“How did you do it!” Air leaned forward, her hands braced on my desk, her shock now unmasked.
Upon hearing my response, her composure shattered. Her body leaned in, as if her eyes were about to touch my Witch’s Heart. “Can I see it? I promise I won’t—”
“Sure,” I interjected. “After all, we have a contract, so I trust you.”
I handed over the Witch’s Heart, and Air carefully received it, treating it like a delicate piece of art.
“This decoration is…” Air began to ask, but she realized it wasn’t the question she truly wanted to know.
“It was given as a gift when I got my ID card. They also sell them. It’s roughly a few credits each,” I explained.
“Is that so… Then, how did you do it? I mean, achieving Witch’s Heart resonance in just one day? Didn’t you already practice meditation during your study time yesterday? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have asked such a question…” She seemed to be talking to herself, her gaze fixed on my Witch’s Heart.
“Um, could you please give me back my Witch’s Heart?”
“Oh, sorry. I was just amazed. I didn’t expect to find someone so talented in our class…” Air’s tone softened, and she even used the formal “you” before reluctantly returning the Witch’s Heart.
After I took it back, she revealed her own Witch’s Heart, which had no decorations and remained dull.
“I’m not talented,” I interrupted, feeling that if she kept talking like this, she might become obsessed.
“What?” Air snapped back to her usual self, realizing her own behavior. “But you shouldn’t be so modest, right? It’s—”
“Incense. There are places in the academy that sell incense,” I interrupted again. This information was quite valuable, especially for new students like us. In the right hands, it could be very useful, but I lacked the means to harness its value. I just wanted to survive.
“Not just incense, the academy has a special shop for selling supernatural materials, and there are many products that assist with meditation.”
“What?” Air seemed shaken. Then, she felt as if her efforts from yesterday had been in vain.
She had secured the position of class president, gaining more credits and striving to understand the dynamics of her class, remembering everyone as a basic requirement.
Based on yesterday’s events and her own knowledge, she categorized the class members into different levels. She even consulted with Qieluo and the homeroom teacher for advice on managing the class.
Upon returning, she felt ready to enter meditation and sensed the presence of the meditation space. The next step was to condense her spiritual power. She believed she would be the first in the class to achieve Witch’s Heart resonance, using this to solidify her class’s position and maintain her authority as class president.
At the time, she felt a sense of pride, but now, everything seemed like a distant dream.
“The academy has shops that sell supernatural materials, including incense, to assist with meditation. If the class president has some free time, she might discover many interesting places in the academy,” I said, stifling a yawn. “Um… I didn’t sleep much last night, so can I take a nap now?”
After explaining, I used the excuse of needing sleep to end the conversation. With the information I provided, she could figure out the rest on her own.
“Sorry, then you rest. I won’t disturb you anymore,” Air understood that I didn’t want to say more and didn’t press further.
After all, she had gotten what she wanted, even if the information wasn’t complete.
From her perspective, this classmate discovered that the academy sold supernatural materials like incense, bought a large quantity, stayed up all night to condense their spiritual power, and completed the Witch’s Heart resonance.
If she had enough incense, she was confident she could achieve the same in one night!
But she hadn’t considered this possibility, or perhaps her mindset had limited her. Looking at it now, she realized she needed to spend more time understanding the Witch Academy.
Moreover, knowing that incense could be purchased made her understand why the academy gave such a generous seven-day limit. Initially, she thought many students would be eliminated, and classes might be merged. Now, if incense and other aids could be bought, the number of eliminations would decrease significantly.
And she needed to speed up. She had already been surpassed by one person and couldn’t afford to fall behind anyone else, or her position as class president might become unstable.
Thinking this, she picked up her phone and found “Ren” in the group, adding her as a friend. This was something Qieluo had taught her: you could add someone as a friend in the group and then private message them. So now, she had Qieluo as a friend.
After adding her, Air looked at the white-furred creature by the door. She believed her judgment of people was accurate, and this person’s personality, along with their reluctance to interact with others, made her think that private messaging might work better than forcing a conversation, which could lead to dislike or even aversion.
Perhaps private messaging would have a better effect.
She could use this opportunity to ask about the location of the academy’s special shop. If she had to find it herself, it might take a considerable amount of time.
I lay on the desk, carefully tucking the Witch’s Heart into my waist, and felt my phone vibrate with a new message.
Curiosity got the better of me, and I opened the phone. What do you know? She had directly added me as a friend? It seemed like she had left but was secretly adding me as a friend on her phone?
I felt a bit numb, but this was also convenient. I didn’t like interacting with people directly, but chatting like this was manageable.
So, I accepted the friend request immediately.
The other person quickly sent the first message.
Air: “I’m sorry for contacting you this way. I was a bit out of line earlier, and I hope you don’t mind.”
Air: “Although our interaction was brief, I felt like you might not enjoy talking to others, right?”
Looking at the message, I realized she had correctly gauged my preference for not chatting with others. This class president had good people skills, unlike those who knew I didn’t like talking but insisted on doing so, just for their own satisfaction. This class president was a bit better.
