Chapter 62: An Unexpected Guest

Night fell over the Pacific Ocean.

The profound silence of the night was abruptly shattered by a fiery glow amidst the clouds.

A massive Airsoar HM379 passenger jet, plummeting from ten thousand meters, tore through the cloud cover.

It hurtled relentlessly towards the churning surface of the Pacific.

At this point, no matter how desperately the pilots fought, the impending tragedy seemed irreversible.

Yet, the cockpit crew refused to yield, making a valiant, final effort. To surrender now would condemn all 234 souls on board to become mere ghosts adrift in the vast ocean.

The captain continuously urged passengers to remain calm, assuring them the problem would soon be resolved. However, most passengers had already surmised the grim reality.

They could feel the plane’s abnormal, rapid descent. The fire at the tail and the damaged engine delivered a desperate message: the aircraft was falling, and a crash was almost a certainty.

In this era, a plane crash almost invariably meant no survivors, especially from such a high altitude over the boundless sea.

Passengers who understood their predicament were plunged into a deep quagmire of despair, a sorrowful atmosphere permeating the entire cabin. Some fumbled for life vests, grasping at a sliver of hope, though they knew it was almost futile.

Others silently closed their eyes, praying for divine salvation.

But the majority found themselves unable to control their emotions, erupting into uncontrolled screams and sobs.

“Ahhh, I don’t want to die!”

“Mommy! I’m scared!”

“Why on earth did I buy this ticket?!”

“This isn’t real! I must be dreaming!”

“I haven’t even deleted the files on my hard drive yet! AHHHHHH!”

As the plane hurtled ever closer to the ocean, both pilots and passengers closed their eyes in despair, resigned to their fate and prepared to embrace death.

However, mere seconds later, the anticipated impact and the aircraft’s disintegration never materialized. They couldn’t even feel the sensation of a high-speed descent anymore.

Confusion, coupled with an intense curiosity, compelled them to open their tightly shut eyes and peer out of the cabin windows.

The entire aircraft had come to an impossible halt, suspended hundreds of meters above the sea. The plane was enveloped in a warm, pristine, silver-white glow, and the roaring flames at its tail and engine had inexplicably vanished.

‘What just happened?’

Passengers and crew alike silently posed this question to themselves. Was this perhaps a deathbed hallucination, a final, peculiar vision before the end?

“Mommy, look! An angel!”

The excited cry of a small boy drew everyone’s attention. All eyes turned towards the mid-air space not far away.

A beautiful, ethereal maiden floated beneath the moonlight. Her silver-white hair shimmered even more enchanting under the moon’s glow, while the luminous golden patterns on her attire exuded both majesty and grace.

Overall, she radiated a sacred and solemn aura, as if an angel had descended.

Under the influence of this atmosphere, the stunned onlookers became surprisingly orderly. Those who had seen her stepped back, allowing others to witness their savior.

‘She saved us!’

This was the shared, singular thought in everyone’s minds.

Although they had learned much about this silver-haired maiden online, most of them had only considered Lin Ling ‘interesting.’ Now, everything was different. Lin Ling was their sole savior, their goddess!

“Ah-er!”

A sudden cry, like an eagle’s shriek, and a phantom silhouette drifting through the air, once again plunged the more than two hundred survivors into a state of panic and unease.

They had read enough newspapers and news reports to guess that this was a giant beast, a mobile catastrophe capable of widespread destruction.

But a few seconds later, after discerning the beast’s rough outline, their hearts were once more consumed by terror. What a terrifying leviathan it was!

Its wings blotted out the sky, and its body was encased in dark brown armor. Its massive, blade-like claws appeared capable of effortlessly crushing the plane.

Compared to its sheer size, the passenger jet seemed like a mere toy.

Despite knowing the silver-haired maiden was powerful, many doubted she could protect the plane and its passengers while simultaneously battling such a monstrous creature. At that moment, some even harbored the thought of wishing the maiden would abandon them to fight with all her might, or simply flee.

They found it hard to believe their own internal thoughts.

Then, another unexpected event occurred. The colossal bird showed no intention of attacking. Instead, after circling the passenger jet once, it hovered beneath it.

Subsequently, the silver-haired maiden waved her hand, and the passenger jet, still floating in mid-air, gently settled onto the bird’s back.

‘???

The giant beast was actually so obedient??’

‘Shouldn’t it be our enemy?’

A flood of confusion and bewilderment replaced their earlier fear, filling the passengers’ minds.

Many who had held the belief that the awakened beasts of Blue Star were humanity’s enemies began to doubt their own judgment. A portion of their ingrained assumptions started to waver upon witnessing this scene.

Watching the passenger jet, now carried by the Extreme Dust Bird, gradually move towards the continent, and sensing the shift in the passengers’ emotions, Lin Ling beamed with a satisfied smile.

‘Done!’

‘This time was also a great success!’

Since the appearance of giant beasts on Blue Star, the damage inflicted upon human civilization had been considerable. Coupled with the instigation of certain individuals, most humans harbored hostility towards these creatures.

This was far from ideal. In the future, they would need to coexist harmoniously, making a change in attitudes crucial.

Besides having the Zhang family conduct exhibitions with the Red Horned Beasts to show that some beasts were gentle, Lin Ling had also recently been traveling the world with individual giant beasts, participating in disaster relief efforts.

This increased the beasts’ public exposure and allowed people to see their practical uses. It also served to boost her own reputation—a truly wonderful outcome.

“Right, now then… it’s time to entertain an uninvited guest,” Lin Ling murmured to herself. Originally, she hadn’t intended for the Extreme Dust Bird to depart with the plane so quickly, hoping the passengers could take a few more photos.

However,

Since a guest had arrived, how could she, as the host, be impolite?

Setting aside her playful mood, her pupils began to glow golden, and silver-white spiritual energy accumulated around her. This was perhaps the most tense and serious Lin Ling had been since becoming a Battle Sovereign.

She knew very well that this visitor was no mere stray, like Qingfeng Immortal, but a genuine Battle Sovereign—an entity on her same level.

Although the Mother Goddess had left behind a protective barrier, theoretically, no outsiders should have been able to enter Blue Star for three years.

Yet, Bisika had managed to slip in, making it impossible to guarantee that there wouldn’t be other invaders. The crucial question was the visitor’s stance: friend or foe?

Under Lin Ling’s vigilant gaze, a multitude of azure spiritual particles materialized out of thin air in the night sky. They swiftly converged towards a central point not far from Lin Ling, eventually forming a green-haired man.

Observing the man’s appearance and sensing his unique spiritual energy, Lin Ling quickly identified the visitor.

‘It’s him??’

‘The Third Battle Sovereign, Elf Emperor Ifis.’

‘He’s like my fifth brother, isn’t he?’

‘Why would he be on Blue Star?’
