“Where is this?”
I opened my eyes groggily.
It wasn’t the room I was familiar with. This place… was completely foreign.
“Saintess! There’s no time left! We have to go now!”
A slightly androgynous female voice rang in my ears.
Standing before me was a tall woman, over 170 cm. A broad longsword hung at her waist.
Her sharp-looking face had skin like smooth jade. She wore silver armor on her chest, but her waist was unprotected—
likely to allow better movement. A skirt-like armor hung around her hips, and she wore combat boots. Her long hair was
tied into a ponytail, and she gave off an aura of sharpness just by standing there.
“You’re…”
Before I could finish, she grabbed my arm.
“This is… my hand?”
I looked down. What I saw was a wide white robe with golden embroidery on the cuffs. The hand she grabbed was coming
out from this robe.
“Wait a minute! Who are you?! Where am I?! What are you people trying to do?!”
The questions burst out from deep within me. The grand, luxurious hall fell completely silent.
Even the flustered nuns froze, exchanging nervous glances.
The knight woman in front of me also looked at me in shock.
“Saintess, this is Glorious City! I’m your guardian knight, Hilda! Please, no more jokes—there’s no time! The Demon
Army is already at the gates! If we don’t leave now, it’ll be too late!!”
Demon Army?
Saintess?
At the gates?
Wait, why does this all sound so familiar?
I vaguely remembered… wasn’t this the exact setting of that 18+ legendary game I just bought from a Japanese reseller
—“The Tragedy of the Holy Maiden”?
Wait.
Hold on a second!
No way… could it be?
I looked behind me at the nuns. If they’re calling me “Saintess,” then I should hold quite a lot of authority here, right?
“Bring me a mirror.”
“Your Highness, why do you need a mirror now?”
The knight’s face was full of urgency. The Demon Army had already broken through the border defenses and were at the
city gates without giving anyone time to react.
Glorious City’s defenses were thin. If we didn’t leave now, we’d lose our chance!
Hilda suspected that Duke Simmons of the western border had betrayed them. Otherwise, how could such a large force
have entered without a single warning?
As the guardian knight, it was her duty to protect the Saintess. As a sacred knight, she absolutely could not allow the pure
and holy Saintess to fall into the hands of the Demon Army.
The Demon Army’s cruelty was infamous—especially toward women.
No matter the race—elves, dwarves, humans, or others—once captured, they would be subjected to unspeakable
humiliation.
Sometimes they were even transformed by strange potions into… shameless, indescribable things!
Hilda would rather kill the Saintess with her own hands and then take her own life, than let that happen.
“The Saintess must never fall into the hands of the Demon Army!!”
It wouldn’t just be a disgrace to her as a guardian knight—it would be a devastating blow to the entire Holy Church.
But Hilda didn’t know that the Saintess she revered… had already been swapped with someone else.
“This is… me?”
The girl in the mirror had her mouth open in surprise. From the shape of her lips, the Demon Army—or at least the
beastmen—would surely be satisfied.
“Saintess! What exactly are you looking at!?”
Hilda asked urgently. Every second counted now, but the Saintess was completely unresponsive.
No one could tell what she was thinking at such a critical time.
I slowly reached out and touched the cold surface of the mirror. The girl inside mirrored my actions.
Our fingertips met on the glass.
Her long silver hair flowed like starlight, reaching down to her waist. Her red eyes shimmered faintly. A tall nose, thin
lips… This perfect, beautiful face had both the elegance of the East and the three-dimensional features of the West.
The girl in the mirror looked like a masterfully crafted work of art—like she had stepped out of a painting. She was perfect
from every angle.
“If this girl were my wife, my life would be complete.”
That thought popped into my head, along with the strong desire to hold her close and cherish her.
But reason kicked in: this was a mirror—and the perfect girl in the reflection… was me.
“Saintess?”
Hearing the voice near my ear, I snapped out of it and looked at the knight beside me.
She looked incredibly anxious, clearly at her limit. Her voice was getting louder.
“Saintess!! This is no time for jokes! The Demon Army is at the gates—if we don’t escape now…”
She couldn’t finish the sentence. She didn’t want to let filthy words enter the Saintess’ ears.
But suddenly, everything clicked in my mind. A once-fuzzy memory became crystal clear.
“This face… this is that character from the game. One of the Seven Saintesses!”
I was utterly shocked.
“The Tragedy of the Holy Maiden”—a masterpiece among adult visual novels, hugely popular in the LSP (lewd smart
person) community.
There was no denying it—it truly was a masterpiece. Storyline, characters, visuals—everything was top-tier.
The player’s mission: lead the Demon Army, conquer seven kingdoms, and capture seven saintesses.
And this face… matched my favorite one out of all of them.
Her name—Luo Li Saint Salia.
What kind of cursed “surprise” was this?!
This wasn’t a blessing—it was pure horror!
I’d rather die than be tortured by demons and turned into some shameless, unmentionable creature!
“No! I can’t just sit here and do nothing! I need a plan!”
If I followed the original game plot, the next scene was me being tied up in front of the city gates and publicly… well, you
know!
The story! Yes—the storyline!!
I forced myself to calm down, rubbing my fingers together out of habit while thinking. My fingertips felt soft now—not
like before.
“The Demon Army… I remember this part! They didn’t bring any supplies! They came straight across the
desert! They can’t siege the city for long!”
I looked up at Hilda—the guardian knight.
In the game’s plot, after the Saintess was captured due to a trick called “surrounding three sides and leaving one open,”
she was publicly humiliated. The knights were so ashamed they all committed suicide.
Even Hilda was captured and eventually broken into a tool for the monsters.
No. I can’t leave the city. That would be certain death. I have to take control of my own fate!
I thought for a long time and finally made up my mind. I had to fight back. Even if I failed, I couldn’t end up in the Demon
Army’s hands!
“Guardian Knight Hilda.”
“Yes!”
Suddenly hearing her name, Hilda stood at attention. The Saintess before her was smiling, but her gaze was sharp—
completely different from before.
“Tell the city guard to seal the west gate. God is with us. If we abandon the city and our faith, how can we ask God to bless
us? Hilda, I believe in you. And I believe the other knights will protect me—and protect our faith.”
Even though the Demon Army was at the gates, the Saintess stood firm and calm.
This gave Hilda a new sense of hope.
At that moment, she made a decision.
“No matter what, we must not lose this battle!”
Otherwise, how could they face the God they believed in?
Or the Saintess who trusted them so much?
“Yes, Saintess! I, Guardian Knight Hilda, will protect Glorious City and protect you—even if it costs me my life!”
The surrounding nuns all dropped to their knees, their faces full of reverence.
You had to admit—the mental strength of these Holy Church knights was impressive. Whether or not they were strong
fighters, the moment she received the order, Hilda acted without hesitation.
As I watched her rush off, I let out a deep breath and turned to the busy nuns who were still trying to pack.
“Stop what you’re doing. All of you—come here.”
The nuns exchanged confused looks, but they put down their belongings and came over.
It was a dead-end situation anyway. Even helpless nuns needed to be put to use.
But just then, a loud, harsh voice rang out from the distance.
“What do you think you’re doing?! Who told you to stop?! Hurry up and pack! Get the Saintess out of the city!!”
