Chapter 25: Quarantine measures

The retired Awakened, Ryu Zion.

When you think about it, they were a really strange person.

They had many connections and had made more money than you could imagine.

Even the S-rank Awakened, who are considered the best among the Awakened, knew them.

Why would that be?

Isn’t it more likely that they trust their skills than they simply know them as an Awakened of the same nationality?

The reason was simple.

Ryu Zion was a truly famous powerhouse in the Awakened industry.

Of course, it’s not just their skills, but they’re also famous for having done all sorts of things to earn money, which led to a lot of big accidents…

But the reason they’re famous is because the person who caused those accidents has great power.

What’s more famous than anything else is…

Ryu Zion’s accomplishments and…

Their abilities as an Awakened.

With a single blow, a person who blew off the arm of a monster that was a member of Nine Star.

The driving force behind their ability to accomplish such a feat was the special ability of the Awakened called Ryu Zion.

As an Awakened, Ryu Zion’s ability is nothing more than the ability to summon a single spear.

However, that one spear was more special than anything else.

It was an invincible blue flash that completely canceled out any special power, ignoring and piercing the opponent, no matter what ability they had or how strong they were.

It was called, Mistiltein.

It was a blow that pierced even the most brilliant nine stars.

And Ryu Zion, who had come to their senses, immediately called out the spear.

“What kind of crazy monster is that?!”

It was a strength of a different dimension.

It was a strength that was even greater than the nine heavens they had witnessed, and it was a strength that had reached a level far higher than that.

Ryu Zion instinctively knew.

That was an existence that could not be defeated no matter what they did.

If something like that was targeting them, it would be normal to run away immediately.

Ryu Zion’s personality was like that from the beginning.

A person who valued their own safety and their own self-preservation more than anything else.

That was why when the two monsters came to their house, they were able to abandon their house and run away without any regrets.

There was nothing around there in the first place, and there was no way they could survive against those monsters.

Right now, if they wanted to run away, they could.

A strong person who could draw the monster’s attention was drawing the devil’s attention.

What better time to run away than this?

“Oh, Master, just do it properly and run away…!”

But Ryu Zion didn’t do that.

They had retired and become listless, but they didn’t show any signs of that right now.

It couldn’t be helped.

Ryu Zion’s pride as a person couldn’t tolerate throwing away that connection like an old shoe and running away in front of someone who risked their life for them.

“What kind of monster does that have to be…”

Ryu Zion gritted their teeth as they looked at the red sun falling from the sky.

It was a sight that seemed like the end of the world, but they still believed that they and their master could make room to run away together.

They had to believe.

If they didn’t believe it, their heart would break before they could even throw the spear.

The person said no more.

Instead, they gritted their teeth and put strength into the hand holding the spear.

And then, a blue flash was thrown towards the red sun falling from the sky…

Whew!

The blue flash pierced the red sun.

Even the demon, Sargatania, who was falling towards René Clarent along with the flames they had conjured!

“Th, that thing…?!?!”

[Whew, kuaaaaaaah!!!]

The sun pierced by the flash subsided as if it was being sucked into a black hole, and the demon with the spear stuck in its body fell to the ground.

[This, thing…?!]

At best, a single spear was stuck.

It was amazing that it had pierced their solid body, but it was just a wound that could be quickly removed and quickly healed.

It should have been that way.

But it wasn’t.

‘Recovery…is slow…?’

The power contained in the spear was blocking even the demon’s regenerative power.

And beyond that, the power contained within the spear was eating away at Sargatania.

Sargatania finally realized.

That what was stuck in their body wasn’t just a simple spear.

The spear stuck in the demon’s body, fed by the demon’s power, finally blossomed properly.

[Kuaaa…

Memories of Zion forcibly came to the demon’s mind.

Because the spear embedded in their body was stimulating their memories.

Paaaa…

In all the times they had used it, they had never once created such a shape…

In fact, it was a simple story.

The owner of the spear, Ryu Zion, simply did not know the full power of the spear.

The spear was Ryu Zion’s ‘time!’

It contained not just the life they were living now, but the lives they had lived up to that point.

That’s why it’s said that it can only be used on someone who knows their past life to exert its full power.

It must be like a so-called great yandere decisive weapon, right?

Crunch!

However, even that kind of weapon couldn’t hold off the demon’s obsession for long.

[For the first time in a while…I could only think of pleasant things.]

The firmly grown green tree began to shake in accordance with the demon’s movements.

[You didn’t think I could hold it off for long with something like this, did you, Zion!]

The demon moved little by little, shaking the Mistiltein branch that had pierced its entire body with only its strength.

[I ran to see you, and now it’s right before your eyes! Do you think I can hold it back with something like this-!!]

Crunch!

Crunch!

Crunch!!

An eerie cracking sound was heard repeatedly, the demon’s body moved little by little, and the tree shook.

Zion and René immediately realized that it wasn’t a situation where they could just stand still, and their facial expressions hardened.

“I think it would be better to jump in quickly, Master? I don’t think I can last long.”

“No, that monster will be chasing us faster than we can run away.”

“You’re not suggesting we just sit still, are you? Is there a way, Master?”

“Yes. If it’s a monster that we can’t deal with, we should just blow it away. It’s impossible to deal with. Just lend me one of your swords, disciple.”

“Understood. You have to trust Master.”

Zion took out a spare sword from the subspace and gave it to René as is.

[Ha! You can’t do anything to me with that…]

“You know too well. That’s why I won’t cut you, but something else.”

René’s sword swung again, drawing a graceful trajectory.

René Clarent’s sword, the ultimate form of the Wolha Nanken, the Breaking Moon.

A defenseless, supreme slash that cuts through space itself.

It was unleashed once again by René’s hand.

Although it was hard on their body to hold Sargatania back, it wasn’t to the point where they couldn’t swing their sword one last time.

And if they didn’t want to die, it was normal to swing their sword in this situation even if it was hard.

However, the second time that the Moonlight spread out, it wasn’t Sargatania’s neck that they were aiming for.

What they cut was not the demon, but the empty space behind the demon.

What they were aiming for was not to kill the demon on the spot, but to cut the space and throw the demon through the gap, completely escaping from this space!

Zzz!

The space that had split open as if trying to bury the cut space showed tremendous suction power and sucked in the demon right in front of its nose.

[Ugh…! This kid… you’re pretty clever…!!]

“No matter how much I thought about it, I couldn’t come up with a way to surpass or kill you. So I had no choice but to chase you away in this disgusting way.”

[Ziooooo00000000000n!!!]

The demon’s body disappeared into space, and at that moment, Mistiltein returned to its master, the demon’s strong hands supporting the closing space with their strength.

“No, that’s…?”

While Zion was dumbfounded, the demon stuck its face out and looked at them, saying,

[Zion, Zion Goetia! Tell me, what is my name!]

“…Sargatania.”

Zion hardened their face slightly but answered the demon’s question properly.

[There must be more! The names you and I shared! The memories of that day!!]

“Sargatania, Rosengarten.”

Sharing a name means promising eternity.

That day, in a field where wild roses were in full bloom, the demon gave the contractor the name Goetia, and the contractor gave the demon the name Rosengarten after seeing the field of roses.

The name Glashalas was the name of a slaughter demon who had destroyed all of Hell, so there was no way Zion would know.

The name wasn’t important to her in the first place.

The only name that mattered most to her was Sargatania Rosengarten.

The name she shared with her contractor was the only name that represented her.

[That’s enough, contractor.]

Remembering the name meant remembering the promise of that day.

That’s why the demon couldn’t hold out any longer and laughed as she let go of her hand without any regrets.

[The contract between you and me has already been revived. Zion, this is only a brief farewell… I will come find you again.]

Even if they fall across space, it’s only somewhere on Earth.

Although René connected them to a remote area where there are no people.

So Sargatania smiled and disappeared into space without a second thought.

Anyway, since I’ve already found it, time is running out.
