Chapter 1 : Awakening

The sky cracked.

And through that fissure, monsters poured out. Mana beasts.

Mana. A transcendental power that defied all of humanity’s accumulated knowledge, transforming each beast into a walking catastrophe.

Humanity, naturally, tried to resist.

Weapons forged from the culmination of human ingenuity were unleashed upon the mana beasts.

But the resistance was futile. With a flick of their wrists, the beasts reshaped the landscape, wielding mana to conjure all manner of bizarre phenomena. Far surpassing human comprehension, they rendered human knowledge useless.

Everyone believed humanity’s extinction was inevitable.

But humanity did not perish. Superhumans appeared, wielding mana like the beasts. Awakened ones, they were called Hunters.

These mana wielders connected to a mysterious, unknown System, manifesting unique traits, and fought back against the mana beasts. And in time, humanity declared victory.

Mana beasts—each one a disaster waiting to happen—were hunted down, human territory reclaimed piece by piece, pushing the beasts back beyond the fissures. Sealing those cracks, humanity found peace once more.

But it was a fragile peace. The mana beasts, driven beyond the fissures, sought to reopen them and invade Earth once again.

This time, however, their entry was not so easy. The System—called a godsend by some, the root of all evil by others—stood in their way.

The System trapped the mana beasts in Gates—rifts between dimensions, or prisons for the beasts—and tasked humanity’s Awakened, the Hunters, with hunting them down, maintaining the fragile peace.

Thus, Earth underwent a dramatic transformation.

And in this transformed world lived an ordinary citizen, Lee Yoohyun.

Not just one, but two Traits.

Awakening could happen at any moment, or never at all. It hinged entirely on the System’s random selection.

Some Awakened at birth, while others never did. So, Yoohyun wasn’t surprised by the Awakening itself. What shocked him was something else entirely.

“Let’s see what these are.”

He gulped, tapping on each Trait.

Hunters instinctively understood their Traits. The moment they Awakened and checked their Status, the System imprinted the information directly into their minds.

Yoohyun was no exception. The moment he saw his Traits, information flooded his mind, leaving him stunned.

First, Leisure Life. An EX-rank Trait. A transcendental rank, surpassing even SSS-rank.

Its primary ability allowed him to enter fictional worlds. To experience them like games, indulging in leisure within their narratives. And any abilities gained within these worlds could be used in reality. That was the core of Leisure Life.

‘This is beyond incredible.’ Yoohyun shuddered at the implications. To enter fictional worlds, stories crafted by human hands, and experience them firsthand… It was practically a divine power.

Then there was Random Draw, using points to obtain random items or skills; Leisure Management, to control his leisure experiences; Inventory, for limitless item storage; and Relationship Management, to maintain connections forged within the fictional worlds. Each ability of Leisure Life defied common sense.

‘And Radiant Angel is just as amazing.’

Radiant Angel was a Growth-type Trait. The conditions for its growth were unknown, but growth enhanced its abilities. And those two abilities were phenomenal.

First, Radiant Halo. Its power was regeneration. Physical wounds, mental trauma, aging, stamina, mana… it applied to everything. An utterly broken ability.

Then, Radiant Wings. Flight and manipulation. The wings, formed from Radiant Mana, allowed him to fly and control that mana.

And all these abilities would grow stronger as the Trait evolved. It was utterly overpowered.

“Wait, Radiant Angel gives me a halo and wings?”

What did he look like now?

The thought sent him rushing to the bathroom mirror. He let out a hollow laugh.

“A spitting image of an angel.”

A radiant halo hovered above his head, complemented by a pair of equally luminous wings. His hair and eyes shimmered with a golden light, his features now impossibly beautiful compared to before.

The reflection staring back was undeniably an angel.

“…”

Yoohyun stared at himself. Then,

“Yahoo!”

Flap!

He flapped his wings and cheered.

“This is the life!”

He was ecstatic. Two incredibly overpowered Traits! One allowing him to roam fictional worlds (Leisure Life), the other transforming him into an angel (Radiant Angel). How could he not be happy?

“I’m becoming a Hunter!” he declared.

Hunters. The Awakened who hunted mana beasts, seen only on TV. The ultimate profession, promising wealth, fame, and power.

With these incredible Traits, he would become a Hunter.

“First, a plan.”

Calming his excitement, Yoohyun returned to his room, grabbing a notebook and pen. He began to write.

“It’s better to start with Leisure. Hunter registration can wait.”

There was no rush. He could register when he was ready.

His priority was Leisure. Entering a fictional world, experiencing it, and growing stronger.

“The better I perform at the Hunter registration, the higher the rank I’ll get.”

Hunter ranks were divided into seven tiers: F, E, D, C, B, A, and S. An impressive display of ability during registration could earn a direct placement as high as D-rank.

Yoohyun planned to maximize his growth through Leisure before registering.

“Hmm… which world should I enter? No, wait. Shouldn’t I do that first?”

He paused mid-thought, something else coming to mind.
