Chapter 1: Welcome to Real Hell Joseon.

“Ggrrr….”

“Ugh…”

Noisy. Since when? That irritating groan kept ringing in my ears.

“Eueoreureu… Reu…”

“As if I wasn’t already dead tired from pulling an all-nighter studying the day before yesterday, that damn noise is forcing my patience to run out and my eyes to open…?”

“Ggrrr…”

“Krr…”

I was definitely sleeping in my room’s bed, but when I woke up, I was in the middle of a city. What’s going on?

What’s worse, the people around me were dressed and made up like something out of a zombie movie…

‘Clunk’

‘Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!’

The side mirror of the car behind me broke, setting off a loud alarm,

“Krr?”

“Ggrrr!!”

“Ugh!!”

The zombie movie extras nearby all turned to me… No, I need to correct myself.

One of them had an arm torn off, another had half their face rotten, and another was crawling with their upper body completely detached… This isn’t makeup, it’s clearly reality unfolding before my eyes.

If this is reality, if this absurd situation is real, does that mean I woke up in the middle of a horde of zombies just to die? What the f*ck?

“Kaaa!!”

“Ggrrr!!”

“But it’s too late to escape from here… The zombies already surrounding me are gradually closing in, and there aren’t even any tools nearby that could be used as weapons.

Am I going to die like this? I squeezed my eyes shut. Please, let all of this be a dream…

“Krr!!”

‘Thud! Splat!’

“Kaaa!!”

“Grrr….”

“?…”

Huh?

“Ggrrr!!”

‘Thud! Clunk! Bang!’

“Ggrrrrr!!”

‘Beep! Beep! Beep!’

“?????”

The zombies are ignoring me and attacking the innocent car that’s setting off the alarm.

‘Beep! Beep! Beep!’

‘Thud! Clunk!! Bang Bang!!’

One thought flashed through my mind.

Ah, could it be that I’m…

“Ugh?…” (A zombie?)

It didn’t take long to come to my senses amidst the collapsing mental state.

Let’s recap the current situation.

First, I suddenly woke up in a zombie world.

Second, I’m a zombie.

Third, I have no idea how to get back, or even where I am.

It seems like there are a few things to complain about, but relax, take a deep breath…

“Ugh…”

That sound is coming from my mouth. D*mn it.

I’ve suddenly become a zombie from a movie, only able to groan.

The zombies ignoring me and my bluish-purple arms prove that I’m a zombie.

But if I think positively, at least I won’t be bitten by the zombies around me… No, from my perspective now, do I have to avoid the humans who are still alive?

Instead of greeting humans when I see them, am I just going to get a bullet hole in my head and go to the real afterlife?

My head is a mess…

“Ggrrr….”

Whether the car’s battery died or the zombies naturally lost interest in the car, they began to scatter one by one.

Every single one of them is gruesome, with no undamaged parts on their bodies.

Some of them are half-skeleton, or have their upper bodies completely separated, dragging their intestines along the street… It’s disgusting…

“Ugh…”

Ah, am I not in a position to say that?

At least I had no problem standing up and walking right now, but I can’t even imagine how terrible I look.

I don’t know what to do right now, and instead of just sitting still and wasting time, I started walking to at least figure out where I am.

There are other zombies staggering around me…

Maybe it’s because my body has become a zombie, but my movements seem very clumsy.

I’m taking a whopping 3 minutes to walk a distance that I could normally walk in 1 minute. What an amazing feat.

Wow, zombie me is so great?!

“Ugh…”

I can’t speak properly, and only disgusting groans are echoing from my throat, so I reluctantly shut my mouth.

I thought it would be a little better for my mental health to not say anything, and as I was walking down the street, a newspaper lying on the ground was kicked by my foot, so I picked it up.

‘Tap tap.. Flap!’

After roughly shaking off the dust and unfolding the newspaper, an article with a zombie on the front page was plastered on the headline.

‘July 2024…’

Hmm, the era is roughly the near future, or almost modern,

‘Due to a global fatal virus, the government has declared martial law…’

Hmm… The content of the newspaper is like something you’d see in a zombie movie. Has the place I’m in now already fallen? Or have the survivors given up on reclaiming it?

Many questions arise, but so what. I’m already a zombie, so I won’t be welcomed by any survivors…

Even if a survivor knew that I had intelligence unlike other zombies, that would mean I’d be sent to a research lab to find a cure for zombies, which wouldn’t be a good ending.

In any case, I’ve become the only loner in this godd*mn zombie-filled world.

“Ugh….”
(I want to go back…)

The mouth that had been tightly closed reopened.

Hmm… Now that I think about it, what about my room? There’s nothing else to do in this situation, so I should go back to where I lived. As I turned around in the ruined city,

I saw my reflection in the unbroken glass display case in the window.

A elementary, or middle school-aged girl wearing a blouse and jeans that were torn here and there…?

“Ugh?”

A girl?
