Chapter 15: The Kitten’s Peculiar Taste and a Pervert’s Reincarnation

“It hurts—”

A chorus of pained cries erupted from everyone on the ground. Xiao Xi, speechless, rolled to the side, finally freeing himself from the combined weight of Senior and Shi Meng.

‘This is it…’

‘His chest throbbed; how many ribs had he broken this time?’

‘Was it serious? Should he go to the infirmary? Had he sustained internal injuries? His sister had already inflicted enough internal damage on him over the past few days, and now this.’

‘Damn it! If he didn’t live past eighty, it would be entirely the fault of his accursed sister, Senior, and Shi Meng!’

Meanwhile, aside from Shi Meng, who had been knocked unconscious, Senior sat quietly on the ground.

She appeared to be the most resilient of the three. Still shaken, she took two deep breaths, slowly regaining her composure.

‘How had things spiraled into such a mess?’

“Junior, you couldn’t even stand steady!” Senior Meiyou turned her head, complaining with a hint of petulance. Xiao Xi, naturally, refused to show weakness. “Senior, you can’t blame me! The smell was too strong!”

“Argh! I told you not to mention it!” Senior swung another playful punch, and Xiao Xi quickly dodged.

‘This wouldn’t do. Senior was displeased, and he had dared to evade her.’

‘Time to shift the blame further!’

“Ultimately, wasn’t it your terrible idea, Junior? And in the end, you proved to be utterly unreliable!”

“Wuwuwu, I’m sorry—” Xiao Xi lowered his head. “It was my oversight. I didn’t realize Senior’s feet smelled so… strong. My sister’s feet are fine, though…”

“Stop talking about feet! Do you want me to stomp on your face next time?” Senior, speechless and flustered, turned her head away. “It’s all your fault. At least the kitten was rescued, otherwise, I wouldn’t let you off the hook this time. The kitten… wait? Where’s the kitten?”

Senior shook her head, scanning the surroundings. The kitten? Surely they hadn’t forgotten to bring it down?

Picking up Shi Meng from beside her, Senior gently patted her face. Shi Meng babbled, shaking her head as her eyes slowly brightened, seeming to clear up considerably.

“Senior… why are there two of you?” Shi Meng stared at the blurry afterimages before her, her mind still hazy. ‘Oh no, she wasn’t particularly bright to begin with; now she’s probably knocked herself silly. My poor little sister Shi Meng… wuwu—’

“Shi Meng, where did the kitten go?”

“The kitten?” Shi Meng’s mind went blank. What kitten? Oh… right, they were here to rescue a kitten.

‘The kitten… the kitten…’

“It seems to have jumped away!” Shi Meng sat up and looked around. Suddenly, a familiar small figure reappeared in everyone’s sight!

The kitten was crouching by a patch of shrubbery in the green belt, secretly observing the trio.

“Oh, there it is!” Xiao Xi pointed in the direction of the kitten. All three spotted the small cat, and Xiao Xi nodded cheerfully. “Isn’t this great? It’s been rescued, hasn’t it?”

“Ah, about that…” Senior looked somewhat troubled. “Junior, can you think of another way to catch it?”

“Huh? It’s already down, isn’t it? Why do we need to catch it again?” Xiao Xi was puzzled. Hadn’t the kitten been trapped on the roof? Wasn’t simply getting it down enough?

“You’re only concerned with rescuing, not raising? Xiao Xi, are you the type of person who pulls up their pants and abandons a girl? Hmph—you’re not even as good as your sister; at least she knows how to take care of you.”

“I—” Xiao Xi was rendered speechless by Senior’s retort. ‘Well, she had a point. They probably did need to care for the kitten. If it became a stray, its life would be incredibly difficult, exposed to the elements without a home, with such a short lifespan. And if it encountered cat abusers, it might even…’

‘Ah, having a kind owner truly was a blessing.’

****

‘I was talking about the *cat*!’

“I’ll find a professional organization to care for it, and they’ll arrange for adoption. Don’t worry! The critical issue now is not to let the kitten run off; we need to coax it over,” Senior reassured Xiao Xi. Xiao Xi nodded, regaining his composure, and began to ponder how to lure the kitten closer.

‘Hmm…’

“How about… Senior, you call it?” Xiao Xi turned and suggested to Senior. This cat had always been fed by Senior and Shi Meng—ahem, even if it was with a basket, it should still be familiar with Senior’s scent.

“Besides, it was just a kitten; it might be quite friendly and come over with a single call. Wouldn’t that make it an easy catch, ready to be scooped up?”

“Hmm… how do I call it? I’m not very good at that,” Senior said, looking a little bewildered. Shi Meng, beside her, eagerly instructed, “Just meow like a kitten!”

“Oh~” Senior nodded, understanding. Then, she quietly crouched on the ground, licked her palm, and, mimicking a cat, made a fist, placed her hand in front of her face, pursed her lips, and softly uttered, “Meow~”

“Meow~” The kitten responded tentatively.

“Meow~”

“Meow~”

‘Wait… how were this person and cat communicating? Could Senior actually speak feline? If so, why hadn’t she used it earlier? She could have just encouraged the kitten to make a brave leap of faith! Would they have had to form a human ladder and suffer such a miserable fall?’

‘And Senior, this was… illegally cute! She was already wearing cat-ear hair clips, and now she was meowing like a cat, making Xiao Xi’s heart pound. Catgirl Senior was just too adorable!’

“Meow~ Xiao Xi-chan, the kitten has agreed to come with me. Quick, bring it over to me, meow~”

Senior mischievously turned her head, asking Xiao Xi. He quickly averted his gaze, not daring to look at her adorable antics. ‘This was it, his heart was utterly flustered…’

Nearby, Shi Meng stomped on Xiao Xi’s foot. ‘Hiss—that hurt!’

“Go get the cat, you pervert Xi-ge!” Shi Meng exclaimed, clearly displeased, which made Senior burst into giggles.

‘Xiao Xi quickly realized he was being teased once more.’

He could only reluctantly go and retrieve the cat. Honestly, shouldn’t Senior, who could apparently communicate with the kitten, be handling this task?

‘Could he even do it? What if the kitten just ran off?’

Xiao Xi nervously approached the kitten and tentatively picked it up. To his surprise, the kitten was incredibly cooperative, leaping directly onto him and then vigorously rubbing against his neck and face.

‘Hahaha, it’s so affectionate…’

****

‘Eh?’

‘Hold on, why did the kitten love rubbing those two specific spots on him so much? Was there a scent it particularly enjoyed there?’

‘Uh…’

‘Come to think of it, those were precisely the two spots Senior had been… holding onto earlier.’

‘You…’

‘Kitten, tell me honestly, which pervert reincarnated as you? Your taste is far too peculiar! This doesn’t even smell as good as my sister’s feet!’

Xiao Xi silently carried the kitten back. Sure enough, the kitten didn’t disappoint, immediately leaping onto Senior’s lap, where it rubbed and rubbed and rubbed against her.

‘It really was because of that!’

“Alright~” Senior happily picked up the kitten. “Now, everything is complete. Let’s take the kitten to a professional organization~”

“Huh? Is there anything else we need to do?”

“Well… we’re just dropping the cat off. As for what the organization will do… they’ll probably spay or neuter it first, right? Ehehe~”

“Hey, hey, hey, Senior, dare you say that again to the kitten?”

“What’s wrong, Junior? Scared? What happens to this kitten today could very well be your fate tomorrow~”
