenyan immediately stepped forward to stop Bai Mengze from continuing her assault. If a video of this fight were uploaded online, Bai Mengze would become infamous.

These days, people would lambast someone for three days and three nights, regardless of the cause, simply by watching a clip.

For the sake of future peace, Bai Mengze could not continue.

“Bai Mengze, stop for a moment. There are too many people around! You can’t keep hitting her, or you’ll get into trouble.”

“I’m not afraid of trouble.”

To prevent his ally from being attacked, Ji Wenyan spoke preemptively as he approached.

Upon hearing Ji Wenyan’s words, Bai Mengze paused her movements, then shook her head. She delivered another kick to Wen Ruo, who was attempting to crawl away, sending her sprawling back to the ground.

‘Even if I hadn’t acted today, I knew I couldn’t escape this,’ Bai Mengze thought.

‘Wen Ruo knows that man, so they must have had contact.’

Such a development was not entirely unforeseen by Bai Mengze.

‘Although that bastard surnamed Liang has returned to B-city, after the beating I gave him, he definitely wouldn’t let it go.’

‘Wen Ruo must be the person he bought off.’

However, the deed was done.

Bai Mengze had no regrets.

‘Unless they can lock me up for life, that Liang fellow shouldn’t expect an easy time.’

“You might not be afraid, but I am.”

Seeing Bai Mengze’s actions finally halt, Ji Wenyan disregarded the possibility of getting beaten to a pulp himself. He stepped forward, wrapped his arms around her waist, and moved her several steps to the side.

At that moment, Wen Ruo quickly scrambled towards Ren Hao, her face covered in blood. She clutched the hem of his trousers and spoke, her voice thick with resentment.

“Ren Hao, you *must* help me kill Bai Mengze. You know Liang Quan from B-city, right! He’s put out word that he’ll grant a wish to anyone who takes care of Bai Mengze.”

“What, Liang Quan! You mean Liang Quan, the heir to that five-star hotel chain?”

“Precisely, it’s him!”

Despite the severe pain racking her body, Wen Ruo felt an immense surge of joy after uttering Liang Quan’s name.

‘Bai Mengze is dead for sure!’

Liang Quan’s formidable reputation was certainly known to Ren Hao.

Therefore, he would absolutely make a move!

Not for anything else, but for Liang Quan’s single promise.

Ren Hao’s syrup company aspired to enter the national market, and with a word from Liang Quan, that would be entirely achievable.

“Good! In that case, Bai Mengze won’t be able to escape. I’ll call my uncle first and have him come over.”

Once Ren Hao confirmed Liang Quan’s identity, he immediately nodded towards the disfigured Wen Ruo. He then pulled out his phone, made a call, briefly spoke to his uncle, and promptly sent the location via GPS.

‘Before, I only thought Bai Mengze looked decent, but now, I realize she’s quite a valuable asset,’ he mused.

Liang Quan of B-city was a truly formidable figure, not to be trifled with.

Although Ren Hao was unaware of the feud between Bai Mengze and Liang Quan, this situation presented an excellent stepping stone.

It could significantly boost his syrup company’s reputation.

“What happened! Madam, what’s wrong?”

“What’s wrong with me? I was attacked! Quickly, catch that woman, don’t let her escape.”

Just then, the mall’s security guards finally arrived, belatedly.

The moment they spoke, they were met with Wen Ruo’s loud shouts.

At the same time, she pointed a finger at Bai Mengze.

Seeing Wen Ruo’s blood-soaked face, the security guards didn’t hesitate. They immediately moved towards Bai Mengze.

If such an incident occurred in the mall, and higher-ups investigated, they, the security guards, would be the first to suffer.

‘Who knows what this young woman eats to grow up so strong? How could she hit so hard, completely disfiguring that other woman’s nose?’ one might have wondered.

‘What immense hatred!’

“Ji Wenyan, let me go! This has nothing to do with you; don’t get involved in this mess.”

“It’s a little late to say that now.”

“I’m telling you very seriously… the power behind them is too formidable. Even you wouldn’t be able to contend with him.”

As the security guards rapidly approached, Bai Mengze did not make a move against the innocent. Instead, she spoke to Ji Wenyan.

Her voice was calm, devoid of any panic.

Clearly, Bai Mengze had already anticipated this outcome when she decided to act.

Hearing Bai Mengze tell him to leave, Ji Wenyan couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. ‘Just how powerful is this person’s background, that even I wouldn’t be a match?’ he wondered.

However, Bai Mengze was quite honorable.

She actually told him to leave first.

Watching the security guards rush over, and seeing Yang Shuang appear alongside them, Ji Wenyan suddenly smiled.

“Manager Yang, have the guards clear out the surrounding crowd. Make sure no videos taken get out. The mall is closed today; I’ll talk to my father about it tonight. For now, I have a few words to exchange with these two.”

“Yes, Young Master Ji.”
