Chapter 11: Bite Marks

“What short contract?

Are you done absorbing it or not?

If you’re done, hurry up and let go of me.

Don’t touch me randomly.”

Wei Lan looked at the person pressing down on her with displeasure, her neck aching from being bitten, her lips still being rubbed back and forth by Lu Zijin.

Seeing her reluctance, Lu Zijin’s gaze turned cold.

“What, you don’t want next month’s silver anymore?”

Wei Lan glared at Lu Zijin.

After a long moment, she deflated and said, “I do.”

Seeing Wei Lan behave herself, Lu Zijin’s lips curved again into a faint smile.

Her thumb ground lightly over Wei Lan’s lower lip.

“Then form a short contract with me.

Quickly.”

Wei Lan turned her head aside, dodging Lu Zijin’s finger pressing against her lip.

She asked, “How do you form a short contract?”

Hearing this, Lu Zijin felt an inexplicable surge of anger.

Although she had absorbed quite a bit of Wei Lan’s pheromones, her body still felt uncomfortable.

She felt Wei Lan was deliberately toying with her.

After all, aside from children, no Qianyuan or Kunze of their age could possibly not know how to form a contract.

Lu Zijin reached out and pinched Wei Lan’s chin, forcing her to look up.

“You don’t know how to form a contract?”

Her voice was icy.

Wei Lan looked into her eyes and nodded in confusion.

She had read the books, and they all said forming a contract meant biting the other person’s contract mark.

But how to bite, how hard to bite—she genuinely had no idea.

“I really don’t know.”

Wei Lan’s gaze was clear as she looked straight at Lu Zijin.

Lu Zijin studied her.

She distinctly remembered Wei Lan going drinking with friends at a tavern before marrying in.

And yet she was a pure, innocent Qianyuan who didn’t even know how to form a contract?

But Wei Lan’s expression did not seem fake.

Lu Zijin loosened the hand gripping her chin and lightly tapped Wei Lan’s contract mark with her fingertip.

Wei Lan’s body shuddered.

She realized that whenever someone touched that spot, it tickled unbearably.

Seeing her react, Lu Zijin’s lips curved almost imperceptibly.

She lowered her gaze and instructed, “Bite here and that forms the contract.

But for a short contract, you must not bite for too long.

Do you understand?”

Wei Lan looked at Lu Zijin and still asked, “Do I just bite directly?

Or do I have to bite until it breaks the skin?”

“Of course you have to bite through and pass your pheromones over.

Do you understand now?”

Lu Zijin asked.

Wei Lan nodded.

She was afraid of biting Lu Zijin too hard.

After all, she still had to rely on her to eat soft rice.

“Then… if I bite too hard and it hurts, you push me away and I’ll stop,” Wei Lan said.

Lu Zijin, still lying atop her, nodded.

She looked down at Wei Lan.

In her impression, whenever Kunze entered their Rain Dew Period, any Qianyuan—no matter who—would become like a beast lured by instinct, fiercely aggressive.

She had never heard of a Qianyuan who would be this obedient during a Kunze’s Rain Dew Period, even worrying about hurting her.

Lu Zijin’s lips curved faintly as she watched the slightly flustered Wei Lan beneath her.

Wei Lan truly seemed not to know how to bite at all, her entire face flushed red.

Lu Zijin simply watched her, with no intention of guiding or helping.

Wei Lan really was nervous.

In her previous life, she had never dated.

She had friends, yes, but she had never been this close to anyone before.

And now she had to bite someone.

It was incredibly awkward.

Seeing Lu Zijin watching her, Wei Lan gritted her teeth and braced her hands behind her, pushing herself up.

Lu Zijin stared at her steadily, curious to see when Wei Lan would finally bite.

Wei Lan leaned toward the right side of Lu Zijin’s neck.

She reached up and swept Lu Zijin’s loose black hair back behind her shoulder.

Then Wei Lan saw the small swollen patch on Lu Zijin’s neck.

She leaned closer, opened her mouth—yet no matter what, she could not bring herself to bite.

Lu Zijin looked down at her.

Wei Lan tried several times without success.

Meanwhile, Lu Zijin herself was being thoroughly teased by Wei Lan’s hesitant movements.

Lu Zijin finally reached out, cupped the back of Wei Lan’s neck, and pressed her closer.

Her voice dropped lower and heavier.

“What are you waiting for?

Bite.”

With her nape held down, Wei Lan’s lips were already pressed against the contract mark.

She clenched her teeth, opened her mouth, and gently bit down.

But she used too little force and did not break the skin at all.

Lu Zijin was already in the midst of her Rain Dew Period.

How could she withstand such a bite?

Her body went limp, collapsing into Wei Lan’s arms.

Lu Zijin barely managed to brace her hands at Wei Lan’s waist and gritted out,
“Bite down.

Don’t just brush against it like that.”

Hearing the strain in Lu Zijin’s voice, Wei Lan sensed something was wrong.

It sounded as though Lu Zijin was in real discomfort.

She opened her mouth again and bit down once more, this time using more strength.

She seemed to finally understand how a short contract worked.

She carefully pushed her fresh-snow pheromones into Lu Zijin’s body.

Then she felt the person lying atop her begin to tremble faintly.

Thinking she might be biting too hard, Wei Lan eased her strength.

Immediately, she felt the hands gripping her waist tighten instead.

After biting for a while, Wei Lan felt it was enough and withdrew slightly.

Seeing how much sweat coated Lu Zijin’s face, she asked, “How is it?

Do you feel better?”

Lu Zijin felt as though she were wrapped in a field of snow, the heat in her body gradually fading.

The sensation was wonderful—far more comfortable than taking suppressants.

And Wei Lan had not acted aggressively at all.

After forming the short contract, she had even released her.

This allowed Lu Zijin to finally relax a little.

“Mm.

Lie down and let me lean on you for a while,” Lu Zijin ordered tiredly.

Wei Lan had originally intended to help support Lu Zijin.

But recalling how Lu Zijin had just forbidden her from touching, she withdrew her hand.

She propped herself up and lay back down instead, while Lu Zijin remained pressed against her.

Once Wei Lan lay down, she noticed that the white sandalwood scent in the room had faded considerably.

She herself was growing sleepy.

Seeing that Lu Zijin had closed her eyes, Wei Lan closed hers as well.

Just as Wei Lan was drifting toward sleep, she felt her chin grabbed again.

The next instant, a cold voice sounded above her.

“Who allowed you to sleep here?”

Wei Lan opened her eyes and saw Lu Zijin’s ink-dark gaze fixed on her.

“I saw you sleeping and thought I’d rest for a bit too.

Is that not allowed?”

Wei Lan found Lu Zijin inexplicable.

“No.

Get down.

Go back to your courtyard.

My bedchamber is not a place you are allowed to stay overnight.”

The voice was clear and cold, icy enough to freeze the listener solid.

Wei Lan glared at Lu Zijin.

This woman was truly infuriating.

She was the one who called her over.

The one who told her to bite.

And now that she was done using her, she discarded her without hesitation.

She was not even allowed to lie on the bed for a moment.

“So stingy.

I can’t even lie down for a bit.

Fine, I’m leaving.

As if I wanted to stay here anyway.”

Wei Lan pushed at Lu Zijin, signaling for her to get off.

At the same time, she muttered her complaints under her breath.

Because she still had to live off soft rice, her muttering was very quiet.

Lu Zijin got off Wei Lan and raised a brow.

“What?

Is the household lord dissatisfied with me?”

“Hah.

How would I dare be dissatisfied?

I’ll go back then.”

Wei Lan said weakly.

She put her outer clothes back on and pushed the door open, leaving Lu Zijin’s bedchamber.

While she herself might not have noticed, Wei Lan had actually spent a full hour inside the room.

When she left, she still carried traces of white sandalwood scent on her body.

Most of the maids and servants were Zhongyong, however, and could not smell it.

Yet Wei Lan had not had time to reapply the salve to her contract mark.

The reddened skin bore several distinct bite marks, clearly advertising what she and Lu Zijin had done inside.

Qing Zhi saw them immediately.

She hurriedly bowed.

“This servant will escort the household lord back to rest.”

“No need.

I can go back myself.”

It was her neck that had been bitten, not her legs.

Seeing her refuse, Qing Zhi quickly said,
“Then if the household lord has any orders, you may have the servants in your courtyard handle them, or send someone to come find me directly.”

“Mm, no need.”

Wei Lan was in no mood for conversation.

She only wanted to return and rest, so she said nothing more and walked away.

Yun Xiang stood to the side, nearly grinding her teeth to pieces.

Even trash like this deserves to be with our young miss?

The young miss must have been forced to use Wei Lan’s pheromones.

With that thought, Yun Xiang rolled her eyes again.

Seeing that she was not needed in the courtyard for the moment, her eyes flickered, and she quietly slipped away.
