Because of Wei Qingxuan, Wen Qi quit her job at the convenience store.
So after her last class today, instead of rushing off like usual, she stayed seated in the classroom, staring into space.
That mad dog Wei Qingxuan needed a leash. A muzzle, too. Otherwise he’d lose control at any moment.
And his so-called “coaxing” meant that, aside from class time, she had to stay with him constantly. He claimed he couldn’t be without her or he’d “get sick.” Wen Qi, watching how vigorous he looked, remained highly skeptical.
How exactly was she supposed to get away successfully? Hadn’t she already run far enough last time? Or had she not been discreet enough?
She folded her arms against the back of the chair and replayed her previous escape in her mind.
Too rushed.
Too reckless.
And she had underestimated Wei Qingxuan’s intelligence.
Maybe she needed to go farther. But she was still in school… that wouldn’t work.
No. It would.
She could apply to be an exchange student.
Huai Art had exchange programs. As long as she met the requirements, sophomores could apply.
Her clogged thoughts suddenly cleared. Her eyes lit up. It would only be about a year. That was enough time to plan everything carefully.
Just then, her phone rang.
—Qiqi, class is over. Why aren’t you out yet?
—Are you regretting it?
—Or did that dead dog cling to you again?
—Tell me who he is. I’ll make sure he never bothers us again.
—Qiqi, are you still ignoring me?
A while later, another message came:
—I won’t beat him into the hospital. I won’t threaten him. I won’t cripple him.
—I’m very gentle.
Wen Qi almost laughed from anger. Her reply was sharp,
—Mind your identity as a lover. Stop being noisy.
Wei Qingxuan seemed glued to his phone. He responded instantly.
—You ignore me, leave me outside alone, and constantly remind me that I don’t have a proper title.
—Puppy feels wronged.jpg
“…”
Had he lost his mind? Sending something that sickeningly clingy?
She sent back a rolling-eyes emoji.
—If I were your boyfriend, I’d be very generous. You could see whoever you want. I’d never cling to you.
The tone of a righteous main partner.
‘Keep pretending.’
If she ever made him her boyfriend, he’d drag her to get married the next second.
—My boyfriend will never be you.
Strangely, he didn’t argue back. Ten full minutes passed before he replied.
—As long as the one inside your body is me.
—I’m waiting at the school gate. I’ll warm the bed when we get back.
It felt like punching cotton. Her chest tightened in frustration.
The classroom was nearly empty. Only the teacher and two students in the front row were talking.
She furiously tapped at her screen, as if it were his face.
—I have a boyfriend. I don’t need you to warm my bed, understand?
Just as she was about to send it, the classroom door opened.
Jiang Tinghao walked in holding a stack of documents.
“Professor, here are the materials you wanted. I’ve sorted them.”
Professor Wu’s stern expression softened immediately. “Thank you, Tinghao. I’ve been swamped lately.”
“Happy to help.”
Jiang Tinghao’s smile was clean and gentle, the perfect senior straight out of a campus drama.
The student union president. Excellent grades. Handsome. Popular across campus.
Professor Wu flipped through the papers. “By the way, have you decided about the exchange program? The deadline’s close.”
“I’ll consider it carefully,” Jiang Tinghao replied.
Exchange student.
Wen Qi’s attention sharpened instantly.
After speaking with the professor, Jiang Tinghao approached her.
“Why haven’t you gone to eat yet? Waiting for Professor Wu?”
“…Actually, I wanted to talk to you.”
She needed someone to pretend to be her boyfriend. Someone who could stand against Wei Qingxuan.
She couldn’t shake Wei Qingxuan off for now. If she applied for exchange while constantly under his watch, she’d slip up sooner or later.
But if she really had a boyfriend as cover…
Looking around, Jiang Tinghao seemed like the most suitable choice.
Still, this was risky. And if he planned to go abroad, she’d have to find someone else.
“Talk to me?” he asked, surprised.
Her phone vibrated again.
—Qiqi, are you planning to run again?
A chill ran down her spine.
—No. I’m eating. If you’re in a hurry, you can leave first.
No reply.
She turned her phone off and looked up at Jiang Tinghao.
“Do you have time? Let’s talk.”
He hesitated only briefly.
“Okay.”
They went to the cafeteria’s café-style section. Couples sat around them.
Just as they sat down, someone nearby snapped a photo, with flash.
Jiang Tinghao politely asked the student to delete it. The student apologized.
Wen Qi refocused.
“I heard Professor Wu mention exchange. I’m considering applying too. Can I ask you about it?”
“I haven’t decided yet,” he admitted.
He explained about his younger brother’s poor health and the chance to work under a famous designer overseas. It would mean years abroad.
“So you’re giving it up?” she asked.
“Yes.”
Her shoulders eased slightly.
Then, after a long hesitation, she asked,
“Do you… have a girlfriend?”
He blinked. “No.”
Normally, that question would lead somewhere obvious.
But she only said, “Oh.”
He swallowed the response he’d prepared.
“Do you plan to find one?”
“Not particularly.”
She took a breath.
“Would you mind pretending?”
“…What?”
She steeled herself.
“I mean, would you mind pretending to be my boyfriend?”
Her phone vibrated again.
—Baby, three minutes. Don’t make me wait too long.
She stood abruptly.
“Sorry. I need to handle something. Please think about it.”
She grabbed her coat and ran.
At the school gate, under dim streetlights, a black sports car waited.
She climbed in silently.
The car was eerily quiet.
“I ate slowly,” she said.
The accelerator slammed down before her words finished.
Streetlights blurred into streaks.
He didn’t speak until they reached Xinghe Bay.
He carried her upstairs without a word.
Inside, he showed her his phone.
A campus forum post.
Photos of her and Jiang Tinghao.
Caption: “Is this the president’s girlfriend? A freshman, so pretty.”
Comments flooded in.
He scrolled.
“Specially waiting for him?”
She murmured, “Mm.”
Better to admit what he already knew.
He kept scrolling.
Then…
At 9:06 PM, Jiang Tinghao commented:
—Wen Qi is indeed my girlfriend. The rest is private. Please stop speculating.
Her heart dropped.
Her phone buzzed. A message from him earlier,
—I agree to pretend. We can discuss details later. Don’t worry about the post. I’ll handle it.
Wei Qingxuan’s voice brushed her ear.
“Girlfriend? Someone else?”
He bit lightly at her ear.
“Does he know his girlfriend is in another man’s arms right now?”
She stayed silent.
“Frigid?” he scoffed, seeing another comment about a “cold” freshman from Huai University.
“Qiqi baby, do I look frigid to you?”
“Don’t reply,” she grabbed his hand quickly.
He raised a brow.
“Then let’s test it.”
“Hey-!”
Wen Qi reached out and pushed him away. Wei Qingxuan was angry, but his movements remained slow and methodical.
He easily spread Wen Qi’s legs and reached inside.
So cold. Wen Qi trembled all over, only to be held even tighter by Wei Qingxuan.
He moved with deliberate calm despite his anger.
She trembled.
He tightened his hold.
“Qiqi,” he murmured softly, feigning concern, “why are you shaking?”
“You bastard.”
He smiled.
Wei Qingxuan laughed, “Looks like you’re feeling comfortable. You still have the energy to curse me, but it’s not enough.”
Wei Qingxuan had no choice but to invite Wen Qi to wake up with him.
He cupped the petals in his palm, fingers naturally spread, gently vibrating the edges of the petals, then prying them open to find the stamen.
After several deep searches, the stamen would release nectar.
“Enough, enough…” Wen Qi grabbed Wei Qingxuan’s hand, but couldn’t stop his actions.
The whole flower trembled.
Wei Qingxuan whispered, “Help me take it off.”
But he knew Wen Qi had no strength left, and probably didn’t even hear what he was saying.
Because his fingers were going in very deep and very quickly.
It didn’t matter, as long as she remembered him.
Wei Qingxuan lifted Wen Qi up a little, working with one hand while undressing with the other.
“I didn’t prepare a condom, so I’ll…insert it shallowly.”
The petals had endured the wind and rain, and she couldn’t judge exactly how shallow Wei Qingxuan meant.
But no matter the degree, it was deep for her, and it would be wider and more impactful than a hand.
This storm had no end; the waves continued to pound the petals, fierce and relentless, then gently caressed them before leaving, preparing for the next impact.
Not long after, Wen Qi collapsed into his arms, exhausted, and heard his satisfied laughter.
“Once you start,” he whispered, “there’s no turning back.”
“What do you mean?” Wen Qi’s body went limp.
He set her down gently.
“What flavor do you like? I’ll prepare next time.”
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw him pick up his phone again, but Wen Qi didn’t want to talk to him.
“Lemon, peach…” Wei Qingxuan tapped on the screen, then suddenly said, “Buy a floral flavor; it’ll take a long time to warm up next time.”
She buried her face in the sofa.
“Buy too many and you’ll end up impotent.”
He pulled her back into his arms.
“Don’t worry. The moment I see you, I react. Qiqi, I want to fall asleep inside you.”
“Try it and I’ll run tomorrow.”
“Wen Qi.”
“I mean it.”
They stared at each other in silence.
He gave in first.
“Just one kiss. Then hold me.”
She was too tired to resist. Wei Qingxuan put his hand on his waist and felt him pressing more forcefully against a certain place.
It was clear that this feeling couldn’t be resolved, but Wei Qingxuan just couldn’t bear to put Wen Qi down. He gently massaged Wen Qi’s sore wrist with his fingertips, then adjusted her lying position to be more comfortable, placing a pillow behind her back.
“I want some water,” Wen Qi said.
Wei Qingxuan held the water glass to Wen Qi’s lips, watching her slowly drink. He really wanted to suck on it, really wanted to taste it.
It would definitely be very sweet.
He then placed his hand on Wen Qi’s face, feeling her pulsating cheeks, and murmured softly, “How can my Qiqi be so cute?”
Later, as she drifted toward sleep, he murmured softly:
“Rest a bit. I’ll bathe you later.”
Then, amused by something on his phone, he asked lightly,
“Baby, want to see the new replies? They’re about to figure out our relationship.”
