Lou Chen woke up ten minutes later.
Although things seemed extremely bizarre, he quickly did what he should do—free his team members from the inexplicably locked room.
The members looked confused, but fortunately, they quickly came to their senses and began doing what they should have done half an hour ago.
Yu Ziyu stood by with his arms crossed, completely detached, showing no reaction during this time, until Lou Chen chose to take the initiative to speak.
“Is there anything you want to tell me?”
He looked at Yu Ziyu standing before him, pulled at his glove, and calmly looked up to inquire.
“Or, is there anything I can learn from you?”
Before them, the open elevator door was tightly wrapped with yellow caution tape.
Its surface was covered in blood, like a twisted tunnel.
Against this eerie backdrop, the hastily drawn caution tape looked like some kind of evil-repelling talisman, emitting a nauseating aura.
Sticky, shredded flesh scattered sporadically on the steps of the elevator door.
It looked like red maggots writhing, spreading and climbing halfway down the corridor.
Scarlet blood beads were scattered on the walls.
As staff members walked back and forth, they seemed disturbed, sliding down the walls like dewdrops, making the environment and atmosphere even worse.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw several members’ faces turning pale.
And when they carried out a lump of red flesh, someone finally couldn’t hold it in anymore and rushed to the end of the corridor, leaning against the wall, covering the lower half of their face, dry heaving.
The environment was silent, yet carried a strange solemnity.
The sound of vomiting bounced off the walls several times, echoing above everyone’s heads, making the remaining members’ bodies even more rigid.
Only Lou Chen and Yu Ziyu were the two closest to the scene.
The two of them were even standing in the dried pool of blood, forming a sharp contrast with those who had retreated far away.
“What you don’t know can’t hurt you,” Yu Ziyu said.
Lou Chen sighed, looking at him questioningly. “You don’t find this amusing, do you?”
Strangely, Lou Chen’s tone wasn’t as aggressive as he had imagined; instead, it carried a trace of indulgence… and helpless acceptance.
As if he had finally realized what kind of personality the Yu Ziyu he was dealing with truly had, and his willful way of doing things.
Yu Ziyu showed an indifferent expression.
“That depends on how you define it.”
“I think my calf hurts quite a bit.”
Lou Chen lowered his voice, as if they were discussing some secret.
Although his tone was serious, it was obviously laced with a joke.
“You didn’t… didn’t kick me while I was unconscious, did you?”
Yu Ziyu gave him a strange look.
“This is what you want to ask?”
Lou Chen sighed again.
Then, he completely pulled the blood-stained white gloves off his hands, sealed them in a clear pocket, and softened his voice.
“What do you want me to ask?…
Why do you have that damn snake?
Why is that snake so obedient to you?
Why did you hide your strength before?
How exactly did you deal with Gluttony and make him escape?
Why do you hate me so much?”
“Most importantly, why do you deny ever being a player in the Land of Desire Amusement Park.”
“I can see you’re very dissatisfied.”
“And in the end, you won’t tell me any of it.
I won’t force you to do anything you don’t want to.”
Lou Chen said. “I’ve given up asking now.
But I know one thing very clearly—no matter what you’re hiding, you drove away Gluttony, saved me, and spared further casualties.
So, thank you.”
Yu Ziyu didn’t expect to hear these words.
“Thank me?”
He wrinkled his nose.
As his words fell, a clear “click” sounded beside them.
Bright white light flashed at the same time, capturing the scene before them.
Yu Ziyu immediately narrowed his eyes and looked towards the source of the sound.
Xiao He was startled.
Under their gaze, he somewhat awkwardly lowered the camera in his hand and muttered, “What?
I’m working.”
He raised the camera to show them the photo he had taken, which would later be placed in the file about Gluttony.
Then he defensively hugged the camera to his chest, as if Yu Ziyu might rush over and smash it at any moment.
“Your vice-captain isn’t planning to change careers, is he?”
Yu Ziyu turned to look at Lou Chen, crossing his arms calmly. “He looks just like a paparazzo, a bit like Zhang Yining.”
Xiao He protested, “Teacher Ziyu, you can’t badmouth someone right in front of them!”
After a pause, he muttered again, “Who’s Zhang Yining?
Is that an adjective?”
“My agent,” Yu Ziyu sighed.
Yu Ziyu rarely put on such a strange posture.
Seeing this expression appear on his delicate face was almost a bit unsettling.
Xiao He cautiously restrained his tone and said quietly, “I’m sorry for making you think of him…”
Lou Chen had to remind him, “He’s not dead.”
“…”
The corner of Yu Ziyu’s mouth lifted slightly.
This reaction immediately made Xiao He realize he had been tricked again.
He widened his eyes in shock, looking at the photographer incredulously.
“Now you know, there are things even worse than badmouthing someone right in front of them,” Yu Ziyu said, glancing at him.
Xiao He: “…”
“Your snake?”
Lou Chen suddenly asked, seeming to realize it had disappeared.
Considering how he had been taken down by Yu Ziyu, he shouldn’t have raised this doubt so late.
“This isn’t something to be seen in public,” Yu Ziyu said lightly.
“So, that means when it’s just the two of us, you can show me.”
Lou Chen smiled, thoughtfully.
“Do you think tonight works?
If it’s just this, would you be willing to let me see it?”
Xiao He let out a choked sound.
His face immediately flushed red when they both looked at him.
He said painfully, “…….I’m still here, Captain.
I don’t want to hear this.”
Yu Ziyu frowned at him, momentarily not understanding what he was talking about.
But Lou Chen obviously reacted quickly.
He immediately looked at Yu Ziyu and coughed, quickly moving past this conversation.
“How much do you know?
About what happened earlier.”
Xiao He looked very embarrassed.
He took a deep breath, glanced at his captain Lou Chen, realized he was asking him, so he put away his camera, ran a hand through his hair, and said somewhat dejectedly, “Captain, I just reported it.
None of us know what happened…
Not long after the alarm sounded, we were locked in the meeting room.
By the time we finally got out, it was already over.”
He was telling the truth.
When they heard the commotion, these relatively well-trained members naturally wanted to rush out immediately.
Even just to ask the captain what had happened, they absolutely wouldn’t sit comfortably in their chairs waiting for the situation to spiral out of control.
But what was shocking and confusing was that they simply couldn’t get out that door no matter what.
This group of them had items on hand.
Yet faced with that door, which should have been familiar and easily pushed open by internal personnel, they tried everything but were powerless.
They bumped around the room like headless flies, completely helpless.
“Hmm,” Lou Chen said, frowning as he pointed out the fact.
“I remember the door was broken.”
Speaking of this, he glanced at Yu Ziyu again.
He wouldn’t forget what happened when he and Yu Ziyu came out.
With just a light touch, the entire door lock fell off—so there was no reason his team members would be locked inside.
“Wait, Captain, didn’t you drive away that boss?”
Xiao He swallowed and asked hurriedly.
“It wasn’t me,” Lou Chen admitted.
Xiao He hesitated and, shocked, looked at the only other person left in the corridor, Yu Ziyu.
“Really…”
Then… only one possibility remained: Yu Ziyu had done it.
The crowd showed incredulous expressions because of Lou Chen’s tacit agreement.
Although they knew Yu Ziyu’s identity, they still found it surreal that he had done something like this so easily.
Lou Chen knew more.
He had used his venomous snake to force Lou Chen into unconsciousness, kicking him out of the event’s core, then faced the Land of Desire Amusement Park boss Gluttony alone, emerged unscathed, and didn’t even get a drop of blood on his windbreaker…
This shrouded Yu Ziyu’s image in a layer of mist.
“It’s true,” he said, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Although he was talking to Yu Ziyu, his gaze fell on the elevator not far away.
It emitted a stench.
In his mind, he could outline Gluttony’s appearance, could completely reconstruct what happened the moment the elevator door opened.
He thought to himself, next, they had to check what exactly Gluttony had done on the third floor, clean up this mess, and immediately seal the elevator.
If necessary, comforting the group of administrative staff who had fled earlier was also a priority.
Perhaps, he should prepare a vacation.
After all, they couldn’t risk letting any potentially mutated supernatural creature near the elevator.
The magnetic field reaction left by Gluttony was still very strong.
On the huge mechanical device, they pointed to the highest level—this was an intuitive problem.
It would make even someone carrying the faintest spiritual body become frenzied and become alienated.
Of course, the most crucial thing was, where had Gluttony escaped to…
Yu Ziyu watched coldly for a while.
Then, crossing his arms, he directly walked away.
He had his own things to do.
Back in the previous meeting room, he had received several calls from his agent, Zhang Yining.
He usually wouldn’t dare harass him like this, unless he had encountered something urgent.
He didn’t hear Lou Chen make a sound, but even if he had, he probably wouldn’t have cared.
He just put his hand in his windbreaker pocket and stroked Sloth, who had fallen asleep.
He had been slightly injured, so he had been quietly staying in his pocket.
Feeling Yu Ziyu’s finger, he wrapped around it, gently licking his fingertip with his forked tongue.
Gluttony had been too abnormal.
He absentmindedly teased Sloth with his finger.
Yu Ziyu frowned.
He hadn’t expected that guy to be so angry about Sloth’s betrayal of him… even disregarding the possibility of being killed himself.
But Sloth hadn’t held back either, so they had ruthlessly fought.
The outcome was obvious: Gluttony failed, but he also escaped.
But based on Yu Ziyu’s understanding, he would never let it go like this.
He would definitely wait until he recovered, then launch a sudden attack.
And this time, his primary target had become Sloth.
Yu Ziyu couldn’t accurately say whether this was a good thing or a bad thing.
Jealousy’s game field was already very conspicuous and annoying.
Yu Ziyu didn’t look forward to Gluttony interfering as well.
So, at least he hadn’t judged wrong on one point—Gluttony had indeed always been the nasty colleague Yu Ziyu himself disliked and felt most uneasy about.
A figure walked past him, almost brushing against him.
Yu Ziyu’s body paused.
He stopped, turned around, and watched a certain member who had been leaning against the wall vomiting earlier, walking trancelike towards the elevator.
He seemed fixated on that spot, stumbling straight and rigidly towards it.
Lou Chen was saying something to Xiao He and hadn’t noticed his staggering, almost eerie movement.
Oh.
That fast.
Yu Ziyu wrinkled his nose in disgust.
He paused, then resumed walking.
“What are you doing?”
Xiao He’s scolding voice came from behind. “You can’t…”
But the next moment, the figure before them abruptly flew back in everyone’s line of sight.
At the same time.
All the doors on this corridor banged open loudly one after another, as if an invisible violent wind had swept through.
Glass shattered due to an unknown force.
The lights above them flickered with a sizzle.
The ground shook, startling a flurry of panicked screams.
The figure flying through the air slammed heavily into the wall.
As the disoriented member who had tried to approach the elevator hit the back of his head on the ground, sliding down the wall and fainting on the floor.
All the abnormal movements finally quieted, and the air fell into a dead silence.
A few pieces of broken plaster fell on his head, making the final faint sounds.
Everyone’s gaze finally shifted away from that staff member and unanimously looked in one direction, eyes wide.
But they could only see the hem of Yu Ziyu’s windbreaker quickly sweep past.
His figure had already disappeared around the corner without a trace, leaving via the stairs without any hesitation.
…
“Yeah,” after a few minutes, Xiao He finally closed his gaping mouth.
A swallowing sound broke the silence.
He murmured the thoughts of everyone present. “Captain, good news.
I have no doubts now.”
