Yuejiu’s hand held a spoon, stirring it within a wine glass.
She knew that the only reason Elumeng had reached the scene was because Su Yuewei had sent a message.
If Su Yuewei hadn’t sent that message, Elumeng likely wouldn’t have even realized there was a problem over here.
The protection magic inside the academy could suppress enemies, but naturally, it could also suppress the teachers and students within the academy.
Though Elumeng didn’t want to admit it, she nodded slightly and sat opposite Yuejiu, ordering a plain lemonade.
“So the academy can’t be relied on for now; the only ones left to protect her are probably just you and me.”
Yuejiu breathed a sigh of relief; she was glad Elumeng wasn’t one of those stubborn old fossils from the academy. If it had been one of them, they would likely be accusing her of damaging the academy’s reputation.
She took out three tall glasses and poured golden milk, blue fruit juice, and strawberry juice into the bottoms, stirring them together with a spoon to create three brand-new drinks.
In truth, she still held quite a bit of goodwill toward Featherdome Academy City; every year, the academy trained many Great Witches who would go on to drive the world’s progress.
However, the academy was simply too vast, and it was inevitable that some loopholes would appear.
The Hug-Save Society had seized upon these tiny flaws and infiltrated the institution.
“Yuewei is the one I brought out, so naturally, I will protect her.”
Elumeng calmly sipped the lemonade from her glass.
Since she had chosen to take Su Yuewei away and make her a teaching assistant, she had to take responsibility for the girl’s life. Otherwise, how would she be any different from those who just wanted to treat Su Yuewei as a pet?
“Yuewei, that 300,000-dollar Transformation Debt is not just a debt, but also a promise. Until you pay it off, Elumeng will continue to shelter you and help you integrate into this world—that was the original meaning behind the creation of the Transformation Debt.”
Yuejiu’s words left Su Yuewei, who was standing to the side, feeling somewhat overwhelmed.
Su Yuewei never imagined that there was such a layer of meaning behind the Transformation Debt.
She looked up at Elumeng sitting at the bar, her expression complicated. There was both gratitude for Elumeng and a sense of guilt for her own behavior in falling behind on the interest.
“Alright, don’t put too much pressure on yourself.”
Elumeng’s hand rested on Su Yuewei’s hair; she looked tenderly at the little maid before her. Seeing the little maid squinting her eyes in enjoyment, she turned and winked at Yuejiu.
What a good sister! Even after “eating alone,” she was still helping her friend out with an assist!
Yuejiu nodded with a smile; isn’t it only right for sisters to help each other?
Lifen took in this whole scene, inwardly cursing these two old foxes for tricking Yuewei, who had only been a beautiful girl for a few days, and keeping her in the dark!
However, the original meaning of the Transformation Loan was indeed exactly as they described.
Think about it: you’ve just finished your transformation and become a beautiful girl.
With no one to guide you, how would you adapt to a new body or learn to integrate into this world step by step?
The Transformation Loan originally existed so that witches would be willing to take the initiative to help newly transformed witches settle in. It’s just that by today, the development of the Transformation Loan had long since strayed from its original meaning.
“However…”
Elumeng’s tone shifted, and she paused to clear her throat. She was about to make a difficult decision, one that went against Su Yuewei’s wishes.
“Yuewei, stay on my island permanently! On my floating island, you won’t have to worry about attacks from the Hug-Save Society, and you won’t need to learn any magic, because I will protect you and give you everything you need.”
She wanted to keep Su Yuewei within the floating island.
Because the floating island was protected by Elumeng’s and the academy’s magic, Elumeng could only ensure Su Yuewei’s eternal safety if she stayed there.
I…
Su Yuewei opened her mouth to refuse, only to find herself already surrounded by golden silk threads.
“Ugh!”
A streak of blood-red light flashed, and the golden threads condensing in the air were severed by Yuejiu.
Standing between Elumeng and Su Yuewei to separate them, Yuejiu could not stand by and watch Elumeng imprison her only current employee.
Furthermore, imprisonment and avoidance would not solve the problem.
“Face reality, Elumeng! The Hug-Save Society has long since infiltrated every aspect of our lives! They aren’t just little mice hiding in the shadows anymore!”
Yuejiu backed away with Su Yuewei and called Lifen over.
The two customers who had ordered the Stunning Deer Drinks earlier weren’t just carrying products made by the Hug-Save Society—they were students funded by the society themselves.
Lifen’s phone screen expanded, displaying the photos she had taken one by one before Yuejiu, Su Yuewei, and Elumeng.
Those two customers were carrying finger-strengthening potions, tongue-lengthening drugs, and so on.
“On the surface, these are potions from different pharmaceutical companies, but in reality, they all come from the Hug-Save Society.”
Bottle after bottle was placed on the bar, and Yuejiu told Elumeng to come and inspect them herself.
“Bloodthorn Flower…”
Elumeng sniffed them seriously, looking at Yuejiu in disbelief.
Yuejiu shrugged; whether Elumeng believed it or not, the facts were the facts.
These drugs were all developed by the Hug-Save Society for the purpose of “hugging.”
Their characteristics were fast results, long duration, and being harmless to a witch’s body.
But the Hug-Save Society’s drugs shared a common flaw: they would continuously increase the user’s craving for intimacy.
This could be seen in that train conductor and these two customers.
Their desires were laid bare before Su Yuewei’s eyes; they didn’t care at all about Su Yuewei’s thoughts, only about “hugging” a cute girl like her to satisfy their own urges.
“Even your floating island cannot guarantee Su Yuewei’s safety. If they can infiltrate the massive academy, a floating island with its own operating rules is even easier.”
Yuejiu closed the light screen and told Lifen to delete all the photos.
Floating islands used protection magic to guard the witches inside, but as long as it was magic, loopholes would inevitably exist.
And as long as there were loopholes, the Hug-Save Society could exploit them; it wasn’t a truly foolproof plan.
“Therefore, the real way to protect Su Yuewei is to give her the power to protect herself—isn’t that what you’ve always done? Teaching your students and passing on magic to them.”
Elumeng looked up at the vampire girl with a complicated expression, her gaze landing on Su Yuewei standing by Yuejiu.
“Then I can perfectly well stay on the floating island and teach her magic there.”
“Are you trying to make Yuewei follow the Traditionalist path? Compared to that, Su Yuewei is more suited for the Modernist path—at least, the speed at which she learned Absolute Obedience far exceeds that of a Traditionalist.”
Yuejiu and Elumeng stared at each other until Elumeng finally gave up her idea of imprisoning Su Yuewei for the time being, maintaining the status quo and allowing her to continue moving freely in the city.
“Yay!”
Su Yuewei happily dove into Elumeng’s arms, wrapping her hands around Elumeng’s waist and burying her head in her chest.
“Little Yuewei~ do you think Sister Yuejiu is better to you? Did you refuse me just because you wanted to stay by her side?”
Elumeng’s words made Su Yuewei freeze in place, and she turned her head to look at Yuejiu.
Oh no! It’s the deadly “pick one” question!
“That… you are both my wings! I love—”
Su Yuewei swallowed hard, but before she could finish her sentence, she was hoisted up by Elumeng and Yuejiu.
“Oh really? I just wonder if your small body can handle two Great Witches!”
