This is also the author’s first time putting a book on the shelves, eem, it’s a bit hasty, even sloppy, unspeakably so.
That’s right, dear readers, you must be surprised. At this moment, you’re probably all shocked and cursing.
“What? Only 120,000 words and it’s going on the shelves?”
“Aren’t you just here to harvest the leeks and then run?”
“Exactly, exactly. After all, this dog author has been releasing only one chapter or even zero chapters all along…”
What can I say? You’re right to scold me. Indeed, you are. Whatever insults you throw, this author will accept them.
There will be compensation with more chapters later.
This is entirely my own doing. The book has been open for two months, yet it only has 120,000 words. Not to mention you, my esteemed readers—even I want to slap myself.
Think about the messy operations I’ve pulled with this book. To rush updates before midnight, I ended some chapters hastily, and certain plots didn’t come out as I wanted.
Because I wasn’t prepared, the foreshadowing was untimely. Honestly, I feel the earlier story of Long Zhi was poorly written. Although she has important scenes later, the groundwork wasn’t laid properly at all.
And the compensation I promised, the updates after gift bounties—I failed to deliver on every single one.
So today’s 10,000-word update, plus the upcoming 10,000-word update after going on the shelves—a total of 20,000 words—are not considered paying off my debt. They are simply compensation from the author for letting you all down over these past two months.
Oh, I’m sorry, sumimasen!!!
(The author kneels down to apologize.)
This isn’t a loss of integrity, nor selling myself for subscriptions. It’s a heartfelt apology for truly feeling sorry to the readers, for not fulfilling the duties of an author, for not bringing you a better work.
Actually, someone in the group told me I might as well cross-dress, but I’ve already done that before, and my health hasn’t been as good as before for cross-dressing this year…
The author knows that a chapter-launch speech usually tries to play up misery to earn readers’ sympathy. But I feel I haven’t worked as hard as other authors, so what right do I have to play the victim?
Better to honestly kneel and apologize, counting my own sins.
As for the upcoming plot, it will be described along two lines: the protagonist Bai Jiujiu and the supporting character Tong Qiu, with timelines two hundred years apart and the present respectively.
During this time, characters mentioned earlier will play substantial roles in the later plot. The five core disciples of this book will also appear in Su Ling’er’s story. The author hasn’t forgotten why you all came.
If you readers have any wishes for cultivators or demons to appear later, feel free to suggest them. The author will set up a suggestion thread in the comments. Write down your ideas, and I will try my best to accommodate them within the story’s needs.
Most importantly, if there are contradictions or bugs in the plot, you must point them out.
(Just then, two figures passed by the kneeling Author Fungus. The Author Fungus saw something hanging from their waists and, like a werewolf spotting a dog bone, charged on all fours.)
Tong Qiu: “Wow wow wow, why do we encounter a wild author even when we just came out to admire the moon?”
Bai Jiujiu: “Stop talking, let’s run.”
Tong Qiu: “But don’t we both have cultivation? Why are we afraid of an ordinary person?”
Bai Jiujiu: “That’s the author! The author! Besides, this is a side story—a side story with infinite possibilities.”
Tong Qiu: “Senior, aren’t you the protagonist? Think of something quick!”
Bai Jiujiu: “I’m the protagonist, but I can’t rebel against the author!”
Tong Qiu: “Then we have to rely on you, senior!”
Bai Jiujiu: “No choice. With great power comes great responsibility!”
Bai Jiujiu: “I toss!”
(Bai Jiujiu throws a strange object into the sky.)
Tong Qiu: “Senior, what did you throw?”
Tong Qiu: “It’s a subscription!”
Duanxian (the author): “Hmph, I’m the author. In a side story, I’m invincible. This thing is useless against me!”
(As the Author Fungus spoke, they pounced like a puppy and bit the subscription.)
Tong Qiu: “Isn’t that super effective?”
Author: “Impossible!”
Tong Qiu: “It seems something fell off the author.”
Bai Jiujiu: “Don’t look, it’s integrity. Let’s quickly go back to the main story to enjoy the moon!”
Wishing everyone! Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! Reunion and togetherness!
