Chapter 0: A Slightly Unusual First Meeting

About 10 years ago, when I was a 6-year-old child with many questions, I dragged my diplomat parents to a place called the Japanese Embassy in Korea near my house.

The reason was simple curiosity.

I happened to see a history book that said that Japan fought a lot with our country, and I happened to find out that the Japanese were at a place called the Japanese Embassy in Korea.

So I wanted to go there myself.

Thinking back now, it was a really absurd reason, but what would a 6-year-old child know?

At the time, I had no idea what my parents’ job as diplomats was, why there would be Japanese people at the Japanese Embassy in Korea, or that my parents taking me there would be a great diplomatic discourtesy, so I just followed them.

And there, I happened to meet a child my age.

Her name was Fujiwara Aki.

She had light pink hair that I had never seen before, and bright blue eyes that looked like jewels.

Perhaps because of that, my childish curiosity was triggered and I walked forward without fear.

“Hey, hello.”

I put aside my worries about not being able to understand Korean and just approached the pretty girl and spoke confidently.

“I’m Korean, but are you Japanese?”

Of all the people I had met when I was six years old, she was the only one with the most mysterious and exotic vibe.

The first thing she said when she looked at me was, “Hello.”

“Are you from Bukhan or South Korea?” “… ….Huh?” … … It was a rather odd question.
