Join the ServerPrologue: The White-Haired Maid with Blazing Eyes
AD 2077, wasteland Earth, United States, New York, Queens, morning.
A man in khaki tactical gear was running like mad. He looked paranoid, gasping for breath.
It was as if something was chasing him. He had even thrown away the FNC assault rifle in his hands by the roadside, just to lighten his load and run faster.
“Huff, huff. Damn it, damn it!”
The man cursed as he ran, but his stamina bar was nearly empty. Running any further was useless.
“There were so many… so many of us…”
The man, almost out of his mind, spoke like a lunatic. Not long ago, he and others had allied to take down a common enemy. It had been useless.
Dozens of companions with assault rifles collapsed at first contact. Many never even got a chance to fire. The tactical M1911 held by two delicate hands kept sending bullets into their foreheads. Any small peek meant a headshot. There was no chance to fight back.
The snow-white girl outlined by spent shell casings in the air would leave an unforgettable memory for every enemy she defeated. Her blood-red eyes, as if burning, seemed like death itself.
Finally, his stamina bar hit bottom.
The man stumbled into an abandoned bar by the road. He closed the door, dropped onto a stool at the counter, and leaned against the wooden board.
“This… this is the only way out, right?”
Facing the fear of being killed for free, he drew his SIG Sauer from its holster. He racked it with a click and aimed the muzzle at the door. At this range, if she came, he would definitely have a chance to kill her. This was a real battlefield, after all. If he shot first, anything was possible.
The man held the pistol with both hands, eyes fixed through the iron sights on the door, not daring to look away. But whether from fear or low stamina, his hands shook badly, and the gun bobbed up and down.
Thud!
The bar door was forced open from outside, flying backward several meters. The man emptied his magazine at the door like an American cop. But as the door was stopped by bullets, he realized he had been tricked.
No one was behind the door. His pistol magazine was empty. So now…
Bang.
The distinctive sound of an M1911 came from the doorway. A .45 ACP round, like a precise surgical scalpel, shattered the SIG Sauer in his hand.
The man stared in shock at the flying fragments of his pistol. But as an experienced fighter, he reacted in seconds. His right hand went to the tactical knife sheath on his chest, ready for close combat.
He had reacted, but… too late.
A white-haired girl with blazing eyes rushed in from outside the door like lightning. Her small leather shoe, on a long leg in black stockings, kicked hard into the man’s chest. He let out a scream, let go, and slumped helplessly against the bar counter.
“Mm! I finally found you, strange and rude customer.”
The girl who rushed in politely lifted the hem of her maid dress and bent her legs in black garter stockings in an elegant maid’s bow.
Elegance and grace were a maid’s etiquette. That was certain.
“I didn’t think you’d find me, ‘The White-Haired Maid with Blazing Eyes, Esoia’.”
“Mm! I found you! So you know what happens next, right?”
The white-haired, blazing-eyed maid named Esoia closed her long-lashed eyes, puffed out her full, jade-like chest, and said with a squinting smile.
“I didn’t expect you to be so hard to deal with. So many of us against you, and we couldn’t take you down… I admit defeat. Shoot.”
The man spoke, then seemed to think of something.
“Before you shoot, can you grant me one wish? Can you call me ‘Master-sama’? I really want a maid to call me ‘Master’ just once. Can you grant me that one wish?”
“Well… of course! Ma-s-ter-sama!”
Bang.
Esoia pulled the trigger as she finished the last “ma.” A bullet flew from her M1911 and produced a pink hit effect on the man’s head. Then a “Death” pop-up appeared on the “corpse.”
“Thirteenth already? I didn’t expect this either. You could have gone to my café and heard me call you ‘Master,’ but as a maid, I can’t refuse. It can’t be helped.”
Esoia muttered to herself and looked up at the broadcast camera overhead.

“My god! My Esoia is amazing! Look at her, she’s already got thirteen!”
In a packed large bar, a yellow-haired man with a mohawk was excitedly talking to a man beside him wearing a skull mask.
“I know she’s strong, but since when is she yours? Don’t say every girl is your wife. There are foreign friends here. Don’t embarrass us Huaguo people.”
“Hey! Don’t call me out! Look at those Japanese players. Aren’t they the same? Look at their support flags: ‘Esoia I love you,’ ‘Dokushima Chizuru is my wife,’ ‘Miss Holy Maiden is the cutest’… Everyone’s like that, right?”
The yellow-haired man pointed at the Japanese players dozens of meters away. It really was like that. Some even wore ita clothes, out of place with the players in tactical gear in the hall.
“This… the Japanese are finished. We’re Huaguo people. We don’t copy those ‘Reiwa trash.’ Anyway, what’s the situation now? How many are still alive?”
“Let me see.” The yellow-haired man checked the list. “‘Holy Gun Nun, Alice,’ ‘Unbroken Swordswoman, Dokushima Chizuru,’ ‘Silver Wolf of the Urals, Monica’… not counting ‘The White-Haired Maid with Blazing Eyes, Esoia,’ there are still eleven players. If you bet wrong, you’ll lose even your bullet money tonight!”
“Yeah! But I bet on Alice to win. I believe her ‘Absolute Defense’ can beat Esoia’s ‘Maid’s Intuition,’ so…”
“Holy Gun Nun, Alice” was headshot and killed by “The White-Haired Maid with Blazing Eyes, Esoia” with an AK74M.
The bar’s display suddenly let out an explosive kill notification. This was the first titled player in the match to be headshot. The whole bar’s avatars immediately erupted.
“Nice!”
“No! My Alice!”
“Damn! Bro, your bullet money is gone!”
“What the hell! No! My Alice! No!”

Obviously, this was happening in a game world. Otherwise, wouldn’t it be some “XX Purge Plan”?
As human technology advanced, the dive VR technology from films and shows in 2020 was invented by scientists. Highly free dive VR technology, “RPG VRMMO,” was developed. Major game companies joined the VRMMO market and released many refined VR games.
In 2028, a globally networked tactical shooter VR game called “Bullet of Duty (BOD)” became popular worldwide. Set in a wasteland Earth with real PvP and PvE, it drew players from around the world into BOD. At one point nearly a hundred million players entered the game. At launch, the servers almost crashed. Players later joked that BOD’s servers were basically potato servers.
Time returns to the real world a bit earlier. Huaguo, Jiangcheng City, No. 19 High School, Grade 3 Class B, 5:30 p.m.
“Tonight is BOD’s global individual finals. Brother Ye, you’re so lucky you can go home and watch, but I still have to stay at school for evening self-study!”
Li Xiaoguang, sitting in the third row from the window, complained unhappily to Ye Wenyu behind him.
“Yeah! But I’m not interested in this kind of game. Also, Old Li, did you know? Tonight is history evening self-study, but the history teacher suddenly felt unwell at noon and went home!”
“What? So we don’t have to have class tonight? That’s great! Every time it’s the PE teacher who gets sick, but this time it’s finally the homeroom teacher’s turn!”
“Then I’m off, Old Li. See you tomorrow!”
“Okay, Brother Ye! See you tomorrow. It’s such a pity I can’t watch Esoia’s moves, though. If only Esoia could really appear in front of me.”
“Dream on, Old Li. Study hard. Don’t just play games all day.”
The boy named Ye Wenyu left his seat in the second row from the window, picked up his backpack, and left the classroom.
A few minutes later, he went down to the parking lot, got on his bicycle, and rode home.
About half an hour later, Ye Wenyu arrived at his front door. After a few knocks, the door opened. A well-behaved middle school girl opened it for him.
“Brother! You’re finally back! Mom already finished cooking. Let’s go eat together!”
“Mm! Okay, Ruoyu. Let’s go eat.”
After dinner, Ye Wenyu, asked by Ye Ruoyu for a princess carry, carried his little sister to the living room sofa. Then he turned on the TV for his cute imouto and switched to the live channel. The program airing was the pre-match player interview for the BOD individual finals.
“Hey, hey! Brother, do you know about the BOD individual finals? I’ve been following this for a long time. Who do you think will win tonight? I think of course ‘Tactical Maid Esoia’ will win? What do you think, brother?”
“Me?” Ye Wenyu said, drinking his cola. “I also think Esoia will win, because if Ruoyu thinks she’ll win, then she’ll definitely win! Right?”
“Mm hm! Brother is the best! If only Esoia could become my sister. I’d love to have a gentle, caring maid big sister to spoil me. That would be so nice!”
“Well… am I not good to you? Is this how you treat your brother?”
“No! Brother is very good to me. I just want a big sister too…”
“Then let’s wish Esoia victory tonight! My dear Ruoyu.”
Ye Wenyu patted his little sister’s forehead and stood up.
“I’m going to study. I wish you a wonderful night. Bye!”
“Mm hm! Bye, brother!”
Ye Wenyu returned to his room, locked the door, turned on the forced-entry warning system, took off his outer clothes, lay on the bed, and put on the VR headset.
“So then, I… I’m going to give my little sister a wonderful night. And aren’t I ‘The White-Haired Maid with Blazing Eyes, Esoia’?”
Time returns to now. Esoia, unaware that killing Alice had caused the bar to erupt, calmly swapped a new magazine into her AK74M.
“Let me see, is that the fourteenth? The other players… huh? Only two left?”
Shortly after leaving the bar, she saw a nun with her back turned. The holy nun’s habit she wore seemed to glow under the sun. Even a blind person could see her. So Esoia just took out her AK74M and tapped a headshot at long range, killing her instantly. Esoia herself couldn’t believe she got that kill.
I stood up, one shot, instant kill. What’s there to say?
“So that means only ‘Swordswoman’ is left? If I’m not mistaken, you’re here, right, Miss Swordswoman?”
“You found me? I guess ‘Maid’s Intuition’ is pretty impressive.”
In front of Esoia, from behind a low wall in a pile of scrap, a girl with a Nadeshiko face, long black hair, and a sailor uniform stepped out. Her right hand held a tactically modified katana, her left a Glock 18c with an extended magazine.
“Only you and I are left. Let’s finish this quickly, honorable Miss Swordswoman.”
Esoia put her AK74M back into storage, smiled a maid’s smile, and gripped two tactical M1911s from under her skirt.
“Yes! Let’s decide it this time! If you lose, you’ll be my personal maid in the game!”
“Well… okay! But please beat me first, otherwise forgive me if I can’t from… what’s happening?”
Just as players worldwide were watching the strongest player appear, a white halo suddenly spread across the sky above the entire game. All players, including Esoia and Dokushima Chizuru, were blinded by the white light. They couldn’t see anything.
No one expected that this in-game event would forever change the original trajectories of the game world and the real world.
Countless fates, originally branching like twigs, were bound together in this moment. A new world was quietly unfolding.
