I obtained a new weapon.
[Mystic resonates with Divinity.]
[Mystic is unleashed.]
[You have acquired a Signature Weapon.]
In a completely unexpected way.
Needing to think this over alone, I left the scene and climbed to the rooftop of the building.
I carefully read the hologram window that appeared before me.
‘Mystic resonated with Divinity? What’s that supposed to mean?’
It wasn’t exactly a riddle, but the hologram spat out cryptic nonsense.
I could make some guesses, though.
Divinity literally means a divine name.
Since Mika comes from Michael, it might count as a divine name.
So, was calling myself Mika what triggered this?
‘Hm… Too little info to be sure. Let’s check the status window.’
[Divine Name: Mika]
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Occupation: Angel
Level: 8
Health: 3928
Mystic: 2131
Attack: 1551
Defense: 401
Agility: 1592
Natural Recovery: 1997
Acquired Skills:
Dress Form LV.3
Signature Weapon ★
Skill Points: 5
As expected, my stats had risen with my level.
But there were more important changes.
Most notably, my name had changed.
So, when it said Mystic resonated with Divinity, it also updated my name?
‘And there’s a new skill… Why doesn’t it have a level?’
[Signature Weapon: Quis ut Deus ★]
Summons a submachine gun exclusive to Mika.
It has a mystical appearance, glowing like stars in the dark.
Firing bullets consumes Mystic.
*The weapon’s power and durability scale with Mika’s stats.
*If the weapon is destroyed, it can be resummoned by consuming Mystic.
*This skill cannot be leveled up with Skill Points.
*The weapon can be enhanced through Divinity.
‘That’s a lot of stuff tacked on.’
Ignoring the cryptic symbols, I focused on the core.
In short, I got a cheat-tier submachine gun for free, exclusive to me.
The downside? It levels up through some weird method instead of Skill Points.
But that didn’t matter.
‘Finally, a useful skill! Not some weird clothing skill!’
If this had been another princess dress-up skill, I’d have cried.
Heart pounding, I activated the skill immediately.
You gotta try new toys right away—it’s only polite.
I felt something drain from my body.
Then, a submachine gun materialized before my eyes.
“Whoa…”
I carefully picked it up.
The weapon’s design was flashy and sleek.
It looked less like a practical war tool and more like an accessory a high school girl would carry.
At the same time, it fit perfectly in my small, slender hands.
It felt like a custom-made weapon just for me.
‘But it’s weird. I’ve never handled a gun… So why does this feel so familiar?’
I’m an orphan.
Never went to the military.
Naturally, I’ve never touched a submachine gun, let alone a rifle.
Yet, the moment I held this gun, I felt at ease.
Instinctively, I knew how to use it.
It was like my wings—moving the gun felt as natural as moving a part of my body.
That’s the vibe.
‘So cool.’
I wanted to try it in action.
I returned to the city center and climbed to the roof of the tallest building—a 15-story structure.
It was time to test my new weapon.
‘Shooting in a quiet place would be fine, but real combat’s the best.’
In an apocalypse, there’s no such thing as a quiet place to fire a gun anyway.
I scanned the area for a zombie horde worth hunting.
‘Surprisingly, a lot of people are out.’
Maybe because Gimpo’s zombies were drawn elsewhere, I spotted people sneaking around here and there.
Probably scavenging for food.
Not everyone was sneaking.
Some boldly roamed the streets, weapons in hand, taking down zombies.
They shot fire from their hands or summoned stone spikes from the ground to kill zombies.
It was obvious at a glance—they were awakeners, hunting zombies to level up.
‘Not a bad idea. Now’s the perfect time to hunt zombies.’
Zombie density was low, and with people out, the zombies’ attention was split.
A chance this good for hunting wouldn’t come often.
I couldn’t just sit still.
I thought about where to shoot to avoid harming others.
“Argh! H-Help!”
At that moment, people burst out of a shop near my building.
Three men and a woman with glasses.
Dozens of zombies chased after them.
They must’ve accidentally stirred up zombies inside the building.
‘Trouble. The noise is drawing more zombies from the area.’
It wasn’t just one direction.
Hundreds of zombies started converging, surrounding the fleeing group.
If this kept up, their fate was obvious.
Looks like it’s time to test my gun.
I leaped off the rooftop.
Flap, flap.
My wings slowed my descent.
My target: the spot in front of the fleeing group.
They spotted me and stopped running.
I landed in front of them.
Softly.
Thanks to my wings, I landed without a sound.
I spoke to the stunned group.
“It’s dangerous. Get behind me.”
Unless you want to be target practice for my new weapon.
Gimpo’s zombies had migrated somewhere.
According to the barely functioning internet, it wasn’t just Gimpo.
Millions of zombies across Gyeonggi Province were converging on one location.
That location was where the 1st Infantry Division was stationed.
Were they waging war against the division?
No one knew why the zombies were gathering there.
No idiot would voluntarily walk into a place swarming with millions of zombies.
But people didn’t let the opportunity slip.
To secure long-term food supplies or to seize an easy leveling event, the few survivors ventured out.
The survivors at Gimpo Library were no different.
Originally, they’d been at the library when the zombie outbreak hit.
Luckily, an awakener appeared and cleared the zombies with minimal losses.
Survivors from other areas even flocked there.
In total, 40 survivors gathered at the library.
But that became their downfall.
Too many survivors meant food shortages.
The library’s cafeteria ran dry in three days.
With no idea when the government would recover or society would stabilize, they had to venture out for food.
But what were the odds of city folk finding food in an apocalyptic world without attracting zombies?
As expected, the moment they entered the city center, zombies spotted them, and a life-or-death chase began.
“Eek! Run! Ruuun!”
“Idiot! Why’d you touch that?!”
“Sh*t! You made noise too! Don’t pin it on me!”
“Everyone, shut up and run! We can’t lead them to the library! Find a building with no zombies!”
“Where the hell is a place like that?!”
The survivors screamed as they fled, zombies driven by hunger hot on their heels.
Thud-thud-thud.
Then—
The group’s only awakener, Lee Ki-cheol, with his enhanced hearing, noticed zombies converging from ahead.
Danger.
‘Ugh… No choice. I’ll be the bait!’
Ki-cheol gritted his teeth and gripped his crowbar.
Rather than let everyone die, he’d fight alone.
As an awakener, he might survive somehow.
With grim resolve, he opened his mouth to tell the others—
Flap.
Something descended, blocking the blazing sun.
“Look! Something’s falling from the sky!”
“W-Wings? A bird? That’s not important right now!”
“Oppa! It’s coming this way!”
Ki-cheol snapped his head up.
As his companions said, something with wings was descending.
Gracefully, like a swan flapping its wings.
With his sharp eyes, he realized it was a person.
“An… angel?”
Mika, descending from the sky, landed softly.
A beautiful girl in pure white wings and sacred robes.
She exuded a holiness straight out of scripture.
Ki-cheol and his group, forgetting their desperate escape, stared in awe.
The men were struck by Mika’s beauty, the woman by the sudden situation.
But the silence didn’t last.
—Kyeeeek!!!
The zombies’ roars snapped them back to reality.
“Eek!”
The group trembled in fear.
Mika extended a hand toward them and said,
“It’s dangerous. Get behind me.”
At her words, they moved behind her without protest.
Or rather, her divine aura left them unable to argue.
As they retreated, Mika raised the gun in her hand, aiming at the zombies.
Ki-cheol’s eyes widened.
An angel shooting a gun?
“A-Angel-nim, the gun…”
“It’s fine. Just trust me.”
Her words silenced him.
Right, she must have a plan.
With no one stopping her, Mika confidently opened fire on the zombies.
Rat-tat-tat-tat!
Her gun roared, unleashing a torrent of bullets.
The bullets’ power was extraordinary.
Each hit tore through zombies, shredding their bodies.
Mika didn’t stop, mowing down zombies charging from all directions.
No precise aiming was needed.
The densely packed zombies were just a giant target.
The horde chasing the survivors was reduced to pieces in mere tens of seconds.
“Phew… You all okay?”
Mika turned and asked.
Everyone except Ki-cheol nodded, showering her with gratitude.
“Wow…”
“Thank you so much!”
“Are you really an angel? That was amazing!”
Amid the celebration, Ki-cheol hesitated, wondering if he should say it.
Then, cautiously, he spoke.
“Um… Angel-nim?”
“Yes?”
Mika tilted her head at his question.
Seeing her, Ki-cheol’s face flushed.
Oh no.
This angel was too cute.
But he steeled himself and asked what was on his mind.
“…Is it okay to fire a gun in the city center with zombies around?”
A perfectly reasonable question.
“…Oh.”
As he spoke, it happened.
—Kyeeeek!!!
The city’s zombies roared in unison.
The thunderous gunfire had provoked every zombie left in the area.
“…”
A bead of cold sweat trickled down Mika’s face.
But she flashed a small smile and said to Ki-cheol,
“O-Of course. It’s all part of my plan.”
She had no idea how loud gunfire was.
