Chapter 15: Your Master Is Really Amazing

“Mm… is it not done yet?”

“Almost, almost!”

“Don’t touch… it tickles…”

“Almost, almost, just bear with it a little longer!”

Early in the morning, as soon as they woke up, Yiluo started working on Coco’s appearance.

Using the accessories she bought last night, she dressed Coco up again — especially putting great effort into her hair.

The floral headpiece she bought decorated Coco’s hair beautifully, perfectly hiding Coco’s cat ears and tiny horns.

Yiluo proudly pushed the mirror in front of Coco.

“Isn’t it extremely cute, my beautiful master?”

Coco opened her mouth in surprise as she looked at herself in the mirror.

Under the exquisite accessories and Yiluo’s careful makeup, she seemed like a completely different person, unrecognizable even to herself.

Miss Yiluo is truly incredible!

Coco felt this sincerely from her heart.

“It’s i-i-is… it’s fine!”

“Huh?

Does that mean my sense of aesthetics doesn’t match yours?

Should I improve it?”

Hearing that, Coco quickly waved her hands to stop her.

“Miss Yiluo, it’s already perfect!

No need to trouble yourself further!”

Yiluo smiled knowingly and corrected Coco’s mistake.

“That’s good, Master.

Your satisfaction is my greatest honor.”

Then she lifted the corners of her maid skirt and performed a respectful bow.

“Master, please just call me Yiluo.

No need to add ‘Miss.’”

Coco still couldn’t get used to the way Yiluo spoke, so she asked cautiously,

“Are we… starting now?”

Yiluo replied respectfully,

“Yes, my noble master, Coco Elizabeth.”

Seeing Yiluo’s attitude, Coco closed her eyes to adjust her demeanor.

Recalling how the late Viscount used to speak, she replied,

“Mm.

Alright, Yiluo.”

Pfft—

Seeing Coco’s cautious expression, Yiluo couldn’t help but laugh.

“Mmph!”

Coco puffed her cheeks angrily, unable to speak for a moment.

Yiluo quickly composed herself and said with a gentle smile,

“Master, please enjoy the upcoming journey.

Leave everything to me.”

As she spoke, she placed a blue European-style hat onto Coco’s head.

“Perfect.”

Double protection.

“My lovely master, let’s depart.”

“Mm, let’s go.”

Coco had been rescued by Yiluo from the mercenaries — a mixed-blood demon.

Taking her openly to the Green Barrier would be no different from courting death.

As a skilled agent, Yiluo disguised Coco as a noble lady, planning to keep her inside the carriage the whole way.

Anything that happened along the journey — she would have Jack deal with it.

If necessary, she would handle it herself… preferably using gold coins.

“Beautiful ladies, did you sleep well last night?”

The landlady of the Blessing Inn greeted her distinguished guests warmly.

“My master slept very well.

Thank you for providing such a comfortable room.”

“That’s good.

There was a fire in town last night, and the guards came to question the guests… but I sent them away.”

“Thank you very much.”

Yiluo placed several silver coins into the landlady’s hand.

“Oh, may Lord Kaos bless you.

Please enjoy your meal — our best chef has already prepared a fine breakfast for the two of you.”

Receiving such a generous tip, the landlady beamed with joy.

Yiluo and Coco ate with elegant manners.

Yiluo, being a trained agent, needed no explanation — but even Coco was well-versed in noble etiquette.

Just from appearance and behavior alone, anyone would believe they were a noble lady and her maid.

“Yiluo… the fire last night?”

“My noble master, I know nothing about it.”

Yiluo winked at Coco.

Coco understood and didn’t continue asking, eating in peace.

After breakfast, they stepped out of the inn — and found a luxurious carriage before them.

The compartment opened from both sides and could seat six people, with a tea table in the center holding snacks.

Three majestic horses pulled the carriage.

“Master, please board our carriage.”

Coco suppressed her surprise — she had no idea how Yiluo obtained such a luxurious vehicle.

With Jack opening the door and Yiluo supporting her, Coco entered the carriage, sitting stiffly with her back straight.

Jack was dressed handsomely today — wearing a tailcoat, a top hat, and even his mithril dagger sheath was polished to shine.

After helping Coco aboard, he leaned toward Yiluo and whispered,

“So this is your master?”

“Of course.”

Yiluo’s expression was proud.

Jack was doing well; the carriage was excellent.

“Your master is really amazing!”

???

Yiluo, who had been about to praise him, froze.

A line of question marks appeared above her head, and she glared fiercely at Jack.

“Please watch your words.

If anything goes wrong on the road… that gold coin—”

She smiled kindly.

Jack shivered violently, feeling like he was standing on the edge of a cliff, Yiluo ready to push him off at any moment.

After Yiluo boarded, Jack scratched his head in confusion, unable to understand what he said wrong.

He had thought Yiluo’s master would be a young promising noble or a refined nobleman.

He never expected such a beautiful and elegant lady.

He had seen many noble ladies in his years — but never one so beautiful and unpretentious.

Yiluo’s master really was amazing.

Was that wrong?

Jack couldn’t figure it out, so he simply decided to be extremely careful.

Not with the noble lady —
but with her terrifying maid.

“Yiluo, did that man say something?”

Coco noticed Yiluo’s off expression when she entered the carriage and asked carefully.

After closing the curtains, Yiluo replied,

“My dear master, you worry too much.

Just a clueless temporary butler praising your beauty.”

“Yiluo, the truth.”

Coco detected the sarcasm in Yiluo’s tone and pretended to scold her.

Yiluo lightly pressed her hands to her chest and smiled with narrowed eyes.

“My dear master, it was my rudeness.

I simply don’t like hearing others use improper words to describe you.”

Jack, driving the carriage, almost choked on his water upon hearing that.

He quickly put away his flask and wrote in a little notebook:

Rule #1 for dealing with the scary, black-bellied maid — never compliment her master.

Coco, hearing Yiluo’s words, strangely felt genuinely happy.

Feeling embarrassed, she looked aside and whispered,

“T-Then… I forgive you.”

“I don’t dislike this side of you, Yiluo.”

“Thank you, my master.”

Yiluo felt joy rise in her heart — Jack’s earlier comment instantly forgotten.

Through the curtain’s gap, she spotted the perverted clothing shop owner from yesterday.

He sat before the burned-down ruins of his shop, wearing pink pajamas, looking utterly miserable.

“Jack, that person looks quite pitiful.”

There was a small window on the carriage wall for speaking with the driver.

“Oh, that swindler?

His shop burned yesterday.

The town guards took two hours to put the fire out.

Huge commotion.”

Yiluo’s eyes shifted.

She picked two worst snacks from the tea table, handed them through the small window, and said,

“A swindler, huh?

But he looks pitiful.

Take these snacks to him before we continue.”

“Tell him we once visited his store.

His clothes were wonderful.

He shouldn’t lose heart.”

She also handed Jack ten copper coins.

“As you wish.”

Jack stopped the carriage, delivered the snacks and coins to the now-beggar-like shop owner, and said,

“Our master offers these.

She once visited your shop — your clothes were wonderful.

Do not despair.”

“Thank our master properly.”

Jack secretly thought:
The maid is terrifying and black-bellied…
but surprisingly kind.

The shop owner stared at the two low-quality snacks and ten copper coins.

Tears streamed down his face.

Ten copper coins…

What was he supposed to do with that?!

As the carriage continued forward, Coco beckoned Yiluo closer.

Yiluo understood and sat beside her.

“Yiluo… were you pitying him?”
Coco whispered into her ear.

Yiluo smiled sweetly and whispered back,

“My dear master… killing is boring.

Breaking someone psychologically… now that’s interesting.”

“Yiluo… my impression of you has changed again.”

“My dear master, did it change for the better?”

“No, no, it became worse.”

“Eh?! Nooo!”

Inside the carriage, whispered conversations and tiny antics between Yiluo and Coco filled the space.

The journey suddenly didn’t feel boring at all.
