“You all… can you promise not to tell anyone?”
Luo Li slightly furrowed her delicate brows, her worried expression tugging at everyone’s heartstrings.
The knight Hilda and the three nuns present felt a strong impulse rising from within—to pull this small girl into their
arms and comfort her, just to ease her sorrow.
As the Saintess, Luo Li held the highest status in the Holy Church. Hilda, as a temple knight, was technically her
subordinate. How could she bear to see Her Highness troubled over something so small?
“Your Highness, please don’t worry about this. It was my fault for being too forward.”
The Saintess was second only to the Moon Angel Sariel in the entire Moon Kingdom. For her to show such a troubled face
—it was a complete failure on Hilda’s part as a knight!
Seeing the worry on Luo Li’s face, Hilda grew anxious. Deep inside, guilt and repentance filled her heart. In this
moment… she made a decision: no matter what Her Highness asked, she would agree—as long as it would ease her
distress.
Even if… even if Her Highness was lonely tonight and wanted… wanted her to warm the bed, Hilda would agree without
hesitation!
That would be such a joy—no! Hilda wasn’t thinking of her own selfish desires. It would be for Her Highness! For the
Holy Church! Her chastity… meant nothing in comparison!
In fact, it would be the greatest honor of her life!
Thankfully, Luo Li had no idea what the temple knight in front of her was thinking.
As one of the Moon Kingdom’s Eight Guardian Knights, known as the “Glint of the Flowing Moon,” Hilda was actually
having thoughts like that?
If Luo Li had known, she’d have dropped her jaw in shock—and might’ve run away from Glorious City on the spot!
“Your Highness~ I promise I won’t tell anyone, okay? Please just tell us~”
The one speaking now was a cheerful girl with short golden hair sitting next to Luo Li. Her bright green eyes sparkled
with curiosity and excitement, and her little hands twisted nervously over her chest. If temple rules didn’t forbid physical
contact with the Saintess, she probably would’ve leapt on her already, demanding answers.
Luo Li turned to look at her. This green-eyed, short-haired girl was one of three nuns Luo Li had carefully selected from
many candidates.
The three she had chosen were all of pure lineage. Their family backgrounds could be traced five generations back, all
verifiable in Glorious City’s records.
Luo Li had spent a great deal of effort making these selections.
Nala’s bright green eyes shimmered like flowing spring water, so lively they seemed to speak. Luo Li felt like if she didn’t
say something soon, Nala might cry.
“Nala, how can you speak to Her Highness like that? Do you remember you’re a nun?”
The one who interrupted her was Laura, who used to be responsible for copying scriptures and filing documents. She had
also been chosen through the same careful vetting process.
Laura had long straight orange hair and a naturally serious expression. She carried herself with dignity and composure,
always acting with precision and restraint. In Luo Li’s eyes, she was the ideal right-hand woman.
“If Her Highness wants to speak, she will. Please… don’t pressure her.”
The last to speak was the girl sitting deepest inside the carriage: Ella.
She had long, wavy green hair and always carried a hint of sadness in her eyes. Though she seemed timid and quiet, she
actually spoke more than expected. Usually, she tended to the flowers in the temple’s backyard and rarely got to interact
with the Saintess.
Maybe they knew it, or maybe they didn’t.
But the moment they were chosen, their fates had already changed.
Luo Li had spent an entire afternoon evaluating their personalities, behavior, family background, and knowledge before
finally selecting these three.
Nala was lively, curious, and adorable—especially her bouncing assets, which were very easy on the eyes. She was perfect
as a personal maid. She had a strong sense of curiosity and many connections—quite well-known in the temple.
Laura was chosen as a capable assistant, thanks to her disciplined, meticulous personality. She might not be leadership
material, but she was definitely a competent administrator.
Ella, though shy, was very observant and could often spot things others missed.
And lastly… all three were young and beautiful.
Even though Nala kept saying, “I won’t tell anyone! Please tell us, Your Highness~”
Luo Li knew very well—that was impossible.
But that was exactly what she wanted.
Because when certain things are spread by others, they sound far more believable than when she announced them herself
as the Saintess.
That’s just how people are—the more “secret” something is, the faster it spreads.
Especially when that “secret” carries an air of mystery.
As more people shared it, the story would be polished and improved with each retelling.
It was like a relay novel.
She just needed to start the first chapter—others would take care of the rest.
With a carefully furrowed brow and a long pause, she finally relaxed her expression slightly and softly said:
“Actually… it’s because I heard a voice.”
“A voice?!”
Nala gasped and covered her mouth in surprise, her green eyes shimmering even more brightly.
Laura bowed her head slightly and said nothing.
Ella gently pressed her hands together and held them in front of her chest, closing her eyes in prayer.
As for the ponytailed knight Hilda—her eyes were practically burning. The look in her eyes felt like it could melt someone.
Normally, most people wouldn’t believe something like this.
But these three nuns and Hilda were all devout, almost fanatically loyal to the “Angels.”
Even if this story sounded ridiculous, they believed it more than they believed gold was real.
Their eyes burned with zeal.
Luo Li felt like they might pounce on her any second and devour her whole.
She didn’t interrupt their imaginations. Instead, she kept flipping through the [Heroic Legend] book in her hands.
She knew every word she said would be magnified a hundred times, becoming more “true” as it spread through the
people.
And that… would be very, very useful for what she planned to do next.
Everything was going according to plan!
Luo Li lifted the carriage curtain—they had already left the city.
But the roads outside hadn’t been maintained, so the carriage jolted nonstop.
One particular area of her body began to ache a little.
The pain was hard to bear. As a Saintess, Luo Li had been cleansed by holy water—her skin was as delicate as a baby’s.
It hurts…
Luo Li clenched her teeth. Just thinking about being forced to leave the elegant, cozy temple made her furious.
