Chapter 22: Even Tentacle Girls Can’t Stop Them

“Okay…”

Lifen took the hundred-dollar bill Su Yuewei handed over and placed ten rings into Su Yuewei’s hand. She then trotted to the center of the game area and crouched down, waiting for Su Yuewei to toss them.

Su Yuewei gripped a ring, feeling its weight, and then threw it toward a doll.

Whoosh~

A gust of wind blew from Lifen’s hand; under the influence of a Breeze Spell, the ring was easily blown off course.

These white rings were extremely light and easily deflected, but Su Yuewei hadn’t come here to actually win at ring-toss—she was using the game as a way to open a conversation.

“Miss Yuewei, your skill is truly poor~ you’re just like those clumsy maids in stories!”

Lifen watched the ten rings get blown away and quickly moved to gather them up.

She knew what Su Yuewei wanted to say to her, but more than that… she hoped Su Yuewei would stay.

Sister Yuejiu was a good person, and Lifen didn’t want the employee Yuejiu had waited three years for to run away after just one day!

“However, if you want to thank me, it’s not impossible. In the future, once I have enough money, I plan to buy a magic broom. How about we have a magic broom race then?”

Lifen looked toward the magic broom leaning by the door and smiled at Su Yuewei.

She loved the feeling of racing through the sky—the solitude of high altitudes where she didn’t have to worry about the gazes of others, leaving all her troubles behind…

“Sure, but I have to make the Vampire Maid Bar successful first~ otherwise, your ring-toss game won’t make any money either~”

Su Yuewei turned around, humming a little tune as she skipped back to the bar counter to attend to the customers they had encountered today.

She picked up the menu resting on the counter and handed it to the two girls sitting there.

However, the two girls didn’t even glance at it before putting the menu back down.

“Say, can you help us restore some mana? Some evil witches cast a Grand Sleep Spell on us just now, making us waste quite a bit of magic power~”

They flashed wicked smiles, shared a look, and then propped their hands on the bar, kneeling on their chairs to lean in toward Su Yuewei.

Su Yuewei silently retreated a few steps, preparing to summon her magic broom.

Just as they stuck out their tongues, someone reached out, grabbed both their tongues, gave them a sharp tug forward, and then let go.

The two girls clutched their mouths and looked up at the girl who had grabbed them.

Yuejiu cast a Cleanse Spell on herself to remove the saliva from her black silk gloves.

She patted Su Yuewei’s shoulder. This time, Yuejiu wasn’t wearing a maid outfit, but an elegant black dress.

Since the shop now had a proper maid, Yuejiu, as the boss, no longer needed to wear the uniform herself.

Compared to a maid outfit, she preferred her old formal dresses; the elegant, dignified black silk fit her body perfectly, tracing her graceful curves.

“What would you like to drink? I’ll mix it for you~”

Yuejiu sat behind the bar and pushed Su Yuewei aside. Her maid was for her and Elumeng to tease; since Yuejiu wasn’t short on money, she wasn’t going to sacrifice Su Yuewei just for the sake of the bar’s popularity.

“Uh… give us a bottle of the most expensive stuff!”

Facing such a powerful presence, the two girls couldn’t help but lose their nerve. They grabbed the menu at random, ordered two of the most expensive mixed drinks, and completely lost their appetite for lingering in the bar.

After all, even witches feel shame when caught doing something bad.

“One ‘Stunning Deer Drink’ is three thousand dollars; that’s six thousand in total.”

Yuejiu elegantly placed two colorful drinks in front of the girls.

The surface of the drink featured a deer head with antlers carved from ice. Yuejiu then tapped the table with her finger, and “vegetation” made of colorful liquid sprouted on the surface, making it look like a deer reclining in a meadow to graze.

The two girls swallowed hard; an entire month’s salary had just vanished like water.

They pulled a stack of Witch Cash from their storage space and slammed it onto the bar, then held their drinks and began to sip slowly—since they had ordered the most expensive thing, they had to finish it, even if they were crying inside.

“Next time a customer acts like that, just take your broom and hit them.”

Yuejiu gently ruffled Su Yuewei’s hair.

The vast majority of maid shops offered similar services, providing guests with different levels of “hugging” or “closeness” as a primary source of income.

But she knew Su Yuewei wasn’t like those submissive girls who usually became maids. Su Yuewei’s values leaned almost entirely toward the Traditionalist Witches.

Traditionalist Witches didn’t reject closeness; they rejected emotionless, messy intimacy. It was very similar to Su Yuewei’s outlook.

“Mm.”

Su Yuewei nodded softly. She turned to look at the two customers drinking the Stunning Deer Drink—they had already slumped off their chairs and onto the floor.

Flushed and delirious, they began licking each other, mistaking one another for Su Yuewei.

“The Stunning Deer Drink injects a tiny amount of rejected, foreign-source mana into the body, causing a witch’s body to flush, feel dizzy, and become confused. At the same time, to counteract this mana, the body mobilizes its own magic, leaving them in need of mana restoration.”

Yuejiu sat calmly at the bar, polishing a glass.

A witch’s body was very specialized; pure physical damage had a greatly reduced effect on them.

For instance, falling from a height without mana involved might only result in minor injuries. Firearms were the same; they might cause slight harm to a normal witch but were useless against those at the Great Witch level or higher.

Similarly, ordinary poisons, diseases, and drugs had no effect on witches. To affect a witch, mana had to be involved.

Therefore, most normally brewed alcoholic drinks did nothing to them; a witch couldn’t get drunk on regular alcohol. Currently, the “alcohol” suitable for witches was made using foreign-source mana.

Witches weren’t the only creatures in this world that possessed mana.

Various magical creatures also had mana, though they were no match for witches. They could even be tainted by a witch’s mana and transformed into beautiful girls.

“Next time, I suggest letting your guests drink in a private room.”

Elumeng pushed open the door to the Vampire Maid Bar, only to be greeted by the sight of two girls embracing on the floor. She looked speechlessly at Yuejiu, who was chatting with Su Yuewei.

Lifen silently ran over, dragging the two girls toward an empty private booth.

“So? How does the academy plan to deal with those Hug-Save Society girls?”

Yuejiu rested her chin on her hands and smiled at Elumeng.

At the mention of this, Elumeng’s expression grew even darker.

“They escaped. To them, the Tentacle Girl cages were like toys; they nearly squeezed the Tentacle Girls dry and then fled right from their grasp.”

Tentacle Girls were magical creatures specifically responsible for transporting witches within the academy. It turned out the Tentacle Girls weren’t as “experienced” as the Hug-Save Society; to the society members, the encounter was far too bland.

But that wasn’t the main point. The point was that the academy had only sent Tentacle Girls.

Elumeng was now certain there was an insider for the Hug-Save Society within the academy—someone with enough authority to influence decisions and ensure only Tentacle Girls were sent to deal with them.

“Sigh… as expected~ the Grand Sleep Spell was active for so long. Even if there are fewer staff and students on campus during the holidays, there should have been a bigger reaction.”
