Chapter 2: Lucky (Part 1)

“Ah, time is dragging on so f*cking slowly.”

The part-time worker slurred, sprawled out on the counter.

He was bored.

Really bored.

He was here to earn money, but on days with so few customers, time just wouldn’t pass.

Actually, it’s a universal rule that time doesn’t pass while working part-time.

But, no matter how much he tidied up the shelves or checked the cigarette stock, the hour and minute hands of the

wall clock didn’t show any meaningful movement.

It really felt like they weren’t moving even an inch.

“Sigh,If only some customers would come.”

It wasn’t the sweltering summer, but rather the slightly cooler autumn, so why were there so few customers?

Because it was a store tucked away in a residential area, not a bustling street, there were occasional days like this, but

today was particularly bad.

“……Should I watch a stream?”

The part-timer barely lifted his sluggish body and picked up his smartphone.

He quickly tapped on the streaming app ‘Tricky’, and as usual, clicked on the VR game category and entered a

streamer’s room.

Simultaneously, a scene of a magnificent battlefield was displayed on the screen.

The part-timer’s eyes sparkled.

“Oh, they’re raiding right now.Good, good.Raids are the best for killing time.”

On the screen, dozens of people were battling a giant dragon.

The dragon breathed fire, and people quickly evacuated while launching sword strikes and magic.

It was an amazing video.

Thanks to the incredibly realistic high-quality graphics, it felt like watching a scene from a blockbuster movie.

It even felt like watching a real-life video.

“Wow, Arfellium really has amazing graphics.

As expected, the world’s number one game is different!”

Watching such high-quality video, time flew by.

After focusing on the broadcast for a while, the part-timer muttered regretfully.

“Damn, if only I had the money to buy a VR device, I’d be wrecking Arfellium right now.”

VR devices weren’t cheap enough for an ordinary college student to easily purchase.

Even the lowest-grade VR device usually cost around the price of a small car.

Therefore, ordinary people had no choice but to vicariously satisfy themselves by watching streamers’ broadcasts,

like this part-timer.

[“Ah, finally, phase 2 is over! I can finally see the dragon’s final evolved form!”]

[“Ah, Mango bro! Stop talking nonsense and give me a heal, heal!”]

The part-timer, watching the streamer engaging in fun banter and fighting the dragon like a hero from a myth, sighed again.

“Ah…… so f*cking envious.

He’s getting a lot of donations.

If only I had a VR device, I could easily get 1 million subscribers on Mutube…….”

At that moment.

-Ding!

The door of the convenience store opened with an electronic sound.

The part-timer quickly pressed the volume button to lower the sound of the broadcast, and greeted with a full smile

on his face.

“Welcome!

Eight-Eleven.”

And then, that smile froze.

‘Huh?’

He doubted his eyes for a moment.

He saw something that made no sense.

‘A, a celebrity?’

The customer who entered was a woman.

A gorgeous, stunningly beautiful woman.

Her jawline was sharp yet displayed a refined elegance.

Her eyes were heavy and mysterious, like the deep sea.

Her nose was straight, and her lips were attractively red.

Glossy dark blue-black hair flowed with her confident gait.

A beauty seemingly crafted from literary expressions.

The part-timer, overwhelmed by her beauty, stared at the customer with his mouth trembling.

‘D, drama?

Movie?

Are they filming something around here?

But I haven’t heard of anything like that?’

Actually, if he thought about it carefully, it was impossible.

Even if there was filming he didn’t know about, there was no way such a woman would come to a convenience store

alone, wearing only Adidas sweatpants.

At the very least, she would come with her manager.

It was common sense that anyone could think of, but the part-timer’s brain was overloaded and couldn’t reach that point.

He just stared blankly at the customer.

“Checkout.”

Is this what a voice like jade beads rolling on a silver platter sounds like?

It was a voice that made him understand the ambiguous literary expression.

The part-timer, appreciating the voice with a dumbfounded expression, soon came to his senses and realized his duty.

“Ah, ah!

Yes, yes!

Checkout, checkout, right?”

“Yes.”

Hurriedly flustered, he looked down at the counter and saw Tang Myeon, a popular product from a certain ramen company.

‘Even people like her eat this.’

Realizing the universal truth that everyone is the same (?), the part-timer quickly scanned the barcode and

completed the transaction.

“Eight, eight hundred and fifty won.”

At those words, she silently inserted her card into the reader.

Her white, slender fingers were strangely alluring.

The part-timer gulped, then, startled by the fact that he had swallowed his saliva, glanced at the customer.

Fortunately, the customer didn’t seem to care whether the part-timer swallowed his saliva or stared at her.

It was probably because she was used to receiving this kind of attention.

[Payment complete.]

At the POS system’s notification, she pulled out her card and walked out of the convenience store with a light gait.

The part-timer, staring at her back, could barely regain his composure about three minutes after she had completely disappeared.

“Wow, sh*t.

She’s so f*cking pretty.

Is she an actress?

An aspiring actress?”

It was unknown.

But the important thing was that she probably wasn’t there for filming.

‘That means she lives around here.’

The part-timer suddenly began to feel a strange affection for this convenience store that didn’t even pay minimum wage.

“I hope I can see her again…….”

Maybe he’ll ask for her number next time.

Or at least a picture.

It would be great if she came to buy alcohol.

He could check her ID.

Lying on the counter with dazed eyes, the part-timer suddenly stiffened at a thought that came to him.

“But, that handle in her pocket…….

Wasn’t that a kitchen knife?”

Nah, no way.

The part-timer soon forgot the ridiculous imagination.

Why would such a super-beauty carry a kitchen knife?

Unless she’s crazy.

Mission accomplished!

“Humming.”

She felt excited after completing a rewarding quest.

Sung Shihyun hummed a tune and walked home with light steps.

‘Since I bought ramen, now I can eat.’

Of course, she couldn’t buy kimchi, a Korean staple.

Because she didn’t have much money in her account.

‘Really, only 1 million won.’

Of course, 1 million won isn’t a small amount of money, but considering the days to come, it’s really nothing.

‘First…… I need to earn money.’

But how?

She couldn’t think of a way.

Actually, her head wasn’t working well because she was hungry.

Sung Shihyun furrowed her brow and tried to overwork her poorly functioning brain, but soon gave up thinking.

“I don’t know.

I’ll think about it later in bed.”

Anyway, she had 1 million won, so she had plenty of time.

Couldn’t she last at least a month?

‘……If the rent is already paid.’

Actually, she needed to find out about that part.

She knew too little now.

Didn’t she even have to re-register the house password because she didn’t know it?

‘I thought it would be my birthday, but it wasn’t.’

Fortunately, the bank account, card PIN, and phone PIN were her birthday.

If these were different, she would have been shocked and unable to live in this world any longer.

“First, I need to find some information about myself in this world.”

And get a job.

Of course, she was a little worried.

The worry was about whether she, who had been slicing up the Demon King’s army in another world for several

years, could work properly.

‘Still, I was a professional (hero), so shouldn’t I be able to find a job easily?’

……While boosting her own confidence, Sung Shihyun recalled the scene she had seen at the convenience store

earlier.

‘……That was a game, right?’

The video the convenience store part-timer was watching on his smartphone.

At first glance, it looked like a movie, but she knew.

It was a personal broadcast.

And what the personal broadcast streamer was doing was definitely a game.

A virtual reality game.

Wow!

A virtual reality game!

Beating up scarecrows!

‘Hmm.’

Apparently, there were virtual reality games in this world.

Or maybe it was created while she was away in the other world.

‘Virtual reality game…….’

When she was young, she wanted to play virtual reality games so much because of the rental store novels, but it was a

little strange that such a thing was created in reality again.

‘I wondered if it would come out before I died…….’

The past Sung Shihyun really loved games…….

To be honest, her heart didn’t flutter much now.

Was it because she was too old now?

No, rather…….

‘A virtual reality game console…… it must be damn expensive.’

It seemed like it was just because she didn’t have the money to buy it.

If she had the money to buy a game console, she would rather buy another meal with that money.

With the money for a game console, how many bowls of soup and rice……!

“Sigh.”

She felt like a boy whose dreams were blocked by the wall of reality.

Ah, she’s a girl now.

Anyway.

‘I can’t do anything, games or anything, because I don’t have money!’

To be unable to enjoy dreams and hopes due to adult circumstances.

It was truly a sad thing.

Sung Shihyun sighed again and trudged home.

Then, suddenly.

She saw something.

“…….”

[Lotto Hotspot]

[5 First Prize Wins!]

[13 Second Prize Wins!]

“…….”

Sung Shihyun quietly opened her wallet to check if she had any cash.

And then she walked briskly into the store.

“……10,000 won worth of automatic, please.”

The lottery store seemed like fate.

Sung Shihyun felt some kind of cosmic energy.

‘Well, it probably won’t work anyway.’

But you never know!

……If she wins, she’ll buy a virtual reality game console.

-Beep!

[Congratulations!]

[Total winnings: 77,650,087 won]

“Eh.”
